Please contact Paul Slebzak (pauls@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Good boy looking for his forever home! COSTELLO NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:    Costello       Best Guess for Breed:    Chihuahua/Terrier mix Best Guess for Age:    6 years, 5 months as of Jan. 2025       Gender:    Male Approximate Weight:    13.7 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven’t seen Costello with cats but he can be tested if you have them! We would be cautious placing Costello in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare small breed dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to ensure their interactions with the dog are calm and gentle in nature.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.   Currently Living At: South Carolina shelter - Costello needs a foster or adopter to make his way to the DC area Special Adoption Considerations: Costello  is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!Costello is Looking For:  Costello is a 6-year-old small dog with a warm tan-and-white coat that matches his sunny personality. This charming boy is the perfect blend of calm and cheerful, ready to bring joy and companionship to his forever family. Costello has a heart full of love and a gentle demeanor that makes him a great fit for almost any home. Whether it’s relaxing on the couch, taking a leisurely stroll, or just enjoying your company, Costello will be right by your side, making every moment better. At 6 years old, he’s past the puppy stage but still has plenty of life and love to share. Costello is looking for a family who will appreciate his sweet spirit and offer him the cozy, loving home he deserves. What My Foster Says About Me: Coming Soon!  Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Please contact Mamie Hall (mamie.hall@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet small boy seeking fresh start and love! OBI NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Obi and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (1/12/25) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Rockville, MD (5154 Nicholson Ln, Kensington, MD 20895)!   Name: Obi       Best Guess for Breed:  Chihuahua mix Best Guess for Age:  1 year as of December 2024         SEX:  Male   Approximate Weight: 12 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen Obi with cats but he can be tested if you have them. We would be cautious placing Obi in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare small breed dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to ensure their interactions with the dog are calm and gentle in nature.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.    Currently Living at:   DC area foster home.   Special adoption considerations:   Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think Obi would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure he can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to gain confidence and learn the ropes.    Obi is Looking For:  His forever home! This sweet small boy came all the way from Puerto Rico to get his own humans. He's eager to trot through life knowing he's safe and well loved and exactly where he belongs. He's up for sniffy walks, world exploration - and lots of cuddles! In exchange, he has adoring gazes and happy little tail wags and loyal companionship to offer. What do you say? Is that fuzzy little face the one you want to wake up to every day for many, many days to come? What My Foster Says About Me:   Obi is channeling the force to charm both me and my resident dog! He has settled in quite nicely and is super sweet and cuddly. He follows me around the house and can occasionally get underfoot and has an adorable little bark, which he uses rarely. Crate training is going to take some perseverance since he doesn't like being in the crate, but he seems to be mostly housebroken. He's very good on the leash, not pulling at all, and wandering off from side to side as he picks up scents that attract him. If I weren't committed to having only one resident dog, I'd have foster-failed with him already. He is an absolute joy. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Story
Meet Curious Puppy Coco.  This beautiful brindle boy is only 17 weeks old and 7 lbs.  Just look at that face.  It definitely tells you that this curious little guy will be in the middle of everything.  This little boy is all legs.  You just want to smile when you look at him.  He is at that awkward stage in life with legs and feet going every where.  Coco is a very sweet boy.  He is super friendly and does not meet a stranger.  He happily goes up to everyone to be petted.  Coco loves other dogs and has a big time playing with his foster brothers.  He is a bit of a pest to the older dogs though as he always wants to play.  Coco would love to have another young brother or sister to play with.  He definitely needs a companion to keep him busy.  When Coco does settle down he is a great little cuddle boy and will curl up in your lap or beside you to go to sleep.  This little guy is doggie door and crate trained.  He walks OK on a leash but does need some additional training.  He is very smart though and catches on quickly.  He will be an excellent addition to the right family.  Coco is neutered, current on all shots and microchipped.  To be considered for his forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Coco is currently in Tennessee and can be transported north upon adoption.)November 18, 2024, 11:35 am
