****When responding please use our application at sparrowdogs.com, or tell us about yourself,(family, home, yard/fence, other pets, work hours..) Thanks! You will never meet a sweeter little fella, and considering Doby is a Chihuahua, that says a lot!! For those of you familiar with Chihuahua's, you know they can be feisty little buggers, lol. Such is not the case with Doby, he would rather spend his day with his favorite person, snuggling on the couch is a true luxury. His best buddy in his foster home is the husband(he thinks he is a king, go figure). With football season coming, who doesn't need a little pal to cheer on the BEARS(Ok...or your favorite team...) and he is great about sharing some snacks and does not mind the crumb patrol at all. Doby had a family for a number of months, but as their baby became a toddler they realized that Doby was not a fan of small children. He trembled when the little guy got near and grabbed(who can blame him) and nipped a couple of times. Doby is little, we get it, he was thinking he was defending himself. For that reason we are looking for an adult only household. Doby is looking for an extra special home, one that will love him and accept him just the way he is. We have no idea why he has a pattern of hair loss on his body. Perhaps it was due to a previous injury? We just do not know, but he has some tufts of longer hair, then smooth skin area's. Ironically, his back looks just like Hulk Hogan's mustache, now how about that, one in a million I say. Doby also has a significant heart murmur. He is still a spunky guy and is not on any meds or will not require treatment. He will just live out his life with his condition and hopefully live it to the fullest with the right family. If you are looking for that extra special little guy to love and adore, someone that will return the favor and make you the hero in his world, then Doby is your guy. He is just adorable, irresistible and his sweet little face will just melt your heart!! We are looking for that very special person/family. His adoption fee is $125. Doby is 8 years old and about 8 pounds. Please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com.

Story
Diego and Dora came to us as unclaimed strays, ready for a fresh start! Diego is a 1-year-old chihuahua mix, weighing around 20 pounds. He's a very sweet guy, who will jump up for attention and pets. He enjoys his walks and sniffing around. Diego can be a little mouthy when he's excited. He is looking for a home without other dogs and older kids.

Story
Tickle (Dad, 8yr old male) and Scrappy (Son, 6yr old male) are a very bonded pair of chihuahuas.  They would do best in a quiet home without children or energetic dogs.  They are fine with other dogs as long as they are respectful and don't get into their face.  They have never met a cat but would most likely be fine, they don't like to chase things.  They are always together and don't like being separated at all.  They use a potty pad in the house but will go potty outside, we are still working on fully housebreaking them.  They are quiet, well mannered boys otherwise.  They love to snuggle with their people are are definite laps dogs.  They are both now fixed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and heartworm neg.   Their adoption fee is $750 for the pair To adopt Tickle and Scrappy email us at kakf3133@gmail.comAugust 19, 2024, 9:36 am

Story
Skip! Skippity doodah is a 12-year-old, 10-pound Chihuahua mix. Skip's dad sadly away. Now Skip is hoping someone will give him a new home. He is truly adorable, timid but sweet, and loves to give kisses once he knows you. Skip is good on a leash, fine in a crate, quiet in the car, and would be okay with other laid back dogs. But, young kids and really rambunctious dogs would be too much for him. Skip likes to cuddle, but is willing to play too. He's the perfect balance of fun and calm. Skip is now our longest resident, and we aren't sure why. :,( He decided to advocate for himself with these words: "Hey you! My name's Skip. But you can call me Skipper because I'm in need of a first mate. I'm a fair weather skipper so I like naps and rolling in the yard when it's sunny and warm, but limit my time outside if it's rainy or cold. I can be a big sweetheart. So, If you want to put me in your lap I'll give you plenty of kisses and I always appreciate a snuggly nap. Dog beds are a MUST, so make sure those are always available... a skipper needs his beauty rest. I'm really good in a crate and am happy to nap in there too. As much as I love to nap, I also REALLY love to go on walks! Like any skipper, I have a few quirks. I'm nervous around strangers (who isn't??). Things that shouldn't scare me make me jump (doors closing or stepping on crackly leaves). Things that SHOULD scare me I ignore (Roomba's, moving vehicles, lawnmowers). All that to say, I know once you meet me you will look past any of my quirks. Now be an obedient first mate, and use those big paws to fill out an application and come work for me... your trustworthy Skipper. Sound like a match for you? Then, please apply: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog His minimum adoption donation amount is $245. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives. We are located in Bloomington, IL We do not ship, you would need to travel to pick up your babies if you live out of state. Story
Bugsy Malone is a chiweenie (Chihuahua/dachshund) who is 8-pounds and 7-years-old. Bugsy has the typical big Doxie voice, so he shouldn't go anywhere with shared walls (I.e apartments, condos). He likes to cuddle, will play with other small dogs and toys, watch television while in your lap, walks well on a leash, and likes to cruise around in the car with you. But, he needs a really secure harness as he is a Houdini with many harnesses. Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog His minimum adoption donation amount is $295. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives.
