**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is George. I'm about 4 years old and I weigh about 15 lbs. I was seized by the pound, along with 11 other dogs and puppies, after being found living in very neglectful conditions in the very cold winter weather. Most of us didn't even have shelter and those of us that did had less than ideal shelter and living conditions. I do love other dogs. I am playful and enjoy the company of both other dogs and cats (I'm currently living with both in a foster home). I am a little timid at first when meeting new people, but I am a very sweet boy and I warm up to you quickly. I LOVE to snuggle into you and get attention and affection. I will need a patient new family that can give me the basic training and socialization I need. In addition to basic training, I will also need work with potty training. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Story
Meet Sheryl! This adorable 1-year-old chihuahua mix weighs just 10 pounds and has a sweet but cautious personality. Sheryl came from a hoarding situation, so she takes time to feel comfortable around new people and environments. While she may shy away at first, Sheryl loves to sneak up next to you on the couch once she feels safe. Sheryl adores other dogs of all sizes and would thrive in a home with a friendly canine companion and a secure, fenced yard where she can hop and frolic to her heart’s content. She’s making great progress with housebreaking and is crate-trained. Sheryl finds comfort in her crate and tends to hide under the couch or bed when nervous, making her crate her safe place. She hasn’t met kids or cats yet, but due to her timid nature, Sheryl would do best in a home with older children or no children. She’s still unsure about loud noises and fast movements, so a calm and patient household will help her build confidence. Sheryl is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines, and current on heartworm, flea, and tick prevention. Her adoption fee is $300. Ready to make Sheryl part of your family? Story
12/01/2024 we accepted Altas because his previous owner was desperate to rehome him. Unfortunately, our (big) dogs are not suitable housemates for him (we did consult with our trainer). He is an absolute pleasure to be around & loves to cuddle & follow his people around! We are looking to rehome Atlas with a family with no dogs or small dogs (he does not like big dogs or big dog play). Previous owner did have a child he was good with. Unknown about cats. He is neutered & 8 years old. We did update his shots/rabies & heartworm/flea. (Will provide all vet records I have). He is crate & leash trained. He comes with food, crate, toys, bed etc.He loves food (has sensitive stomach) & will try to eat anything edible. He is housebroken (wears belly band inside, he will mark new territory). He is very sweet & happy & full of energy & tons of years left! Rehoming fee for transition & can be adjusted.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.ONE FREE TRAINING SESSION WITH ADOPTIONACTIVE EXPERIENCED ADOPTER NEEDED Time for an update on me! My name is Beau. I was surrendered  to the rescue by my family, because I was nipping at the younger children. There were far too many children(6) to pick on me. I've been with my foster mom for a year now and I think we have a few things straightened out, regarding what kind of a home I need. I'm currently living in a quiet country home with a fenced yard where I can expend some energy chasing the squirrels.. We have a routine and infrequent visitors. There are other little dogs here and we get along fine, but I do not like strange dogs and would be best as an only pet. I like to play with  squeaky toys, rope toys and nyla bones, am reliably house and crate trained and love to ride in the car and snuggle with foster mom when our day is done.  I will be 3 years old soon, weigh 23 lbs. and have the cutest underbite. I am healthy, low maintenance, caught up on all my vaccinations and heart worm negative. I am VERY REACTIVE to new people and situations(stranger danger) and will bark and show fear aggression. I can be worked through this, if you have experience at socializing reactive dogs. It will be a work in progress to help me. IF YOU HAVE A QUIET HOME, WITH NO CLOSE NEIGHBORS OR CHILDREN, we could be best friends.  Please see lots of pictures  and more about me on my Facebook page under Rose's Rescue Facebook. Did I mention I am very smart(and cute!)?  If interested, you can easily fill out an adoption application by clicking here:  adoption application For anyone viewing this on Petfinder, if you are interested in adopting this animal you will need to go to our website  www.rosesrescue.net  to fill out the online adoption application.
