Story
Frank- Chi mix He is just like a sour patch kid, sour then sweet, but can you blame him? Frank was dumped along with 8 other small dogs in a crate at our local shelter. Clearly none of them were socialized and Frank was labeled feral. He takes some time to warm up, it is best to ignore him until he initiates, then he is a very loving dog. Once he decides he likes you he will follow you around, demand kisses, and wants to play. He does ok with other dogs with proper introductions. He is ok with cats but still struggles not chasing them when they run off. He is a fast, agile little guy. He would love going for adventures as long as he is securely connected to his human. With structure and more socialization, at his pace, he will become the best little companion.

Story
Baby Bat embodies the personality, uniqueness and likeness of the Batman. First, he works alone. No sidekicks or partners. He prefers solitude and his space. Baby Bat has lived with his foster and her dog pack for 5 years, he gets along with them but tolerates them at most. He would do well in a home where he is the only dog, no children, and adults only. Next, Baby Bat is an apex predator. Which means he needs his sleep and food and not to be interrupted or coddled when given either. Baby Bat is not a lap or cuddly dog. Finally, did we mention Baby Bat is a Chihuahua mix? That's a really important detail! Baby Bat is a great and loyal dog seeking a great family to adopt him! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
This is Buddy, and he can't wait to be yours! Buddy is a sweet young Chihuahua mix that started life off as a feral, until he was caught by a sweet and loving foster. Buddy got the good life after that! Spoiled with treats and given so much love he's developed into a great dog. He's a very friendly boy and does great with pretty much everyone. He would do best in a household with an active family. Buddy does tend to bark at smaller animals so he would do best in a household that doesn't have farm animals or other small pets. Dogs and cats he is fine with, though he has not had much experience with cats. Buddy would do well paired with another calm and confident dog. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Ready for a new friend? Meet Honey! Honey is a sweet dog, just like her name she is oozing with affection and love. She is a very medium/small sized beagle/chi mix, she is housebroken and likes to let people know when she needs to go out by pawing at your legs. Loves to cuddle with you, she can be a velcro dog sometimes and will make your couch her permanent home!. Honey doesn't like to share her affection with others and is adoptable into a single dog/animal home. She does tolerate the foster mom's kitties but honestly she would really love to be the center of someone's life. She has MORE than enough love and devotion to fill your heart every day. She is crate trained. She loves to sleep in the bed too! If you are looking for the yin to your yang, the bread to your jam or the pup to your life... HONEY is the ONE!!!! Story
Honey is a sweet, playful, funny little girl. Since arriving, she has figured out that laps are pretty fantastic, and often come with some lovely scritches. She is always down for a nap time and cuddles. When it’s time to play, Honey has the cutest little prances and will bat at toys with her front paws like a cat. Honey would love it if someone could spend some time getting to know her so she can blossom and show you what a fun girl she can be. While at POOCH Honey has been working on learning what a leash and harness are for, as well as her basic obedience like sit and down. Honey is the perfect little lap size, and is cautious about dogs larger than her. You’ll have to talk to my handlers to see what tricks I have for you! Characteristics: Friendly but can be shy at first Is getting used to a collar and leash, and is still learning to trust a harness Enjoys relaxing in laps WHAT MY YOUTH HANDLERS SAY ABOUT ME I love to be held like a baby, and will happily drift off to sleep in your arms I like to do a little bear dance when I greet my people I sound like a chicken or a velociraptor or sometimes like a dolphin Read more about the Commitment of Adopting a Dog. DETAILS Breed: Chihuahua/Basset? Sex: Female (needs to be spayed; appt. scheduled 3/4) Size: 11lbs Age: Appx. 1 1/2 years Special Considerations: Small and can be a bit of a door dasher. Story
Hi - my name is Rigby and I was just recently rescued from a California shelter, where I was made urgent for who knows what reason. I had pretty bad teeth, so my rescuers just took me in for a dental, where I had 13 teeth pulled! I am quiet and easygoing, and I do well with other dogs. I would love a home where I can retired, have a nice, relaxing life and have a person or people who love me. I weigh only 7 pounds! Please email for an application.

