Story
The Kramer family has chosen to sponsor the costs of transport and medical care for the 17 Walworth dogs as a Christmas gift in honor of all our fur babies we have lost over the years and all my friends' fur babies that have also crossed the Rainbow Bridge - none will ever be forgotten.  Our Christmas wish is that each of the Walworth-furred ones find loving homes where they are cherished. Merry Christmas sweet Pups!  Love, Cheryl, Dave, Ryan, and Cassie Kramer   Benny was born around August 1, 2020, and weighs about 12 pounds.  Joyful received a message asking for help in the Rochester area with a home that had 30 dogs.   The humans started taking in dogs that no one wanted and after a few years, they became overwhelmed and asked for help.      Benny is a very funny little dude!  He adores his humans and will try and heard them if they are going in the wrong direction so no children in his next home. Once Benny trusts you he is putty in your hands and just the sweetest boy! Benny rides well in the car and walks fine on a leash.  Benny also enjoys kayaking and just about anything that involves his humans.  The Adoption Fee for this dog is $500.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. Story
Henry was born around May 24, 2012 and weighs about 10 pounds.   Henry is with us because his owner needed to go into assisted living.  We were told that the previous owner was a heavy drinker and smoked cigarettes one after another all day.  If this is true we wonder how Henrys lungs will do as he continues to age.  Right now Henry is living his best life loving clean indoor air and the outdoors and investigating everything he can.  When he's sure all the days smells have been properly investigated, he's ready to curl up and observe his surroundings next to his favorite humans on the couch.  We feel his hearing and sight are not the best but then again he is supposed to be 12 years old.   Henry has been great with the other dogs here but has no interest in playing with them and rambunctious youngsters get a stern talking to if they disturb his peace.   Henry loves his people but we would not put him in a home with young humans as sometimes his Chihuahua comes out if you ask him to do something he would rather not....did we mention he was 12?  Henry has some lumps and bumps but at his age we won't be getting them tested.  We will be evaluating him for a dental soon but at first glimpse, his teeth look shockingly good.  So this is Henry and he makes us laugh and we are so glad we will be able to help him find his happily ever after.     The Adoption Fee for this dog is $300.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. Story
The Smith-Kinley transport came to us from Niagara Falls!  Joyful Rescues feels strongly that, because of the drastic dog overpopulation problem that resulted due to human behavior during the pandemic, that we  must do the responsible thing and focus our efforts in our own western NY region.  The population problem has also created an environment ripe for increased animal hoarding when good hearted humans take on more than they have the resources to care for them which is the case for the 9 dogs and 3 cats that arrived here in pretty rough shape.  A few of the dogs have no teeth and the others will need a dental, which we will do for them, and with this much neglect they will likely need a second dental in the near future so we want to be sure, if you choose to open your home to one of them, that you will be prepared for this cost.  Everyone's nails were overgrown, and the longer haired ones were terribly matted and even had some twigs embedded in the mats.  Any donations toward their care would surely be appreciated.  Some of them are a bit shy at first, but they've been through a lot and we feel given a bit of time they will be the loves of your life! Monty was born about April 18, 2017 and weighs about 9 lbs.  Once Monty trusts you, which doesn't take long, he is terribly sweet and is loving the human attention.  He is extremely good with the other dogs and the cats and did very well on the two-hour car ride here.  We don't know about house training and until we can update with that information, we want to let you know there will likely be some work in that area and potty floor pads are always a good idea for these tiny dogs. The Adoption Fee for this dog is $_450.00_. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Bella is a 4lb Chihuahua/Italian Greyhound mix with the most beautiful eyes who has been in rescue for quite some time.  Bella came from an extremely abusive home and has needed some time to recover and learn how to trust humans again.  She is an adorable little dog without a mean bone in her body.  It took a while for us to see Bellas's personality, but she is a funny, quirky girl who just wants to be loved for who she is.  She lives in her own little world and seems happy to do so.  Bella is very easy going and does her own thing for the most part.  She is not much for toys or treats but this girl loves her blankets!  She will bury herself under them all day and night, so much so that sometimes you forget she’s there.    Bella loves other dogs and although not required another small dog in her new home would help her continue to heal.  Bella loves her person once she gets to know them, she loves to give kisses and snuggle on the couch under blankets with you.  Although she has come very far in rescue she is still sometimes nervous about being picked up and the fast movements of children scare her.  We would prefer her to live in a quieter, adult only home.    Bella does well in a crate for short periods, but if left alone for longer, she will use her crate/bed as a bathroom. She is also not pad trained and has frequent accidents in the house. She will sometimes go to the bathroom outside if you take her, but it is really hit or miss with her. She will need someone patient and understanding to continue working with her.    Bella is not leash trained, although we think she can be at some point. For now, though, she will need a secure fence or pen for outside. She does enjoy sitting outside in the sun with her foster mom and the other dogs. Bella doesn’t really know how to play with other dogs, but if dogs are playing, she will bounce around them and bark in a playful manner.    Bella is very loved within the rescue and we want her to have a very special home with someone who understands the breed and how she was treated before.  Bella is loving in her own way and good company.  We have truly enjoyed watching her blossom into the dog she is today and we look forward to her finally getting her happy ever after.   Bella is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm.  Her adoption fee is $450Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 16, 2024, 2:07 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sweet Sheldon is a tiny, senior Chihuahua who was recently surrendered to us because his owner could no longer care for him. Sheldon is 14 years old and weighs only 4 pounds. He needs a loving home that understands and can provide extra care for tiny dogs like him. Sheldon is a happy boy who loves to cuddle with his foster mom. He has a habit of sleeping with his butt up in the air, which is quite amusing! Currently, Sheldon is living with other small dogs and getting along well. He has also lived with cats without any issues. Due to his size and age, it's not recommended for him to be in a home with young children. Sheldon uses potty pads in his foster home but also tries to alert you when he needs to go out. He is crate trained but prefers a gated area if he needs to be confined, as he requires access to water. Although Sheldon can walk on a leash, he prefers the freedom of a fenced yard or pen. It's important to note that Sheldon has a grade 5 heart murmur and is on medication for this. He will require ongoing medical care to keep him in top shape! Sheldon is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, flea- and worm-treated, and tested negative for heartworm. He has also had a dental procedure in the past. Sheldon will come with a supply of his medications. His adoption fee is $100, in hopes of finding him a special forever home!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 16, 2024, 2:07 pm
