Ricky is perfect. He’s adorable, sweet, goofy, and he resembles Yoda (because of his timeless wisdom, not his ginormous ears). Perfect. Ricky is an 11 pound, 9 year old Chihuahua Mix with a very laid back presence and a kind demeanor. Ricky has lots of cute and funny facial expressions, and he looks especially dapper in bow ties ! Story
Gretchen is a 10 pound, 3 year old Chihuahua with the most adorable face. Also, she looks like she could start speaking in English at any moment - but she never does. Not yet. Gretchen is a super awesome pup: she loves her humans so much, and she greets them with the funniest little wiggle butt ever. She brings so much love and calm to any environment she’s in. And she’s a wonderful mama!! Her babies are also available for adoption through the rescue. Gretchen is doing a fantastic job with her crate training but her potty training is a work in progress; she does very well with other dogs with appropriate introductions. Gretchen is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. Her adoption fee is $275. To adopt Gretchen apply at  www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application ##2132975##

Story
Meet Bean, aptly named at a gargantuan 5.5lbs. This tiny senior lady (8-10 years) appreciates a slower pace of life in her golden years. She considers herself a professional lap-sitter and if a lap isn’t available, she’ll plop herself down in the nearest sunbeam and happily rest her eyes for a little bit. While her exercise needs aren’t much as a senior, she does enjoy taking a walk here and there, always leading the way with gusto (also does well riding along in sling carrier for longer walks), and will run around with a stuffy in her mouth in small bursts of energy! She would appreciate a calmer household, with housemates that share her gentle demeanor. Like many chihuahuas, she knows what she likes and has no problem filing any complaints with management when something is amiss (like, you’re not paying enough attention to her)! She currently lives with cats peacefully, and can coexist with other dogs that respect her space. Bean isn’t looking for more canine playmates at this stage in life, but rather, searching for a chill home as a companion to her person. She is potty pad trained and enjoys having a fenced yard to explore. Bean is up to date on vaccinations and preventatives, spayed and microchipped and her adoption fee is $175. ##2137897##

Story
Cocoa is an 11 year old Chihuahua and Papillon mix that is still full of some decent energy. We like to call Cocoa a little prince, he is really sweet and absolutely loves to snuggle up on the couch at the end of a day to get all the snuggles he can. Cocoa is potty/house trained and crate trained, but he prefers to sleep with his humans in bed at night. In fact he really like to burrow under the covers. He is a world-class snuggler! Cocoa is good with other dogs, currently living with our other one (Terrier mix) and children. But to be honest he’s been around longer than our two toddlers and our other dog and I am sure he would be a one dog owner kinda guy if needed! We have never had cats, so I am not sure what he would do. Really he is mostly chill. He loves to be outside and sun bathe, we have had best success with a fenced yard because he is a little on the protective side. This is a hard transition for our family, but we think it will be best for Cocoa to rehome.

Name: Casper Breed Guess: Chihuahua Mix Age: 3 years old Gender: Neutered Male Weight: 25 pounds Shelter Temperament: Shy and Sweet Children: Yes Cats: Yes, slightly curious Dogs: Meet and Greet Required Adoption fee: $375 Likes: Playing outside Snacks (he is on a diet) Snuggles once he warms up The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed. Adoptions are NOT first come, first served! We seek to choose the best fit for the approved adopter and pet. Please understand that these animals are still new to us and their needs and requirements can change at any time as we learn more about them. We will try our best to get them updated online as soon as possible. All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. All dogs are also microchipped. Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization. The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.

Story
Lola is sweet and pretty laid back. She is a little shy to new people but warms up quickly. Can be a little vocal at times but mostly loves to get cuddles on the couch, be swirled up under a blanket or enjoying some zoomies around the yard when it's warm and sunny. She is approximately 9 years old and weighs around 7lbs. She's potty trained and crate trained. Due to my busy schedule in the medical field she does not get the attention/free time she deserves. She's getting down in the dumps so I'd love for someone with more free time to enjoy her calming snuggles.
