Story
Hi, I’m Libby! I’m a short-stack pup that is good mix of energetic and chill. I love my walks—there’s nothing better than getting out and exploring. I also enjoy my food, squeaky toys, and naps (I have the cutest little snore, by the way!). I’m totally okay with getting attention, but I’m not the type to demand it all the time. I used to live in a house with another dog and loved the company. I’m curious and friendly, always up for a little sniff to say hello! As for being left alone, I don’t like it much. I prefer having company, but I’m also not a fan of car rides—they make me anxious. What makes me special? Well, I’ll be your shadow! I love to know what you’re up to and I’m never too far away. I like being petted, but only when I’m in the mood—on my terms, you know? I think I’d fit into almost any family, though I might not be the best fit for families with small children since I’m a bit more laid-back and sleepy. I’m a good girl who doesn’t need much training—just a little help with my anxiety, and I’ll be your loyal companion forever!

Story
Lucky is a purebred, dapple, wirehaired dachshund. He is 2 yrs old. He is very high energy. He barks at new people and large dogs. He does get along with his two small dog siblings. He is looking for a home where he can be a solo pet or be able to get lots of attention and exercise. He loves toys and treats. He knows some commands like sit, stay, leave it, drop it. He could use more training on calming his anxiety around loud sounds. We are hoping to find a family for him that can give him the exercise and attention he needs.

Story
Kash is 7 He is a super chill, laid back and calm dog. You can take him anywhere. He;s been on planes, cross country roads trips in tight cars, supermarkets, stores and has behaved very well. Not much of a barker. Extremely friendly with people and gentle with kids. Has gotten along well with other dogs at dog parks and in sitter;s homes, however does take him some time to warm up to new dogs as he initially tends to bark at them until he becomes comfortable. Kash LOVES attention from literally anyone, LOVES to be rubbed 24/7. LOVES food/treats, chasing squirrels/rabbits. No current health problems, does need to lose about 5-7lbs. YOU: I am looking to rehome him in a home that he will get lots of attention, stimulation and activity (ideally someone who works from home or doesn;t work long hours, has another dog, large family/kids to play with him) these are not requirements but more or less an environment I feel Kash will thrive in and is what I;m seeking out for Kash.

Story
Meet Sparky!  Sparky was part of the group of seniors that came to us several weeks ago after their human mom passed away and their human dad was forced to leave the family home - leaving no where for these poor babies to go. Since they technically would have been considered owner surrenders in a county with an extremely small shelter, they would have been euthanized immediately if a rescue didn’t step up to help them.  Sparky is about 12 years old with lots of life left to live! He’s obviously great with other dogs since he lived as part of a pack for most of his life, but he’s also adjusted quite nicely to being the King of the Castle in his foster home! He would love to join a quiet, dachshund loving home so that he can thoroughly enjoy his retirement!!  Does that sound like you? Story
Meet Lucy! Lucy was part of the group of seniors that came to us in early July after their human mom passed away and their human dad was forced to leave the family home - leaving no where for these poor babies to go. Since they technically would have been considered owner surrenders in a county with an extremely small shelter, they would have been euthanized immediately if a rescue didn’t step up to help them.   We think Lucy 8-9 years old and when she first came to us she was the grumbly one. NOW she’s a total love bug or love-butterfly! She’s lost 5 pounds and though still might look thick on her pics, it’s lots of loose skin. She’s an under the cover sleeper and great with all dogs and even cats! Lucy is still a bit timid and seems more nervous around men. She will definitely need at least one other more confident dog in the home and at least one female adult human. An all female home would be absolutely perfect for her but she would probably do ok with a calm, gentle man as long as she also had her emotional support woman there too. Lucy also does require a fenced yard as she gains confidence on leash     Interested in adopting? Story
Because of being used for just breeding, Diddle  hasn’t been socialized with different people and tends to cling onto one person at a time. It will take him a bit to truly warm up but he’s a Dachshund! We prefer a quiet adult home with no kids because he gets nervous with a lot of noise and changing faces. He might be fine after some time but initially he will need to go slowly. Age: 3 years WT:  18lbs. Temperament: Good with all dogs and adults   Vetting: neutered, up to date on vaccines, HW negative Training: crate trained, house trained, knows a few commands. For questions, please email loramyers51@yahoo.com     To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. We are 100% donation-funded and our fees are equivalent to (or less than) the cost to fully vet a new dog yourself. March 13, 2025, 9:18 am

