Story
This puppy Is spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, treated for all of the intestinal parasites, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Because intestinal parasites are cyclical, your puppy may need additional treatment once you get him/her home. This is common and nothing to be alarmed about. Puppies and dogs need to be treated periodically for parasites throughout their entire lives. The adoption fee is $550 if your adoption is prepaid prior to your pup's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on puppies that are picked up from our Southbury CT adoption center, adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368. WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on cprdogs.com for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you! More and more of our adopters are having fun with DNA tests on their pups. You might ask yourself why our breed guess is varying degrees of difference from the DNA tests. Most of our puppies are rescued from high kill shelters or other abandonment situations and we have no info on parents. When we rescue puppies that have no background info, we make our very best educated guess as to breed mix and age. Our guesstimate comes from years and years and years of animal welfare work and training, but our guesses won't always agree with your vet, your neighbor, your DNA test, etc. The most important thing to know about your puppy's breed mix is that most likely he/she is a Super Lovable Mutt made of many many many different breeds. If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at the Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05. TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get an automatically generated confirmation email. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back. After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! If you have not heard from one of our volunteers within 5 days of submitting your application, please email mollibo@gmail.com.

Story
LUCKY IS IN HIS FOSTER HOME IN MEMPHIS, TN AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED TO CT ONCE HE IS ADOPTED!    Lucky is his name, and he has EARNED it. This parvo survivor is a 5-6 month old mixed breed puppy. His mom was a dachshund, and his dad is a complete guess. He is only 20 lbs, and we don't expect him to get much bigger. He loves other dogs and children, but Lucky is afraid of cats. He is working on house breaking with a few accidents here and there, but he is currently training being taken out often and especially after eating. He will pick it up soon! He loves balls and toys. His favorite thing to do is get up in your lap and cuddle when he is tired.   Lucky is fully vetted including neuter, microchip, puppy shots as well as rabies shot. His adoption fee of $550 includes the transport to CT. We use a licensed and registered USDA transport company that will bring Lucky up north after he is adopted.  To apply to adopt Lucky, go here:  http://www.newbeginningsanimalrescue.net .    Any Questions, email us at newbeginnings_animalrescue@yahoo.com .  THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING ADOPTING A RESCUED PET!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 1:30 pm

Story
This adorable puppy is Leona. She is 3-months-old and weighs 12 lb. She is what we call in rescue a "low rider" and looks to have some dachshund in her. We expect she will be about 30 lb full grown. Leona is very sweet, friendly, playful and happy. She is looking for a home ready for puppy training and lots of love! We expect Leona will be great with children, cats and other dogs. She needs a home where she won't be alone for more than 4 hours so she can have playtime and training. Leona is currently in our "Puppy Preschool" kennel at our shelter. Leona is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and healthy. Her adoption fee is $475. If you would like to meet/adopt Leona, please complete our online application at https://daws.org/daws-forms or stop by our shelter Wednesday-Sunday between 12 and 6 PM. The DAWS shelter address is 147 Grassy Plain St. Bethel. Email daws@daws.org if you need assistance or have any questions. Leona can't wait to meet you! Story
&#226&#151&#143 Energy level: low (on crate rest) &#226&#151&#143 Potty trained: needs assistance &#226&#151&#143 Fenced yard needed: no &#226&#151&#143 Shared walls ok: no &#226&#151&#143 People: all &#226&#151&#143 Dogs: friendly with small dogs &#226&#151&#143 Other: special needs with mobility and bladder expression   Overview Meet Printz, a sweet 6 year and 4 months old red smooth coat dachshund who's looking for a special family to cherish him. At 17.2 pounds, this loving boy proves that good things come in medium packages! Despite facing some mobility challenges, Printz maintains a wonderfully positive attitude and has a heart full of love to share.   Environment Printz is seeking a patient and nurturing home where someone can be present most of the time, as he gets a bit anxious when left alone. While he's currently on crate rest due to a back injury and needs help with mobility, he still enjoys the simple pleasures in life. He does well walking with assistance using a sling and is perfectly content in homes without a yard. He's well-behaved in his crate when his family needs to step out, but he can be vocal so shared walls are probably not a good idea. His reasonable energy needs and gentle nature make him an excellent companion.   Pets & People Printz is a very loving dog who thrives on human connection and wants nothing more than to be near his person. While initially shy, he quickly warms up to show his affectionate personality. He's a social butterfly with other small dogs and does very well in multi-dog households, but is untested with children or cats. He can be vocal around larger dogs, but this is likely due to his size and mobility situation. He's gentle when taking treats and very food-motivated, which makes him easy to bond with.    Health Printz has some special medical needs that require a dedicated family. He currently needs assistance with bladder and bowel expression due to his back injury. He can take trazodone as needed to help manage any discomfort or anxiety. His mobility requires some extra support, and he uses a sling to help him walk comfortably. These needs are manageable with the right care routine, and his sweet personality makes it all worthwhile.   Location Printz is available for adoption from Gastonia, NC. Due to his special needs, he would prefer a home within a reasonable driving distance, as he can find long car rides challenging. Please email autenlinda@yahoo.com with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee is $375.00  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 3, 2025, 6:52 pm

Story
Please ensure you understand and can meet the needs of this dog before applying.   &#226&#151&#143 Potty training: trained &#226&#151&#143 Dogs: bonded with sister Lady Ava and they will need to be the only dogs in the home &#226&#151&#143 Fenced yard: preferred but not required &#226&#151&#143 Shared walls: suitable &#226&#151&#143 People: all (not tested with kids)   Overview Meet Asa, a sweet and devoted 12-year-old pup weighing 16 lbs with a handsome tan coat. He came to Little Paws with his sister Ava when their previous owner could no longer care for them, and now they're looking for their perfect retirement home together.   Environment Like his sister, Asa enjoys moderate activity and does well on walks. While a yard would be nice, it's not essential. He can live in shared spaces but potential neighbors should know he is very enthusiastic about mealtimes and treats, and he's working on his "indoor voice" when excited about dinner. He's typically quiet throughout most of the day, though.    Asa is housetrained but he does best with a consistent schedule to prevent stress-related accidents. He isn't a fan of being picked up, which can be challenging for car rides or stairs. His ideal home would be mindful of this and be patient with his preferences. Asa and Ava share a crate at night, which shows how bonded they are. Like his sister, Asa's more relaxed in the mornings and early afternoons, getting a bit more active in the evenings. Asa can become more vocal and restless in the evenings and is currently taking supplements to support this.   Pets & People Asa is the ultimate devoted brother - wherever his sister Ava goes, he's right behind her! While initially shy with new people, he takes his cues from Ava and warms up beautifully once he sees she is comfortable. He hasn't been tested with children yet. When it comes to other dogs on walks, he's generally easygoing, though he might join in if his sister starts barking. During more anxious moments, he finds comfort in long-lasting treats, puzzle toys, and of course, his sister's presence.    Location Asa and his sister Ava are available for adoption from Salem, MA. Their combined adoption fee is $500. Asa settles well in the car once situated in his bed so some travel is ok. Please email fosternorth@littlepawsdr.org with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 3, 2025, 9:39 am
