Story
Hi, I’m Manny! I’m about 4 years old, I’m house and crate trained, I know how to sit, and I’ll be your best friend. However, I have some criteria that I need from you. I take a minute to warm up to new people, and I don’t particularly appreciate too much love. I will ask for pets when I want them, but don’t get carried away. My favorite thing? Foot pets!!! Let me rub my body on your feet and I’m in heaven! Another thing I love is food. Big food guy! Dogs? I’m good with dogs! I have two foster siblings and I’m super respectful about their space. My foster family says I’m the most perfect dog and all I truly need is someone who will respect my space. I get so excited when my people get home from work. I may bark at new guests, but if they just ignore me, I’ll ignore them. I walk pretty well on a leash, though I like to lead the way! No kids for me please! They move too fast and scare me. If you’re interested in seeing if we are a match, fill out the adoption application!

Story
Meet Pygmy, the 4-year-old, 53 lb bundle of quirks and charm! Hailing from a farm, Pygmy had a bit of a "barkument" with a goat once (let's just say they didn't exchange friendship bracelets). While Pygmy might not be on speaking terms with goats, he's looking for a drama-free life elsewhere. He's a wildlife enthusiast, so outside adventures might involve a bit of "wildlife-watching," and he's quite the vocal storyteller!Pygmy's a professional at tippy-tapping when excited and could definitely hold his own in a singing contest (the audience might need some earplugs). He's looking for a cat-free zone, but in all other aspects, he's a sweetheart. If you have dogs at home, bring them for a meet-and-greet at the shelter to see if they hit it off. If you're ready to welcome a furry friend who's full of character, Pygmy's here to bring joy and plenty of amusing adventures to your life!

If you are interested in adopting an ARPO pet, please visit our website, for details about our fees and process, and to complete our Adoption Application.   ARPO limits adoptions to within 50 miles of Indianapolis.  We do not have a shelter; all pets are in volunteer foster homes.  Hi, I'm Lina.  I am looking for my forever home. I can be timid at first with both people and other dogs.  So if you meet me don't be offended.  I'm a beautiful girl who is playful and sweet once I'm comfortable.  I'm a young girl born around September of 2023.  I like a good walk and do pretty well on leash.  I do well with dogs, cats, and respectful kids.  My breed mix is anyone's guess.  I look like a cattle dog, but I only weigh about eight pounds.     I'm crate trained and housebroken and I really like my crate.  I'm also spayed, microchipped, current on my shots, and HW negative.  If you're interested in meeting me please fill out an application and my friends with ARPO will be in touch! If you are interested in adopting an ARPO pet, please complete the online Adoption Application.  If you would like to donate to this pet's care, please click here. August 19, 2024, 4:14 pm

Story
Taffeta & Chiffon go together like apple pie & ice cream! These two are sisters from different litters; they came from a hoarder who had over 60 dogs in the home. Taffeta has the lighter colored face and is 1 1/2 years old; Chiffon has the darker face and is about 1 year old. The girls are a mix of about 5 breeds ... chihuahua/jack russell is what we will list but those round ears are definitely corgi like! And there may be a smidge of dachshund in them as well. Taffeta & Chiffon are just a hoot!!! They are constantly wrestling & rolling around & tearing around the house in games of chase. When they tire of these antics, they are the absolute best snuggle bugs ever! They wrap themselves up around your neck and cuddle in as close to you as they can get. They give the softest, gentlest kisses as well! The girls are still lacking in socialization with people and will bark at strangers; they will need patience and calm training in order to learn that newcomers are not a threat. For this reason, they would not do well in homes with children 16 and under. Taffeta & Chiffon will also need a very secure fenced in yard in which they expend some of their energy. With their fear issues, walking daily on leashes would be too much for them at this point. Chiffon has a "cherry eye" which is scheduled to be removed at the same time as her spay on October 20th. We are only placing the pair with local adopters so that we can assist with integration and socialization for the girls. The adoption fee for the pair is $400; they will be spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and current on heartworm/flea preventative. (Indianapolis area)

Story
To know her is to love her!!!!! Meet Sparrow, an 8 month old, 13 lb pug/chihuahua girl who's feisty, outgoing, and has plenty of pizzazz! She's great with people and dogs. Sparrow loves to wrestle and play chase with her doggy friends; can self-entertain with all kinds of toys; and when she's tired, she's the best snuggle bug!!! Despite being a puppy, Sparrow isn't destructive and doesn't chew things up. She does like to sleep in bed with her person and cuddles right up next to you. She will need to be potty trained as in her previous home in an apartment, she was never taken outside to go to the bathroom. Sparrow's perfect home will require a fenced-in yard and a very playful dog that can keep her busy and also entice her to stay outside to "do her doodie." Sparrow's adoption fee is $300; she is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations as well as heartworm/flea preventative. Applications are available at waldosmuttleycrew.org. (Indianapolis area)

Story
Baxter first came to Chihuahua Rescue 5 years ago when he was almost one year old. He was surrendered back to the Rescue along with Matilda, who is called Tilly. They were surrendered to Chihuahua Rescue after their owner developed serious health issues and was no longer able to care for them. Potty training was not enforced in Baxter's previous household, so we re-emphasized that skill. He made good progress and is pretty reliable, especially since we got his urinary tract infection treated. He's also crate trained now. At first we thought Baxter and Tilly were bonded and would have to be adopted together. Now, although they still like each other a lot, we believe that they can be adopted separately. Baxter was very overweight upon his return, so with the efforts outlined below we got him back to a healthy weight. Feeding a measured amount of weight-loss food, limiting treats, no human food and getting good exercise in the yard has done the trick; he is at his goal weight! Baxter does have a tendency to bolt out the door if given the chance, so potential adopters should have a securely fenced yard or be diligent about putting on his harness and leash before opening the door.. Baxter has settled in well into his foster's household. His shots are back up to date and he is heartworm negative and back on preventive. Baxter has a very loud bark and uses it to indicate his desires or notify the household of approaching strangers, so he would not be ideal in a shared-wall situation. Baxter is particularly not a fan of big dogs. 10/31/22 CG, updated 11/18/22, 1/11/23, 2/16/23, 4/10/23, 7/30/24, 8/14/24
