If you want to be a solo cat owner, please scroll to another bio. If you are looking to add to your existing pet family, stick around and read more about Army.*** Army was surrendered to us on Memorial Day weekend along with 4 brothers. Everything was going great for them in their foster home until Army’s foster mom noticed he was having trouble breathing. She rushed him to the vet, and he ended up in the hospital for 3 days with life-threatening pneumonia. Thanks to a quick reaction from mom, great vet care, and a strong will to survive, Army pulled through. This medical setback is how we learned that he can’t possibly be an only cat. When Army was released from the hospital, he had to spend 10 days isolated from everyone else while he finished recovering and taking his antibiotics. His foster mom spent as much time as possible with him in a spare bedroom, including sleeping with him at night. Army became the poster child for “single kitten syndrome.” He was lonely, but not in a sad way. He was energetic and playful and sweet, and he insisted on playing with his foster mom even in the middle of the night, because he didn’t have anyone else to pester. Foster mom was his only playmate, which was kinda fun for him, but not nearly as fun as rolling around with another kitty. He also loved foster dad, who checked on him regularly. After Army’s miraculous recovery was complete, he rejoined his siblings and friends in the foster room, and he was elated. It was a glorious reunion. He also likes to escape the foster room and run right up to the resident cats. He LOVES other cats so much. He would be a spectacular companion to one or many cats, but his love for other animals that look like him does not take away from his love of humans. He is ridiculously social with people. He is Mister Personality. He has no fear of anything. He would probably even like a dog. Army has become a strong, amazing little soldier who wants nothing more than to have a family of pets and people to call his own. If you need some new kitten energy in your home, apply to meet Army! We encourage you to consider adopting kittens in pairs! There are several reasons why kittens would do good with a friend, including: -Two kittens keep each other entertained - they will play and get all their energy out on each other in time for snuggles with you! -Having two kittens to play with each other prevents "I'm lonely and bored" behavioral issues. -Watching two kittens wrestle is quite possibly the cutest thing you will ever see. -The kittens will teach each other "how to cat" and learn to be more social with humans and people. -You'll save two lives instead of one! Army is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, spayed/neutered, and litter box trained. Army’s adoption fee is $165. Please note A.R.F. does not approve applications for any kitten under 6 months of age to families that live outside of Illinois and/or beyond 100 miles of Wheaton or Glen Ellyn, IL.
