Story
Meet Russ, a charming canine on a quest to find his FUR-ever home. Discovered at a park in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Russ's story unfolds with a tale of abandonment, evident in his longing gaze. Despite being left behind a month ago from when we found him, Russ carries himself with the grace of a once-loved companion. At around 3 years old and a sturdy 30 pounds, Russ is a picture of canine elegance, displaying the distinctive traits of a brown Carolina Dog mix. His manners are impeccable – he's mastered the art of leash walking and delights in staying close to his human companions. Russ is not just a pretty face; he's a well-rounded pup. Neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, and heartworm negative, he's in tip-top health and ready to bring joy to a loving family. His good-natured spirit extends to children and other dogs, making him a versatile addition to any household. With a love for the great outdoors, Russ dreams of a big yard or even a farm to explore and call his own. If you're seeking a loyal companion to share your adventures, consider making Russ a part of your family. Adopt Russ, and let the journey of unconditional love and companionship begin – because every dog deserves a FUR-ever home. Satos (pronounced with a short A) are a type of dog rather then a breed.  The name is Puerto Rican slang for “street dog,” but they are also known as Puerto Rican Found Dogs in the U.S. They are the homeless dogs, or urban free-ranging dogs, that live in Puerto Rican cities. Satos are small to medium dogs, usually not more than 35-40lbs. They have large ears that flop, long snouts and legs that seem just a tiny bit too short for their bodies. Their fur varies from a short thick coat to longer, feathery details on the tail and ears. They come in every color imaginable.  August 18, 2024, 2:44 pm

Story
"Lady of the morningLove shines in [her] eyesSparkling, clear and lovelyYou're my lady"These lyrics describe our Lady for sure! She is gentle, well-mannered, loves life. Spending time with her reminds you how special life can be when you have a pup to spend it with. A little about Lady: she knows tricks like sit, paw, and down. She is also loves treats and is eager to learn more tricks! She enjoys spending time with her doggo friends at the shelter and would love to meet your resident pup, if you have one! This girl has spent time with our volunteers, youth task force, staff, and most recently in a foster home for a week and we all agree she is quite the catch. Housetrained, and quite the cuddler! To find out more about her or to meet her visit our Madison location!

She is a good dog once she is comfortable with you. She has anxiety and becomes very reactive when stimulated. She has never bitten a dog or person but recently snapped at my infant and toddler. Very uncomfortable around my young children.

Story
According to his foster, 4 ½ year old mix of Carolina Dog and Shepherd named Butter is “exquisite!” What could she mean by that? First of all is his medium coat of red and gold that shines in the sun. He weighs between 50 and 55 pounds and is quite trim at that. His eyes are large, especially when they’re looking into yours. What else? Butter is gentle and easy going. He always takes treats from your hand easily. He enjoys going for walks and playing with tennis balls. He is sweet and enjoys giving hugs, being brushed, and receiving belly rubs! We love this boy!
