Story
Raffi was living a lonely life on the streets and was so scared when he was rescued by Hope For Paws Rescue. They chased him for quite some time before they were finally able to catch him. We teamed up with Hope For Paws to help find Raffi his forever home. Raffi is shy with people he does not know but warms up once he gets to know you and feels safe. It does take him time to come out of his shell so he will need someone who is patient. He has limited hearing but he can hear louder sounds. He will need an experienced owner as he needs guidance and someone to build his confidence. Raffi loves other dogs and he will need a home with another confident dog that he can watch and learn from. He is good with cats too. He will need a calm household where he is not left for long hours and no young children but calm older children are okay. Raffi loves to go on walks and rides well in the car. Raffi is about 8-9 years old and weighs 9 pounds. In September 2021, Raffi was diagnosed with a mild heart murmur caused by early stage mitral valve disease. He was seen by a cardiologist in late September 2021 and again in for a recheck in June 2022 where he got an echocardiogram. He does not need any medication or treatment at this time but will need annual check-ups with a cardiologist to monitor his heart. Raffi is also fully vetted: neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines, flea/heartworm treated. And Raffi just had a full vet exam, senior blood panel with thyroid test, urinalysis, heartworm test, fecal test, dental cleaning, mouth x-rays and chest x-rays in September 2022 so he should not need any vetting at this time. If you are serious about adopting Raffi and have a vet near you willing to work with our rescue, we will cover his vetting and cardiology. Or you can take him to our vet in the Los Angeles area for his vetting and cardiology needs.

❗Current Location: South Korea❗ Meet Lylla :) • Personality: She is affectionate, full of energy, loves to have fun, and adapts well to new things. She likes both people and dogs and cats (she'll play with them). She also loves to play in the park or the mountains. When she's excited, she'll purr to show her excitement. She loves to be held - she wants to fall asleep with you in your arms. She's the best dog ever! • She rides so well that if you open the car door she gets in by herself, and she doesn't get car sick at all. If you like traveling she would make a really good buddy! • She loves playing with other dogs, running in the park, cuddles, kisses, sleeping with you, walks, hikes, and delicious food (fruit, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, cheese, meat) and treats!

Story
he's no so happy... Happy is a one year old Dachshund who is currently UNhappy. Happy has been through a lot. He experienced some mobility issues when he was just a wee pup, but has worked through them and has become remarkably better and stronger. Unfortunately, the family who adopted him has given him back to rescue when they experienced some unexpected life changes. Now happy is frightened and wondering what happened to his family who loved him so much. Happy knows his commands (sit, shake, and stay). He knows what it means to "go outside", "go the the bathroom," "go upstairs/downstairs" and "crunchy time" when it's time to eat. He is energetic and playful and gets along with other dogs. He loves to play with toys and balls all on his own. Happy's mobility is compromised. He can play and rough house like any normal dog and he can go for little walks, but he does tire and needs to rest after a bit. Happy needs a family who can understand this and accept him for who he is. He is warm and affectionate, silly, and sweet and has lots of love to give that person who will take him into their heart and home and love him unconditionally. Happy has had a rough beginning but he is looking for a happy ending. If you are interested in adopting Happy, please email animalprayers@gmail.com for an application.

Story
*COURTESY POST* (TRIO will be at our adoption event on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Petco Crossroads, Crenshaw and Lomita Blvd, from 1200 to 300 pm. Come on down and meet this awesome little guy!) Meet Trio! Trio is a sweet boy, 4 years old, weighing about 11 lbs. Trio is a dachshund and chihuahua mix. At one time in Trio's life, he was attacked by a big dog and had to have his right rear leg amputated but that hasn't slowed him down one bit. He runs circles at high speed in the yard playing with the other foster dogs at his foster home. He does get along with other dogs. He loves walks and going for rides in the car. Trio is up to date on his vaccinations, neutered and microchipped. If you’re interested in TRIO, please email his foster mom Debbie @ jescrosliny@gmail.com

Story
If you’re interested in knowing more about JACK, please email his foster mom directly at: alikat52@yahoo.com for a quicker response. Meet Jack – our sweet Tripod! Jack is approximately 5 years of age and weighs in at 11 lbs. He is a Chiweenie, Dachshund Chihuahua mix (according to his DNA test). Jack has a story to tell! He was hit by a car on Halloween night, 2024 and was left in a box on the side of the road. A good Samaritan found him and our rescue took him in. He had severe injuries and required surgery where pins and wires on his right elbow were required. His left shoulder sustained extensive nerve damage, and on December 26, 2024, his left leg had to be amputated. Having three legs has not stopped Jack from being a spunky little guy - dogs are so resilient!!! Jack currently resides in a foster home with 4 dogs and several cats. He is a quiet, loving, lap dog. He loves being close to his humans, if you sit down, he is right there jumping into your lap. He enjoys going for walks and riding in the dog stroller observing his surroundings. He enjoys playing with squeaky toys! Jack is fine with his foster canine siblings but is reactive to larger dogs. He would do better as an only dog or, we believe with proper introduction, he would do well with another small dog closer to his size. Jacks foster is retired so he is rarely home alone. A home with a secure yard would be perfect for him. It would be best if he were in an adult home with older children. He does have difficulty with stairs. He is doing well with housetraining but does have a few accidents now and then. Having a potty schedule is helping him a lot! Jack is up to date on his vaccinations, neutered, microchipped. A meet and greet can be arranged with an approved adoption application. An application can be found on our website: whiskerstails.org. If you’re interested in knowing more about JACK, please email his foster mom directly at: alikat52@yahoo.com
