Meet Harper. Harper is a special adoption. Harper has been in our rescue for 2.5 years. Why so long? Harper came from a hoarding case years ago and just still hasn't enjoyed people touching her. Is she the happiest dog you will meet? Yes she still loves life, loves other dogs and loves to lounge on the couch. Harper is looking for a home who will accept her and her fear of being touched and be ok with that. She is house broken and will use a potty pad. She really doesn't even need to go outside if you don't want her to. You can't walk her as she doesn't want you to touch her so fenced yard is required. She gets sedation to go to the vet. But she is loved and deserves love. We will waive her adoption fee for adopters willing to give Harper Lee a life. Hi. I am feral. I am afraid of people, but I deserve to live. I am fine in your home if you are ok with me being there. I do need a secure fenced yard. I know how to use a doggy door. I am reliably house broken. I am good with cats and dogs. I can be fearful of big dogs at first. I am a good listener if you need to dump your problems and need someone to listen. And if you are lucky, I may sit on the opposite side of the couch, if you don't look at me. Things you can't do with me yet. You can't pick me up or touch me. You cannot leash me. I will not go on car rides. I need to be sedated to go to the vet. You don't need to walk me as I don't want to leave your house. We will waive his adoption fee at this time. Do you have a heart for the scared dogs? Rookie lived his life outside with 13 feral chihuahuas. All the rest have been adopted except Rookie. We are looking for a special home for Little Bit. Take a walk on the wild side!. Little Bit is from Arkansas. She lived in a home with 29 other dogs. She was physically abused, so does not like to be picked up, ever. From the first day in our home, she has been social with our other dogs and cat and a door greeter. The first night with us she climbed in our bed and slept. Little Bit is house broke. You MUST have a fenced in yard as, you cannot touch her with two hands or attach a leash, one hand pets are ok! She likes to eat and will try to eat other dogs' food. She also likes to lay next to you on the couch as long as you pet her with one hand not two. Little Bit is a sweet loving young lady but again if you try to pick her up, she will let you know that is not allowed. If you know what I mean. She is a very happy go lucky. Simon and Schuster are a bonded pair and their owner passed away and now they are looking for a home to stay together. Schuster is the plump fella at 7 lbs. He is the more outgoing one and is a major lap dog. He just likes to share your lap with Simon. Simon is 4.6 lb (age 2) and the skinny more reserved one. He likes to sit on your chest. Both dogs are potty trained, and kennel trained. They are wonderful little guys, and they enjoy kids who respect their tiny size. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Chase was surrendered to our shelter on 5/3/2024 and is under 2 years old. He's a chihuahua/pit bull mix (yes, that's correct) and he has been bounced around a bit in his relatively short life. He's not quite a small dog and not quite a medium sized dog. He's a happy and enthusiastic fellow who bounces into the room to say hey. He has been vet checked, chipped, neutered, and his fee is $150. Chase loves people and attention, becoming a volunteer favorite in the months he's been with us. He's kind of been overlooked, which is a shame for this sweet guy. He will require some basic training. He is active and playful and is looking for a home in which he won't be alone for long hours. He has done okay with some adult dogs of similar size. Cats? We're not sure. Kids over 5 would be best for him. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. Keep an eye on your emails if you apply. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South.
