Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Lola is being surrendered to me by my long time and trusted foster family.  Unfortunately, 5 + yrs. ago Lola, was abandoned with them by her original family.   My fosters were babysitting Lola while her family was away on vacation, but they never came back for her. So, she's been with them for over 5 yrs. now. I have always known that Lola does not do well with one of the other senior females in the house.  Regardless they continued to work with Lola to make it work, but it's not working. It's gotten worse and I agree with them it's best to rehome Lola. Their other dog is a tripod chihuahua and getting weaker in her old age.  These 2 seniors need peace in their lives.  Lola is a chihuahua mix about 8-9 yrs. old now.  She's a good dog and very loving but should probably be an only dog or with another friendly male dog her size. She loves attention and older considerate children. She's 100% potty trained.  She sleeps through the night. And oh boy does she love her walks and hikes.  She would be a wonderful companion dog!!!  Lola is fully vaccinated, spayed and microchipped.  If you live in San Diego County or surrounding areas own a home with a yard and 6-foot fence and want to foster or adopt Lola please complete one of our online applications at tlck9rescue.org   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 16, 2024, 12:40 pm

Story
Meet Reba! She is about 1 years old and 11 lbs. She can be a little shy at first but is very sweet once she warms up. She gets along with other small dogs but does like to eat by herself to be sure her foster dog sister and brother don’t take her food. She walks well on a leash and has done well with her potty training and will also stay in her crate when needed. She would do best in a house with a yard she can run around in. She is a young dog and is very energetic so she would do great in an active home. She likes her dog bed but also likes to sleep with her foster mom. If you think Reba would make a great addition to your family then please fill out an application!

Story
Birdie is an adorable, loving chihuahua mix. She is believed to be about 6 months and 6lbs. Birdie quickly bonds with humans, (adults and kids)  and loves to be at their side throughout daily activities. She is almost fully potty trained.   Birdie enjoys snuggling with her people and is playful like a typical puppy. She enjoys being outside and loves playing with toys and chewing on them. Birdie loves to chase her toys. She is learning social behavior when she sees other dogs out on walks and needs more practice with appropriately reacting to dogs. After she warms up with dogs she behaves appropriately but it takes her some time. Since she is still a puppy she would be best with an active household and to be the only dog where she can get lots of attention and training to continue growing into a perfect dog!

Meet Samson! This handsome guy is about 7 years old and 6lbs. Samson loves to lay out in the sun and long naps. He likes his walks and loves affection. Samson can be a little shy around new people but quickly comes around. Samson likes the lazy life and doesn’t require much activity. He would do great with someone retired or any home without a lot of activity. He needs some work with potty training and possibly might have Luxating Patella but it’s still under investigation. Foster will provide medical updates if interested. If you’re interested in Samson please fill out an application.

Story
Cozy is an adorable 3.7lb 6 year old long-haired tri color chihuahua with a very sweet demeanor. She is most comfortable in her crate at night and when she is left at home. She is potty trained and does not bark very much. She prefers to be in your lap and snuggling while at home. She is eager for all your love and attention! She came from a home with 2 other chihuahuas. Cozy is currently shaved due to itchy skin irritations that are healing and need to be monitored. Cozy would do best in a home with no children. She needs a lot of extra TLC and attention to help her feel safe again. A quiet, calm environment will be best for her.

