Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Animal ID 251302Date into Rescue: 06/29/2024 Reason for being in rescue: Rocky was surrendered by his owners to a NC shelter. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from the shelter  Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Rocky is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative.  Weight: 15.5 lbs Height: 14 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No, but he would enjoy one What kind of home would be best for me? Rocky is a very loyal and protective companion, but Rocky also has some strong opinions, and one of them is very clear: He does not trust men and is NOT a fan of their company. For this reason, he's looking for a home where he can feel safe, loved and more importantly understood. Rocky is the perfect companion for a patient, confident woman who appreciates a dog with just a little spice! What can we say - this boy is all chihuahua! Because Rocky has such a strong personality, he will need to be placed with a dog-savy adopter who has experience with dogs like Rocky or is familiar with the breed and their quirks. Rocky's ideal home is a single, female adopter with no children or men in the home. He does not mind other dogs, and we think he would enjoy having another dog around, but it is not required. Rocky would also love to have a small fenced in yard as well, but it is not required as long as his adopter plans to give him plenty of walks, exercise and playtime! Most importantly, Rocky needs someone who is willing to respect his boundaries and accept his quirks.  What is my personality like? Rocky and his 3 children were surrendered by their owners to a NC animal shelter. No reason was given. Maybe they were puppies that didn't sell. There was no mama dog with the family. Regardless, we are thankful they are with us. Meet Rocky! A spunky chocolate boy with a big personality packed into his tiny frame! He's a feisty, independent boy who is a true sweetheart — if you're the right person. Rocky is very intelligent and does great with potty training and basic manners. Once Rocky trusts you, he becomes your shadow. He will follow you around the house, snuggle up on your couch and protect you from any potential intruders! He's the epitome of all things Chihuahua! He loves squeaky toys, yummy treats and basking in the sun ... Rocky deserves a human who sees his quirks as unique traits instead of challenges. If you're a woman who's looking for an independent, adorable, sassy and endlessly entertaining companion, Rocky is ready to give you his whole heart — on his terms of course. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly Other tips and tidbits: Rocky is estimated at 6 years old. We celebrate his birthday 06/29/2018. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. She was adopted but returned in January 2025 when life changed for her owners and they could no longer care for her. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Daffee is spayed and up to date on all vaccines. She had a dental on 5/19/21 and lost 4 teeth. She also had a cherry eye repaired. Daffee arrived in rescue with heartworms and was treated on 6/8/2021. Daffee is currently heartworm negative. She MUST be on regular, monhtly heartworm prevention for life. Daffee has a grade 3/6 heart murmur. She is not currently on medicine; this will require continued monitoring. Dafee is half of a bonded pair with her best friend Tim Duncan. The two will not be separated. If you don't have room in your heart for both dogs, Daffee is not your dog. Weight: 6 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $400 for Pair Fence needed? No, but she would love one. What kind of home would be best for me? First and foremost, Daffee is looking for a home with her best friend Tim Duncan. These best friends are bonded and will not be separated. She and Tim Duncan are suitable for a home or an apartment and would do well with a family or single adopters and prefer humans who are home more than they are away. She’s an easy going, mature dog who needs gentle, calm owners who keep treats on deck! She is very sweet and curious, and loves to prance around with her tiny little feet.  What is my personality like? Meet Daffee! An adorable, tiny Chihuahua who is a 5lb powerhouse packed with sass, charm and so much personality! She runs on equal parts love, snacks, and pure determination! Daffee is not interested in the whole platonic soulmate type-of-thing, she’s a “down to earth” kind of gal and she’s ready for the real thing! Oh and she comes with her own personal sidekick … We mean companion! Daffee is bonded to another Chihuahua who she came into rescue with and his name is Tim Duncan! The two make the perfect pair! Daffee’s dream is to find an adopter who is willing to adopt them both and provide a calm, loving environment they both so willingly deserve. Daffee and Tim do everything together; they eat together, they sleep together, they go outside every morning together, so it is very important that their potential adopters are aware of what bonded pairs are. In simpler terms, they are everything each other needs, other than a home and humans! Daffee prefers to live in style, preferably with humans who understand that she’s the queen and this is her kingdom! Daffee is a very independent girl who loves all types of treats, playing with Tim Duncan and basking in the sun. Her hobbies include judging you from the comfort of her cozy blanket, demanding snacks with her “feed me” stare, and sitting on your lap serving as your own personal heater! She is a pocket-sized princess who is a foodie and celebrity (in her opinion) and she desperately needs at least one human devoted to worshiping her and Tim Duncan’s adorable little paws. Here is what Daffee's previous owners had to say about her..."BG (Beegee) or baby girl. She is a sweet old soul. You will know when she has found her person (she chooses them not the other way around) by her carrying a sock of theirs around whimpering then burying it somewhere such as in a dog bed or behind pillows on the bed. She is not a lover of walks. She enjoys a cruise instead in a stroller with the wind in her hair. She will do