Shepherd was picked up at the post office here in Stephenville and was never reclaimed. So far at the shelter, he has been a sweet but skittish boy. He walks decent on the leash but has to be guided into crates. He does fine once in them apart from occasionally growling at the dogs next to him. He does not like loud noises nor people coming at him too quickly. He has been very mellow here. We do not know if he is potty trained. He does know basic commands. We will update further as we get to know him better. Shepherd has received his DHPP and Bordetella vaccinations. He is neutered, de-wormed, heartworm negative and on prevention, and microchipped. He does need a rabies vaccine. ECHS does not reserve adoptable animals for the public. Adoptions are first come first serve the day of availability. Please note that availability is subject to change at any point in time per ECHS discretion.

Meet Cash, an absolute gem with a smile that will melt your heart! This lovable, charming goofdog walks like a champ on the leash, gives fantastic hugs, and likes to roll over for belly rubs. While he's still working on being house-trained with the help of his dedicated foster mom, he's already a pro at making friends with dogs of all sizes. Plus he keeps his cool around the horses and pig at his foster home. Cash hasn't shown much interest in toys yet. Instead, he enjoys showering his favorite humans with love and resting his head on them. If you're looking for a devoted companion and best friend, Cash is your guy! Rowdy was adopted from us in 2023 but was returned due to housing issues. He is good with kids of all ages and good with other dogs. He is not friendly with cats, and is unknown on how he is with livestock. He has been potty trained, but could use a refresher. He is fully vaccinated, microchipped dewormed and neutered. Hound was adopted out from us in February of 2024, and was brought back due to the family moving. Hound is good with dogs and cat, but her owners did say that she wasn't good with young children. Hound is good with being crated at home or being left to free roam. Hound has received all of her vaccinations, wormer, a microchip, is spayed. She is also heartworm negative and on prevention. ECHS does not reserve adoptable animals for the public. Adoptions are first come first serve the day of availability. Jewel was found out in Dublin. She had recently weaned puppies, but none were found out with her. She is an extremely friendly girl that does not like being left out by herself and we have learned she will climb chain link fences to go to wherever the people are. She can be a little hesitant to get into crates and does need a little guidance but does well once she gets into one. She walks well on a leash, but will pull to go after any squirrels she may encounter. Jewel can be very energetic and does need some time to run or play to help get that energy out. Her previous foster stated she is house trained, however when she was left alone she would chew up shoes and cords. She loves attention and will lean against the door of crates and kennels to get any. She does not like getting groomed or bathed. She has done well with other dogs in her foster. She will resource guard any food or food items when any other dogs is around. She would need to be fed in a separate room if adopted in a house with other dogs. A meet and greet is always highly recommended with any current household dogs. Jewel has received all her vaccinations and de-wormer. She is microchipped, spayed, and heartworm negative and on prevention. ECHS does not reserve adoptable animals for the public. Adoptions are first come first serve the day of availability.
