Story
Penny is a gorgeous 2 year old girl, who needs a home that will give her time to adjust as she can be a little nervous.  She is very very sweet, is good with dogs as long as they are not "right in her face" but who likes anyone being right up in our faces!!  She would do best with older children, and would love a fenced in yard to run and play in.  One where she has freedom to relax, lay in the sun, or chase after a ball. Please go to the link to fill our our adoption application.  https://www.remembermerescueny.net/adoption-application  Remember Me Rescue does not adopt out of the local area, no transport is available.  We adopt to Long Island, Westchester, NYC area and parts of Connecticut only. Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you! ##1789108##

Story
Riley, born in January or February of 2015 is a tricolor, smooth coat, collie/border collie mix with some brindle markings on his legs. He has experienced 2 failed adoptions. He was adopted from us when he was about 6 months old and was returned to us 3 years later when the male member of the adoptive family, who had Alzheimer’s, became abusive toward him. In time he began developing his self-confidence again and began to lose his fear of men. Even though he was still somewhat leery of men he didn’t know, he would actually seek attention from men with whom he was familiar. He got along well with the dogs in his foster home but he behaved aggressively toward any new foster dog that periodically come in. He is not good with cats as he showed aggression toward the clinic cat at our vet’s office. Riley was adopted a second time, but after a year of trying different techniques to manage Riley’s difficult behaviors his second adopter felt that she could no longer handle him and once again Riley was returned to us. He left us weighing 55 pounds and returned, markedly overweight, at 78 pounds. He is now back to a healthy weight. Riley has had extensive training. He is quite smart and learns quickly. He rides well in a car and walks well on a leash unless he meets a dog while out on the walk, in which case he will pull and act aggressively. Riley is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is being kept on heartworm and flea and tick prevention to maintain his good health. Riley is located in Arkansas. His adoption donation is $415 which includes the $165 transport fee. If you would like to adopt Riley, the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. MARGO was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas and  arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine on Friday, 14th February. We post our available dogs in states across the east coast and Canada to reach as many people as possible in hopes to find perfect homes and families. We do not transport dogs, families must come to the rescue to meet and then hopefully take home.. MARGO is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm and tick tested negative, is on monthly flea/tick prevention and was given the 12 month pro-heart heartworm prevention injection in February 2025. She is microchipped and on 12 February weighed 58.20 pounds. She has an estimated date of birth of January 2023.  We do not know what the breed is, we expect families to decide looking at any pictures and video's provide and decide if the breed is a good fit for their family. The shelter volunteer stated (8 January) Dog didn't mind the other and made way away from others to relax to self for some time and showed some playful energy with the others once getting warmed up with the group. (16 January) High energy, jumpy, social with people, loose wiggly body, wants to play and run, high energy. (22 January) During the observation Margo was a good girl, she listens to the command sit and has a burst of energy. (28 January) High energy, jumpy, knows sit, knows shake, leash puller. Social with dogs and people, loose wiggly body. Love bug, wants to play, wants to run, solicits pets. Knows sit, shake, energetic, jumper, loves to run interests in dogs leash reactive.  (Rescue comments - it is important to take into account when reading these comments that these dogs are in a strange environment with a lot of dogs, and they are learning about each other in a very small space of time, it is high stimulation environment, also often the first time they have had exercise with other dogs.  Comments are from volunteers, not trainers or behavio rists). We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. MARGO is available for adoption for an adoption fee of $550, as noted she is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine and families are required to complete and submit an  adoption application and when approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and hopefully take home this sweet girl. Applications are processed with 24 hours of them being received. Link to the Adoption Application To look at lots more photo's be sure to check out our    Facebook Page ALBUMS    where we are able to upload hundreds of photos of our dogs waiting for their forever homes and families.