Jake’s mom was rescued in 2019, then a week later she had 7 puppies. All of Jake’s siblings found homes except for poor Jake. All he wants to do is cuddle and give all his love and affection to you. He’s very good with women, but has a hard time trusting men. Although Jake has always been around other dogs and cats, he would be thrive in a single dog household where he gets all the attention. Story
Hi! My name is Armando but my friends call me Mondo. One of my favorite things to do if you have carpet is roll around on my back first thing in the morning when I wake up. It feels so good! And then I run back and forth to get the blood flowing so I am ready to go outside. It's like I just know that today, just like yesterday, is going to be a great day! I am a shy (at first) but loving little dog. I love to go on outings with my people and pup friends but I need a little time getting to know new people. My fun things to do are dancing in the morning down the hall to go outside and dancing at mealtime. Okay, I just love dancing! To some, I seem tough on the outside but I really am a teddy bear on the inside once you get to know me. I will admit, I do still have some trust issues so I will need you to take it slow with me, let me come to you, and have some tasty treats on hand and I will warm up fairly quickly. I will want to be where you are but it will be best to just let me tag along with you until we get to know each other better. Eventually, I will rub my head on your leg, sit next to you on the couch, and possibly even sleep on your lap while you watch TV. I was originally found as a stray when I was a pup. Scared I made poor choices so I went to a long-term foster home to learn how to deal with my emotions and to choose my reactions in a more mature fashion. They gave me the name Armando so it’s the only name I know. Now that I am better and more mature, oh and the pandemic is over, I am ready to find my forever home, could it be with you? Because of my size and personality, I will do best in a home with no children. I can live with another dog close to my size if they don’t mind me being a little bossy every once in a while. I prefer to have another pup around to show me the ropes and to learn from in terms of who to trust. I won’t feel targeted if there is more than one of us. As I shared before, I adore snuggling but I don’t share my cuddles with just anyone, I prefer to get to know you a bit first. It takes me a little time to become comfortable with new people and places. I like to take my time approaching new situations and I need people to allow me to not be rushed. If allowed to go at my own pace I will warm up as I become more familiar with you, the environment, and the new routine. I have been attending adoption events and letting so many people give me treats and pet me, even some have been able to pick me up. Oh, and I am always up for going out on a walk too. While I am crate trained, I prefer to have it open as an option for a safe place rather than being locked in. Exercise keeps me happy and content and I am happy to wear my harness until we are totally comfortable with each other. This way you can easily clip the leash on so we can go on walks without either of us feeling uncomfortable. Eventually, we won’t need to be so cautious. I may surprise you as to how fast I feel at home with you! Trust me, once you get to know me you will just adore me and my cute playful ness! If you think we may be a good match, or you would like to get to know me better, please click the Adoption Application button below my bio on the rescue website, here is the link - https://www.smallbreedrescue.org/Home/AnimalDetails/9389 Due to home introductions that are part of the adoption process, we can only accept applications from interested parties who are in or near North County, San Diego, California at this time.

Story
Introducing Dani, a 1.5-year-old sweetheart with a gentle and loving nature. Dani has faced a lot of trauma and is understandably scared of new things, but with patience and love, she gradually reveals her true affectionate side, showering her trusted humans with cuddles and kisses. Dani has an oral fixation on chewing and enjoys having a towel to chew on. She is cautious of everything, especially new people, but given time and patience, she eventually warms up and shows her love to new faces. This gentle girl needs a home where she will receive lots of attention and understanding, particularly for her potty training and chewing habits. Dani is about 80% potty trained and does best in a home with hardwood floors, as she struggles with anything fabric on the ground. Dani is a loving and gentle dog who just needs a bit of extra care and patience to thrive. If you can provide a calm, understanding, and attentive environment for this sweet girl, please fill out an application to adopt her. Dani is ready to find her forever family and share all the love she has to give.

Story
We bought Peanut crossing the border from Mexico to America. We have two other dogs aside from him. I recently took him to the vet and he is happy and healthy. He was born on December 1, 2016. He has his rabies vaccine along with the DHLPP and Bordetella vaccine. We love peanut but we have decided we can no longer afford three dogs. The other two dogs are siblings, we do not want to separate them. Peanut is an outside dog he loves to take walks. He is a friendly and loving dog. He has a beautiful fur coat he does not need much grooming but HE DOES SHED like a normal dog. We want him to go to a family that will love him and give him all the attention he deserves. We do not know his breed because they told us he is a pomeranian and he is clearly not. We think he might be a mix between a jack Russel terrier and a pomeranian. It would be best for him to go to a family that does not have any dogs yet because HE DOES NOT GET ALONG WITH ANY DOGS. He is potty trained somewhat.
