Story
We are seeking to rehome our 18-month-old pit bull pup, Oliver. Ollie was a rescue dog. We had 2 dogs at home and were seeking a third as a mate for our previously rescued boarder collie mix. The first 6 months after we brought Ollie home were wonderful. The 2 got along beautifully. About a month ago, they got into a physical fight and have not stopped fighting since. We have tried everything we are able to do and things have not improved. We believe the issue is that the boarder collie is territorial and he is the attacker. Oliver has been injured on several occasions. At this juncture, we have made the difficult decision to rehome Ollie primarily because he will be able to easily transition to a new home. The boarder collie will not. Ollie LOVES to play! He loves tug of war the most but he is learning th okay fetch. he is a major bed hog and snuggler. He is great on a leash and enjoys walking. Ollie is microchipped and up to date on shots. He will need a 3 year rabies in the spring.

Story
(DOB 03/27/2024)  Meet Joy, the pint-sized bundle of happiness who’s here to sprinkle sunshine everywhere she goes!  This little lady may not take up much space, but her heart is as big as the great outdoors! A true social butterfly, Joy adores making new human friends and will wag her tail in delight at the sight of other furry pals. With a gentle demeanor, she’s definitely a lover, happily embracing her submissive side. Joy is a quiet soul—don’t expect any loud barks or shenanigans from this sweetheart. Instead, she spends her time keeping her kennel squeaky clean and embracing her house-trained status (when kept on a steady routine). While she thrives on a routine, Joy is always up for a little adventure… as long as there are stuffed toys involved! Squeaky plushies are her absolute vice, and she can often be found joyfully parading around with her latest treasure. When it comes to treats, Joy is a grateful (but not overly picky) snacker—if it’s edible, she’ll likely appreciate it! We’re currently working on perfecting her leash manners, but with her friendly disposition and eagerness to please, we know she’ll be strutting along like a pro in no time. So, if you’re looking for a compact companion who radiates joy and warmth, look no further than Joy! She brings a sprinkle of sunshine to each day, reminding us all that happiness really does come in smaller, wiggly packages! As part of Joy’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Joy, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2251484##

Story
As you can tell by his attire, Spencer had a great holiday and got to spend it with a foster family! We got to learn so much about this sweet boy while he was away and we hope that by sharing what we learned, we will find his family. He does great on car rides, even settling in the back seat for you to buckle him in. He loves to sleep and absolutely loved bedtime with his fosters, often snuggling with them! He is 99% housebroken and alerts you by barking or sitting at the door when he needs to go outside to potty. He also gives the warmest greetings to all he meets, he knows basic commands like sit and stay, and was SUCH a sweetheart when his family had a house full of guests during the holidays. He loves to play fetch, responds very well to a ‘whistle’ and knows the word ‘no’. His foster home did have a cat and while they were both nervous with each other at first, he quickly learned that his foster family’s cat was the alpha and respectfully gave her the space she was requesting with her hisses. They feel sure with more training and prolonged exposure this would likely improve, were his new family to have a cat. He was not around dogs during this time, so they were unable to give feedback on this, as well as small children. We can tell you it was a hard decision to not adopt him after their time together, as they fell in love… but they knew the time wasn’t right for their family. Spencer is a sweet boy who deserves his forever home and he would love to spend his next holiday with a family of his own. He is 2 years old and weighs just over 26 pounds, making him the perfect mid-size cutie! Please come and meet him in person to learn all about him and we always recommend meet and greets with other dogs and children prior to adoption. Spencer’s fee is waived!