a happy little dance when she is put in her safe space which is usually the bed her owner sleeps in or the couch. She loves to lay around and be with her person wherever they are. Tim Duncan and Baby girl are a bonded pair. They wrestle together and comfort one another. They are the best of friends sharing food and treats. Their favorite treats are baby carrots in tiny pieces." If you’re looking for endless love and entertainment, look no further, they are TWICE the fun! How do I act when I first meet new people? Daffee can be a little reserved at first and will sort of avoid you until you have something yummy to offer! But if you have treats and remain calm and patient she will surely open up to you. S Other tips and tidbits: Daffee's estimated birthday is 3/25/2018 House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. Weight: 8 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $400 For the Pair Fence needed? No, but he would love one What kind of home would be best for me? First and foremost, Tim Duncan is looking for a home with his best friend Daffee. These best friends are bonded and will not be separated. He and Daffee are suitable for a home or an apartment and would do well with a family or single adopters and prefer humans who are home more than they are away. He’s an easy going, mature dog who is looking for gentle, calm owners who will unconditionally provide love and support for the pair. He wants humans who have low expectations of him, and a firm belief that your dogs are the most important creatures on earth!  What is my personality like? Meet Tim Duncan - a quiet, sweet Chihuahua with the heart the size of a lion and the body of a baked potato. He is the gentle, and thoughtful type who prefers to observe the world from the safety of his cozy spot! His resume - Following his bestie, Daffee, around, providing emotional support and occasionally staring into the void for dramatic effect! Think of him as the Robin to her Batman, the peanut butter to her jelly, the shadow that never leaves her side. They are a bonded pair who came together and need to remain together. If you take Tim Duncan, Daffee says she MUST come along too! While Tim may be a bit reserved at first, once he feels safe, his soft eyes and tender heart will melt yours, He’s a “let's all sit quietly and watch the world together” kind of guy. Obviously Tim Duncan’s ideal, perfect home includes Daffee but he also requires a fence as well to ensure he gets plenty of outdoor playtime and exercise! He is looking for a patient, loving home where he can continue to blossom. Tim Duncan enjoys things like yummy treats, back scratches, frolicking in the sun and following Daffee around of course! If you’re willing to give him a little time and patience, you’ll uncover a world of sweetness. He desperately needs adopters who will appreciate his quiet, gentle presence and willingness to take him and his dear friend. He’s the velcro apprentice, the backup dancer, and emotional support Chihuahua for Daffee and they make the most perfect pair! Here's what Tim Duncan's previous owners had to say about him...."He is a big personality in a small package. He is spunky and loves to take a walk on a leash and does well when given time. He enjoys just being with his person whether that is hanging out on the couch asleep at their head or being their co pilot on an adventure. He is sometimes a grump but that is just his age. He has a little pur that maybe interpreted incorrectly when he is happy. He will sing with you such as happy birthday or sympathy howl with a tiny human if he is connected to them. He is loyal but does vocally greet people and collect their pets and love." If you’re looking for endless love and entertainment, look no further, they are TWICE the fun! How do I act when I first meet new people? Tim Duncan is a low key dog. He is gentle and quiet. Don't expect him to run up and greet you - he's more likely to wait and watch and approach on his terms. Once he determines you're okay, he will be very happy for you to shower him with pets and affection. Other tips and tidbits: Tim Duncan's birthday is 1/28/2014 House trained? Dora is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Weight: 5 lbs Height: 7 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? Yes. Dora will be happiest with the security of a fenced yard where she can run and play freely. She absolutely LOVES to be outside and hates to be contained. What kind of home would be best for me? Dora is young and active and looking for an experienced home. We're looking for a very specific home for Dora. Our first preference is for a family with experience with her breed. Chihuahuas are wonderful but not for the faint of heart (if you know you know!). Dora requires another young, small, active dog in the home that will play with her and model confident behaviors. She can be timid about larger dogs. Cats are fine. If you have children, they need to be over 10 and have grown up with dogs. Dora is small and does not like unexpected movements. And finally, you need a physically fenced yard that will allow Dora to run and play freely under your supervision. No doggie doors - this girl is WAY too small and easy prey! What is my personality like? Miss Dora (aka the Explorer) is 50 pounds of personality packed into 5 pounds of body. Found as a stray wandering the NC streets, Dora is a bit of a free spirit who we suspect simply took herself on an adventure. Dora LOVES other small dogs. She is the best and happiest version of herself with another playful, small dog that will engage in tug of warm, chasing all the insects from the fenced yard, and even snuggle to rest. Humans are a-okay too, Dora is just less sure about them. Dora is your typical strong-willed, bossy chihuahua. She has a voice and is not afraid to use it. She is comfortable with a crate for a safe space in her foster home. A trailing lead is going to be key for her first 30 days - for her safety and yours. Dora will benefit greatly from group positive reinforcement training. She is learning all things potty training in her foster home and will continue in her forever home. Dora sleeps happily in a crate or dog bed, though she will sneak up to snuggle in your bed if you have stairs to allow her access in the middle of the night. Miss personality has so much potential that will blossom in the right home! How do I act when I first meet new people? Dora will not run up to greet you. She prefers to sit back and watch you. Once she is comfortable she will sneak into your lap for all the cuddles. Other tips and tidbits: Dora was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on her. Based on her overall health and condition she is estimated at 4 years old. We celebrate her birthday 02/02/2021. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. Dolly is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Our best guess is that Dolly is a chihuahua / dachshund mix (she is long and lean). Only a DNA test will confirm. She is 100% adorable. She is not hypoallergenic and definitely sheds. Weight: 6.5 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? Yes. Dolly loves to do zoomies and simply is not confident on a leash. She is a flight risk so the safety of a physically fenced yard is for her protection and yours. What kind of home would be best for me? We're looking for a very specific home for Dolly. Our first preference is for a family with experience rehabilitating a dog that as had very little life experience. Though she came out of a home, it was not a normal home. Dolly requires another young, small, active dog in the home that will play with her and model confident behaviors. She can be timid about larger dogs. Cats are fine. If you have children, they need to be over 10 and have grown up with dogs. Dolly is small and does not like unexpected movements. Dolly must have a physically fenced yard. She knows nothing about walking on leashes and will bolt if she gets out. She LOVES to run zoomies and a physically fenced yard gives her this flexibility. Sorry, but this means no apartments for our girl. And finally, no doggie doors - Dolly is WAY too small and easy prey! What is my personality like? Beautiful, sweet Dolly was one of dozens of small dogs seized in a hoarding case. Raised in a filthy home by 2 drug addicts, her life has been sheltered at best. While she was technically a pet, pet meant something entirely different than what we know and appreciate. Now in foster for 2 months, Dolly has really learned what being cherished and clean and well cared for means and she thinks she likes it! Once Dolly knows you, she loves you completely. She is a dog that enjoys playing with toys, playing with other dogs, ALL the lap time and snuggles and kisses galore. Dolly rides confidently in a car. Dolly is a sleep in the bed, cuddle in your lap, eager to be a pampered princess sort of girl. How do I act when I first meet new people? Dolly is a sweet and gentle girl. She will not enthusiastically approach you; in fact, she will likely shy away. But allow someone that she knows and trusts to pick her up and hand her to you and she will melt into your arms. Other tips and tidbits: There was no information or records found on the scene when Keira was seized by animal control.  Our staff and the shelter vet have estimated her birthdate to be 12/27/23 based on teeth and overall behavior.   House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 03/05/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Judy was born into rescue Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? She will be adopted on a spay/neuter addendum that requires you to spay her at your cost within 9 months and provide proof of spay. Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Puppies are always in need of a canine friend; they love to run and play with one another. Puppies are active, agile little babies, they need homes that are ready to tire them out both mentally and physically. Puppies are generally very well-rounded dogs, they do not meet strangers and would do well with a nice big family or a single owner! What matters most to a puppy is a happy and excited owner ready to take on loving and training their new puppy! When raised around cats, with proper boundaries, puppies do very well. If you expect your puppy to get alone with your feline buddy, it’s important to start socializing the puppy with the cat as soon as you can!  What is my personality like? Judy is a bit of a wild child. She’s tiny but mighty. Judy typically entertains herself and she’s the kind of gal who doesn’t need anyone to be her friend. She loves to take longggg naps after wearing herself out all day and she’s super affectionate with her human and doggy friends. Judy loves to give kisses, and she loves a snuggle buddy. She is not afraid to try new things or meet new people whatever the challenge is she’s ready. Judy is the happiest little girl, and she strives to make her people happy too. She will bring so much light to someone’s life one day, between her silly faces, or zoomie attacks, even down to her weird noises she makes when she’s sleeping, she never fails to put a smile on her caregivers' face. PUPPY POLICY: Thank you for carefully considering the addition of a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience, but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. Since our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious with puppies. We like to stress 3 major things when considering a puppy vs. an adult dog: 1) many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who find themselves in rescue through no fault of their own, 2) adult dogs are eager to share their love and bond with their new family, and 3) puppies will always require far more time, energy, and training than an adult dog. Our ideal puppy adopters are: -experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets -scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day and have another canine companion already in the home -stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc.) How do I act when I first meet new people? Judy is FULL of personality. She's the smallest of the litter but makes up for it with sheer joy. Judy loves everyone and loves to show you her playful side. Other tips and tidbits: Judy was born 01/09/2025 House trained? Thank you for considering CPR. March 6, 2025, 3:12 pm
