All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped. * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $500 Haystack is a 2 year Chow Chow who is the rare strand of gold you’ve been searching for. Haystack was rescued from a yard in Southern California with a few other Chows. Our Director has a soft spot for these teddy bears so we agreed to take them in sight unseen. Well, they came in like dust bunnies and there the name came! Haystack is a typical Chow who has been coming out of his shell with his experienced foster home and we are excited to find him in his next adventure! Haystack is a quintessential Chow from tip to tail. When he first meets you, he is standoffish until he has the chance to observe you and your routine. Once he gets a sense of his environment, he is happy to go with the flow. Haystack was very undersocialized when he arrived to our rescue, so his foster has been working hard on making him comfortable around humans as he has settled in. Now? He loves his foster humans and is devoted to them, just as he will be towards you. Haystack loves jumping on the bed (or a trampoline) and it is amazing to see his silly side come out during playtime. He is pretty laid back and lower energy, so he would love to cuddle and watch TV with you. As the summer comes closer, you’ll be thankful for the sprinkler-like way Haystack drinks water (maybe, ha!). Haystack wakes up around 9 AM and has breakfast in his crate before going out to potty. He spends his days either lounging inside on a soft bed or in the yard soaking up the sunshine. After a long day of being adorable, Haystack has dinner at 5:30 PM followed by cuddles as he watches TV until he is ready for bed. Haystack’s ideal home is one where he can bond with his humans and enjoy a quieter life. He wants to love you and be your loyal buddy. We would prefer his forever home be Chow experienced with the breed to ensure he continues getting all the training and confidence building his foster humans have started. He just needs a home who can be confident when he needs a safety blanket. Haystack cohabitates with a small dog and another Chow currently and they get along well. He needs a slow introduction to new people and would be a fit for a quieter home environment. Haystack has been on a few walks and has done well on a leash. He is potty trained and crate trained. Come find your needle in a haystack and meet Mr. Haystack! Haystack is only an option for Chow-experienced homes. Kids should be over the age of 15.April 16, 2025, 9:03 pm