Story
Ziggy is a darling little special needs Chihuahua girl who came to us from California. She is incredibly loving and a little lap dog with her foster mom. - Estimated date of birth is 3/13/23 and Ziggy is 7 pounds - Good with other dogs and we prefer small dogs in her future home just because Ziggy is so dainty and she has an old, healed pelvic injury. - Fostered with a cat and can be calm around the cat but has moments where she chases the cat so we think a cat free home may be best. - Does well left home alone in her gated pen area with her bed - Cuddly, affectionate and loves her foster mom a lot. She enjoys attention from the other members of the family including teenagers but does tend to default to her foster mom. - Can be reserved with new people and a little barky as is common with a lot of small dogs but she warms up quickly with treats! - Doing well with her potty habits but does need structure and supervision as many small dogs do. MEDICAL: Ziggy suffered a pelvic fracture that healed quite a while ago before we got her. The pelvic fracture caused her hind leg muscle to detach from her pelvis. Her hip joint is intact and uninjured. Ziggy has been evaluated by an orthopedic specialist and they believe she can have a good quality of life leaving her leg as is. She does have a wonky gait but she is pain free and does use it for mobility at times. Amputation is the other option but the vet feels it is not necessary. While Ziggy may not be a hiking partner, she enjoys walks, playing in the yard and gets around well. Her hind leg just is somewhat inhibited. Ziggy will be spayed March 4th. She is vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, dewormed and current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee includes a free wellness exam at one of our partner vet clinics in Oregon City, Portland, Tualatin or Milwaukie. $250 adoption fee Fostered in NW Portland, Oregon APPLY TO ADOPT ZIGGY ON OUR WEBSITE: WWW.AGAVEDOGS.ORG

Story
Oh hello! My name is Fox!I've had a bit of a journey since I first came to Animal Aid, but I'm more than ready to settle down with that perfect forever family that will love me unconditionally for the rest of my life. I've had most of my teeth removed and recently lost my best dog pal, which created a lot of stress and unhappiness for me. I've been on a #selfcarejourney ever since, and now I'm confident that I can tackle the next chapter of my life.I can be a bit sensitive with handling and personal space, so it's important to me to find people that understand canine body language and know when I'm getting a bit overstimulated and need a break from physical touch. This doesn't mean I don't LOVE spending time with my favorite humans. I can be quite the cuddler and couch buddy once I feel safe. Think of me as the cat of dogs! Respect my boundaries and I'll shower you with kisses. I really like playing with dogs my size. A good pup pal would be ideal, but I could also be happy as an only child in the right home. I've lived with cats relatively peacefully, but I'm a bit more selective with the feline friends since they don't always know when to mind their own beeswax. I am a bit protective of my food around other animals, but as long as I can eat alone, I have no problem with the furry friends. My perfect home would include people that are home most of the time. I'm still working through some separation anxiety and may bark a lot when left alone. I'm learning to relax, but minimal alone time is ideal. I'm also currently going through some testing for mild health concerns and will have more information on that shortly. Other than that, I just ask for lots of toys, treats, and love! I'm in a foster home so if you would like to meet me please fill out an adoption application at www.animalaidpdx.org.Estimated DOB: 3/19/2015 Weight: 11lbs

Story
Kenny is a delightful young man, somewhere between 6 and 7 months old. We believe he is a pomeranian/chihuahua/dachshund blend. He came into foster scared to come out of his crate and trying to guard his mother. In less than a month, he's discovered he loves to play with other animals. He's been exposed to dogs his size and to medium-sized dogs and he loves playing with both. He's experimenting with toys and seems to gravitate toward something that has both a good chew and a squeaker. We haven't tried him with kids, but he's pretty friendly toward everyone he's met so far. His ideal home would be with another dog who has a strong personality and lots of play energy. Kenny is a complete mimic and will copy whatever his friends do (his new family will note that when they hear him try to howl - he copied it from his buddy here). He can be a little shy at first, but will warm up, especially if there's cheese involved. He does know his basics, like sit, come, and "uppies", and he'd love to learn more. Kenny is good in a crate. If he's out by himself, he will chew things (he's still a baby, so no surprise there). He is also a fantastic snuggler. He loves walks, is very good about doing his business while on leash, and adores dressing up. He's learned so much in the short time he's been with us; he's going to be a fantastic pup for his forever humans. Please forgive the candid shots, as Kenny is either asleep or a blur. Did I mention he really likes to play? I've enclosed snuggle time shots with Fozzy, Casey, and foster mom.
