Story
Its hard to believe but Pepper arrived at our rescue over 4 years ago. She had been taken care of along with a number of other cats by a kind person who was working in rescuing a number of neighborhood cats up until the time a house fire caused her to evacuate. Most of the cats were rescued and brought to our rescue where they were eventually adopted into loving homes. Pepper presented as the most challenging of the group as she was extremely wary of people. For a long time, Pepper steered as clear of people as she could; however, she has made some progress. She will come and play with her favorite toys and on occasion will allow limited petting. Pepper requires a home with experienced cat people who understand her fear and allow her to be Pepper. She has been vet checked, has tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV, is spayed and is up to date on her vaccinations. During her time at our rescue, Pepper has seen and interacted with many cats and seems to get along fine with all. She has never been observed with dogs. If you are interested in meeting Pepper and believe you can provide the type of home she needs, please visit animaladvocates.net and complete an interest in adoption application.July 13, 2024, 2:57 pm

Story
This young lady was seen scrounging food from a waste bin in a residential neighborhood with her kitten and pal Harvey. Neighbors alerted Animal Advocates' volunteers who set a trap and quickly rescued the little family. At first hesitant and wary of new environments, Peony is slowly learning people are safe and life indoors is easy living!  Peony will accept gentle pets from her favorite volunteers at the rescue.  She is slowly making progress, and we believe an experienced and patient caregiver will help Peony blossom into a lovely companion.  Peony enjoys siting on the the enclosed "catio" and hanging with the other felines at the rescue - especially her pal Harvey.  Peony protects and assures Harvey, and increasingly friendly Harvey helps spicy Peony realize that people aren't so bad! Peony is Harvey's very best friend - they cuddle together every night.  Peony has soft grey tabby fur and bright green eyes.  Her birthday is estimated in August 2021.  She has tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV, vaccinated as well as spayed and microchipped. Peony will take time to adjust to any new situation.  An experienced and patient caregiver will be best, one who will accept Peony for the cat she is and help her feel safe and confident.  To meet Peony visit www.animaladvocates.net and complete an adoption application (located under the "Adopt" menu). A discounted adoption fee is offered when considering bringing home two cats.  And, as a bonus, you get to watch Harvey and Peony snuggle and in an adorable cuddle pile.  Thank you for considering a rescue cat from Animal Advocates!July 13, 2024, 2:57 pm

Story
Harvey comes to Animal Advocates after being rescued by local good samaritans who saw him hanging out in their neighborhood. At first hesitant and wary of people, Harvey has come a long way in his short time at the rescue.  Harvey has become quiet a ham - he LOVES catnip and any kind of treat (as the saying goes, the quickest way to a man's heart is through his stomach).  With a Churu or two, Harvey quickly warms up and gives head butts and seeks out pets from trusted caregivers at the rescue.  Harvey enjoys siting on the the enclosed "catio" and hanging with the other felines at the rescue - especially his pal Peony.  Peony protects and assures Harvey, and increasingly friendly Harvey helps spicy Peony realize that people aren't so bad!  Harvey has soft grey tabby fur with white around his face.  His birthday is estimated in August 2022.  Harvey has tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV, vaccinated as well as neutered and microchipped. Harvey will take some time to adjust to any new situation so an experienced and patient, quiet home situation will be best.   To meet Harvey visit www.animaladvocates.net and complete an adoption application (located under the "Adopt" menu). Story
This pretty, young lady turned up on a suburban porch, with several of her babies in tow. The kindly neighbor started feeding her and the kittens and has been working getting the entire crew (turns out she had two litters) all vetted. While her kittens were somewhat skittish, Penny turns out to be just a love and clearly was someone's pet at some time. Penny likes to be petted and talked to but she is not wild about being picked up and carried around although that might change once she has the security of a permanent home. Penny has been vet checked, vaccinated for FVRCP and rabies, dewormed and spayed. She has tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV although she is still outside. She can be retested prior to adoption. Bella's birth date is unknown but she is estimated to be about two years old.  Penny has not been formally surrendered to Animal Advocates or observed by Animal Advocates' volunteers. This is a courtesy post to facilitate a home-to-home adoption for Bella. For more information, please respond directly to Gloria at 412.974.6626 or house111@verizon.net.July 13, 2024, 2:57 pm

Story
At just around a year old, Hank is filled with an abundance of confidence and playful kitten energy.  Hank loves exploring, chasing wand toys and the attention of volunteer caregivers at Animal Advocates. He is all play all the time - until he, adorably, will pass out on a comfy bed or snuggle in your lap.  Hank would love to have a family who has experience with cats and can provide him with outlets for all of his energy and help him learn boundaries.  His antics delight volunteers and are sure to bring joy to any home!  Hank has distinct black/brown marble tabby fur. His birthday is approximated in April 2023.  Following the discovery and removal of a blockage, Hank eats a prescription food to maintain a healthy urinary tract. He is otherwise a healthy, normal cat. An adoption team member would be happy to discuss any questions you may have about his needs.  He has tested negative for Felv/FIV, up-to-date on vaccinations, treated for fleas/dewormed as well as neutered and microchipped. He lives comfortably with other cats at the rescue and we believe he would do best with another young, energetic cat who can match Hank's confidence and would appreciate a playful pal.  If you are interested in meeting a cat, the first step is to complete an online application located at www.animaladvocates.net (under the "Adopt" menu). Story
Meet Florence! This sweetheart is searching for a home where she can feel safe and loved - and once you have earned her trust, Flo will be your absolute best friend! Flo is currently residing in a volunteer foster home through Animal Advocates. Flo's fosters describe her as, "a playful, sweet cat who just wants to be loved.  She maybe a little shy at first, but quickly opens up and when she does, Flo will be obsessed with you!" Flo will now seek out her fosters for snuggling and purrs almost instantly.  She loves chasing after wand and laser pointer toys.    Flo has very distinct unusual orange, tan, grey "leopard" print fur.  Her birthday is approximated in June 2023. She has tested negative for Felv/FIV, up-to-date on vaccinations, treated for fleas/dewormed as well as spayed and microchipped. She lives with other cats at her foster home, but has "mixed" reviews and is more indifferent towards to the other cats (not aggressive at all). Flo will do best in a home with caregivers who are willing to take slow, measured steps to help her feel comfortable in a new environment and with any resident felines.   Flo really is in tune with people - comfortable and loving. If you are interested in meeting a cat, the first step is to complete an online application located at www.animaladvocates.net (under the "Adopt" menu). Thank you for considering a rescue cat from Animal Advocates!July 13, 2024, 2:57 pm
