Alexandrite is a 2 year old Domestic Short Haired cat available for adoption at CCHS. She came to us initially as a transfer from our local Animal Control facility after being found as a stray kitten with her siblings. She was adopted out and unfortunately, found as a stray again. Due to this, we do not know how she does in a home, but what we do know is that she is a complete sweet girl! She is very nervous about meeting new people, and takes time to warm up. She tends to prefer the quieter times of the shelter, and will come out of hiding to explore the room and play. She loves affection from her human companions, and does quite well with the other cats in the room with her. If you are considering adopting, you should stop in and meet with Alexandrite! Alexandrite is a STAFF FAVORITE pet! Here's what adoption staff member, Becca has to say about her: Alexandrite is a super sweet girl! She has made a lot of progress since she has come here. She used to be very shy and would run and hide whenever someone came into her room, but now she will often run up to people who she is familiar with and acknowledge them when they enter. She is still nervous when first meeting new people, but she's a sweetheart once she warms up. She is a bit of an independent girly, but she is not afraid to rub up on you to ask for attention. Don't overlook this cutie!
