Story
Hi, I’m Libby! I’m a short-stack pup that is good mix of energetic and chill. I love my walks—there’s nothing better than getting out and exploring. I also enjoy my food, squeaky toys, and naps (I have the cutest little snore, by the way!). I’m totally okay with getting attention, but I’m not the type to demand it all the time. I used to live in a house with another dog and loved the company. I’m curious and friendly, always up for a little sniff to say hello! As for being left alone, I don’t like it much. I prefer having company, but I’m also not a fan of car rides—they make me anxious. What makes me special? Well, I’ll be your shadow! I love to know what you’re up to and I’m never too far away. I like being petted, but only when I’m in the mood—on my terms, you know? I think I’d fit into almost any family, though I might not be the best fit for families with small children since I’m a bit more laid-back and sleepy. I’m a good girl who doesn’t need much training—just a little help with my anxiety, and I’ll be your loyal companion forever!

Story
Because of being used for just breeding, Diddle  hasn’t been socialized with different people and tends to cling onto one person at a time. It will take him a bit to truly warm up but he’s a Dachshund! We prefer a quiet adult home with no kids because he gets nervous with a lot of noise and changing faces. He might be fine after some time but initially he will need to go slowly. Age: 3 years WT:  18lbs. Temperament: Good with all dogs and adults   Vetting: neutered, up to date on vaccines, HW negative Training: crate trained, house trained, knows a few commands. For questions, please email loramyers51@yahoo.com     To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. We are 100% donation-funded and our fees are equivalent to (or less than) the cost to fully vet a new dog yourself. March 13, 2025, 9:18 am

Story
Meet Boone, a gorgeous and super silly long haired red male, who also happens to be an IVDD survivor. He arrived with a back injury and has gone through surgery. He's still primarily paralyzed but does have some tiny movement in his legs. But don't let that fool you into thinking he's slowed down at all. HECK NO!!! This boy is a professional when it comes to scooting or asking to be carried...and he's up for just about any adventure you care to take him on. He adores the car and wants to be with his people all the time. His bladder does need to be expressed, which is ridiculously easy and not messy at all. Just a little press on his abdomen & wheeee....you're done. Let us show you how. It makes him the most perfectly house-trained dog. WIN!!! Honestly whether he walks or scoots, he's the happiest little camper ever. Mr. Social !!! He has a real zest for life and brings joy to everyone he meets. Boone does enjoy his wheelie cart but b/c he's got such good foot placement when supported, we are encouraging him to keep strengthening his leg muscles to stand. If you know DREAM, you know we never give up. Because thru dreams, most anything is possible. Well almost anything....just not cats for Boone. He thinks they are toys and he will not stop chasing them. Unfortunately, he will annoy the heck out of the cats. DREAM has helped dogs of all capability levels and we believe this guy is really easy to care for. Resource material is available for you to order as well. One of the original board members wrote this extremely helpful book about day to day life with a "down dog".... Honey Have You Squeezed the Dachshund. If you are interested in adopting Boone, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Boone's adoption fee is $350. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Boone will go to his / her new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Almost every dog's veterinary expense is greater than our adoption fees. DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back. Follow us on Instagram , Facebook and Twitter

Story
Dutches My name is Dutches, and I am a cheerleader for the best qualities of the dachshund breed. I am loving. I am cute. I am fearless. I have the big eyes. I have the long ears. I have the cuddles. I have the guard dog bark. I am a six year old girl, black and tan, and very shiny!. I am friendly to everyone I meet. I love to sit and watch television. I love to play with toys. I love to wrestle with my Dachshund friends. I love to bark through the fence. I also have a couple of the qualities dachshunds are famous for that are maybe not the best. I have a couple of health issues that my new home will need to be aware of. I have had a problem with my back, and although I can walk again fine I am still working on getting better and better at walking straight and on my bladder and bowel control. My foster mom is taking me to physical therapy and doing exercise exercises with me that will help make me stronger in that way, and my new home will need to continue those. I had a severe bout of bladder stones, and now I eat a special food for the rest of my life to make sure I won’t need to have surgery on my bladder again. DREAM has helped dogs of all capability levels and we believe Dutches really easy to care for. Resource material is available for you to order as well. Story
Chester and Oscar Mayer are a pair of lovely mature fellas looking for a home together. Chester and Oscar are two of the youngest seniors their foster mom and dad have ever known. They were both surrendered when their owners could no longer care for them. They would enjoy staying with each other as they get along very well. They are both pretty chill and we feel would be fine with other dogs or together. They both respond well to recall and have not exhibited any signs of running behavior so a fence would be preferred but not required as a harness and leash walking would be fine. Chester: Loves to snuggle under blankets Plays with toys - Loves to play chase with Oscar Slightly overweight and is on a reduction plan Enjoys walks Gets along with small dogs, no cats or big dogs Likes sleeping in the big bed with humans (under blanket) but will sleep in his own bed Well house trained Does not like crying babies on the TV-well, who does really, 😆 Loves sunny spots Oscar: Loves to snuggle under blankets Not much of a toy player but does enjoy a good game of chase with Chester Enjoys walks Gets along with dogs (no cats) Likes sleeping in the big bed with humans (on top of or under a blanket...changes from night to night) but will sleep in his own bed Well house trained Has few teeth left so requires a soft diet Has mildly elevated liver enzymes, currently taking an inexpensive dietary supplement Loves sunny spots If you are interested in adopting Chester & Oscar Mayer, you can fill out an application right on our website!
