Story
Charming CHAMP is a middle-aged guy who likes mellow walks and quiet time with his human. He LOVES to snuggle and at 15 lbs he fits wonderfully in a lap. We estimate him to be a Dachshund / Terrier mix and about 7-9 years old. He would do best in a quiet household without children or other pets. Champ can be very protective of his people and home, so he would prefer to be your one and only - no other pets or children. Any interested applicants will need to come to the shelter to spend some time with him before adoption to understand his behaviors and how to best support him to have a happy home. The volunteers at ARF love him to bits and know he will be a wonderful buddy for the right person!

Story
Daisy and Donut are 2 yrs old. The perfect age as they are all grown out of the puppy stages. They are both housebroken and just the sweetest lovable dogs. They are current on all vaccinations and preventatives and have been spayed and neutered. Daisy is a little more high energy but not excessive. She is wonderful especially if she has a chewy bone or toy. Not destructive, she just likes something to chew on. Donut is lower energy but still loves to chase a ball and play with his sibling. They both know sit and will shake when asked as well. Leash and kennel trained and will sleep in their kennel 8-9 hours with no problems. They are great dogs and their family does not want to give them up but they have had a coupled unexpected deaths in the family and unforeseen circumstances that make it unfair for these two as far as time and space. Their current family would love for them to go together and the adoption fees can be adjusted accordingly if we can find a spot together for them both. We will consider single applications if we can’t find a home together. Once adopted Daisy and Donut will will travel via private transport (transport cost is $165.00) to a location closest to you. Story
This little pretty chocolate dappled girl is called Mazie and goodness what a cracker jack she is.  Don’t for minute let those green eyes and chocolate marbled coat fool you to think she is gentle or easy.  She is the CEO of dogs and will run the show at your house if given the chance.  Mazie is 30 pounds and 9 months old.  She is a breed mix of Dachshund and Basset Hound we are told.  Her pics make her look big but she is a “tiny but mighty” little girl.  Mazie is not a fan of any other female dogs in her life or around her.  We don’t know where that came from but the dislike is there so we say…don’t ignore the warning.  She is great with big male dogs, not good with other small dogs or cats, but loves people deeply and wants to be around them.  She needs a fenced yard because she is a runner as most Dachshunds can be and she needs to be able to run and play and get her energy out daily.  Older children would be better for her and she is crate trained, 90% housebroken and she adores going for walks; a very good girl on a leash we can say.  She is beautiful but a “tad” bit complicated, which is why we have outlined the Likes and Dislikes of this girl to a TEE!  We want the right and perfect home and there are lots out there that can give her that.  Tiny but Mighty little Mazie is ready for a home NOW!  Please email us at Critter Cavalry Rescue : ccrnewengland@gmail.com  Tell us where you live when you email asking for information and an application. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.August 19, 2024, 2:03 pm

Story
Daisy is a 15-year-old, quiet little girl with soulful eyes, who is bonded with Rufus. Both pups can take time to warmup, but once they know you, they are sweet and loving. Daisy is the more laidback of the two but can be led astray by her brother from time to time! They are hoping for a quiet home with experienced owners, and no young children. Environment They are crate trained and house trained too. The pair prefer doing their business and getting exercise in their own back yard, so a fenced yard will be needed. They don't necessarily need someone who works from home since they are fine in their crates.   Pets & People Daisy prefers the company of Rufus, and the pair would do fine as the only dogs in the home. However, they are accepting of other dogs as long as introductions are done slowly and approached with love and patience. Separation should continue at mealtimes as she isn’t shy about taking other dogs’ food. With new people it’s a similar story—she needs time and patience. Once she accepts you, she just wants to be petted and loved. Health Daisy is deaf and has a heart murmur for which she is receiving palliative care. Rufus is important to her as her bonded partner and as her "emotional support animal". The cardiologist recommended a diet free of legumes (currently eats Royal Canin Mature Adult). Luckily, she takes her medicine very easily, but should be sedated for vet care or stressful situations.  Location Daisy and Rufus are available for adoption from Wheaton, MD. They are a little whiny in the car but will quiet down eventually.  Please email doxelovr@gmail.com with any questions or complete an adoption application at the link above. The adoption fee for Daisy has been waived due to her health and comfort care requirements.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 19, 2024, 8:00 pm