Story
Meet Boone, a gorgeous and super silly long haired red male, who also happens to be an IVDD survivor. He arrived with a back injury and has gone through surgery. He's still primarily paralyzed but does have some tiny movement in his legs. But don't let that fool you into thinking he's slowed down at all. HECK NO!!! This boy is a professional when it comes to scooting or asking to be carried...and he's up for just about any adventure you care to take him on. He adores the car and wants to be with his people all the time. His bladder does need to be expressed, which is ridiculously easy and not messy at all. Just a little press on his abdomen & wheeee....you're done. Let us show you how. It makes him the most perfectly house-trained dog. WIN!!! Honestly whether he walks or scoots, he's the happiest little camper ever. Mr. Social !!! He has a real zest for life and brings joy to everyone he meets. Boone does enjoy his wheelie cart but b/c he's got such good foot placement when supported, we are encouraging him to keep strengthening his leg muscles to stand. If you know DREAM, you know we never give up. Because thru dreams, most anything is possible. Well almost anything....just not cats for Boone. He thinks they are toys and he will not stop chasing them. Unfortunately, he will annoy the heck out of the cats. DREAM has helped dogs of all capability levels and we believe this guy is really easy to care for. Resource material is available for you to order as well. One of the original board members wrote this extremely helpful book about day to day life with a "down dog".... Honey Have You Squeezed the Dachshund. If you are interested in adopting Boone, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Boone's adoption fee is $350. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Boone will go to his / her new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Almost every dog's veterinary expense is greater than our adoption fees. DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back. Follow us on Instagram , Facebook and Twitter

Story
Dutches My name is Dutches, and I am a cheerleader for the best qualities of the dachshund breed. I am loving. I am cute. I am fearless. I have the big eyes. I have the long ears. I have the cuddles. I have the guard dog bark. I am a six year old girl, black and tan, and very shiny!. I am friendly to everyone I meet. I love to sit and watch television. I love to play with toys. I love to wrestle with my Dachshund friends. I love to bark through the fence. I also have a couple of the qualities dachshunds are famous for that are maybe not the best. I have a couple of health issues that my new home will need to be aware of. I have had a problem with my back, and although I can walk again fine I am still working on getting better and better at walking straight and on my bladder and bowel control. My foster mom is taking me to physical therapy and doing exercise exercises with me that will help make me stronger in that way, and my new home will need to continue those. I had a severe bout of bladder stones, and now I eat a special food for the rest of my life to make sure I won’t need to have surgery on my bladder again. DREAM has helped dogs of all capability levels and we believe Dutches really easy to care for. Resource material is available for you to order as well. Story
Chester and Oscar Mayer are a pair of lovely mature fellas looking for a home together. Chester and Oscar are two of the youngest seniors their foster mom and dad have ever known. They were both surrendered when their owners could no longer care for them. They would enjoy staying with each other as they get along very well. They are both pretty chill and we feel would be fine with other dogs or together. They both respond well to recall and have not exhibited any signs of running behavior so a fence would be preferred but not required as a harness and leash walking would be fine. Chester: Loves to snuggle under blankets Plays with toys - Loves to play chase with Oscar Slightly overweight and is on a reduction plan Enjoys walks Gets along with small dogs, no cats or big dogs Likes sleeping in the big bed with humans (under blanket) but will sleep in his own bed Well house trained Does not like crying babies on the TV-well, who does really, 😆 Loves sunny spots Oscar: Loves to snuggle under blankets Not much of a toy player but does enjoy a good game of chase with Chester Enjoys walks Gets along with dogs (no cats) Likes sleeping in the big bed with humans (on top of or under a blanket...changes from night to night) but will sleep in his own bed Well house trained Has few teeth left so requires a soft diet Has mildly elevated liver enzymes, currently taking an inexpensive dietary supplement Loves sunny spots If you are interested in adopting Chester & Oscar Mayer, you can fill out an application right on our website! Story
Emmy Leigh is 1.5 years old and is a piebald white and fawn colored dachshund. She was surrendered when her owner could no longer care for her. She is definitely a people pup enjoying snuggle time, going on long walks. She does well meeting new people and dogs on her outings, She also loves to play and snuggle with her canine foster brothers and sisters. She is crate trained and working on house training. She’s a real gem! She would do best in home with another playful dog and with a human who has time at home to spend together sharing her love of life. If you are interested in adopting Emmy Leigh, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Emmy Leigh's adoption fee is $700. Legacy Dogs are highly adaptable dogs that can assist other dogs in our rescue with their vetting bills. Legacy dogs have a much higher desirability quotient. They're young, healthy and usually purebreds. These dogs leave a financial legacy for those animals who need extra help - whether they need extensive medical care or just a little more time to find a loving home. Story
I got beanie at 4 weeks old from someone off Craigslist. He did receive his first set of shots from the people I bought him from. And I took him to the shelter near me to get another round of shots. But currently he is not up to date on shots. Reason for rehoming is my other dog is a bit older. She gets along and plays with him. But she will get annoyed after a while and start to get a bit aggressive with him when he wont stop. He is very active and barks often. But he is also so loving and like to be pet and cuddled. He is not fully trained to potty outside. But he does know how to use the pads. He was born in May so he is not yet a year. Kid friendly and dog friendly. Just want to find him a good home and someone who will have more time for him. He has always been with another dog. So I do prefer someone who already has a dog for him to play with. Or can take him to a dog park to interact with other dogs. Good with baths. Any questions or interest please message me.

Abandoned by their owner to a friend who’s a dog boarder. Sweet sweet dog and cuddly but I have a baby and it’s too playfully aggressive for me to keep while trying to introduce him to my house. He comes with a crate, bed, leash, food, treats, a toy, and 2 shampoos (flea/tick and a deodorizer). Pls. He needs love and im so heartbroken that we aren’t the right family to give it him. Pls give it to him. Probably best in a calm adult home. He just wants to watch tv and hang out with you.
