Story
The owner of Arlo, Lainey and 4 other akc registered doxies was living in a rental home with 4 children and the landlord said the dogs had to go. Her mom took them while she was supposed to find another place to live but that did not happen. Her mom had 3 dogs of her own and was overwhelmed so she asked for help. All the dogs are sweet but we took Arlo and Lainey. These two are quite bonded so we are going to try to place them together. They are both spay/neutered, UTD on vaccines and HW negative, They will also be microchipped. In their original home, they were left on a self feeder and I am afraid Arlo overindulged but Lainey was able to keep her figure. They are both so so sweet and cute! They both Love cuddles and kisses! They both seem to be reliably housetrained. Arlo is a red pie bald and Lainey is a black and tan wirehaired doxie. Lainey was born on 9/10/2021 so she is 3 years old, Arlo is 4. If you would like to add these fun little babies to your family, please email omlc7@hotmail.com or dogs4mylife@gmail.com and we will send our info and app. If you do not see a reply, please check your spam.

Good with dogs,
Story
Spam’s estimated birthday is May 9, 2019, making him 6 this year. Raised during COVID, he isn’t used to socialization and may bark at new dogs or people but calms down with patience and gentle introductions. He’s friendly with other dogs but may bark through fences or gates. He also barks at squirrels and people passing by but quiets down when close and asks for pets. He’s very affectionate and clingy—if you work from home, he’ll often want to sit on your lap! He’s house-trained, uses the backyard, and doesn’t have accidents indoors. As a dachshund, avoid letting him use stairs too often as it’s bad for his back. Spam deserves a home where he’ll feel safe and loved. He’s a loyal, loving companion and thrives on attention.

Story
We are rehoming Silas due to us moving within the next few months and we won’t be able to take him with us. Silas is 4 year old long haired dachshund who is a cuddle bug and likes to voice his opinion. He enjoys sunbathing and spending time outside (cold or warm weather) especially if there are sticks around. Silas is very loyal to his people and will show his love with kisses and snuggles. He does well with other dogs, but has a more dominant personality. Likely will do better with kids that are elementary school age or older. It’s preferred that someone who owns or has owned a dachshund in the past adopts Silas as they understand their demeanor. Asking for a rehoming fee to ensure he goes to a home that is invested in him and due to his shots being updated November 2024.

Story
Approximate Age: 1 year old Approximate Weight: 12.5 lbs Meet Star! - Settled in nicely at her foster home. - Sweet girl. - Gets along with the other dogs. - Crates well. She gets in the crate a little reluctantly but is fine once she's in it. - Has displayed house manners so far. - She prefers not to potty while on a leash but does well when allowed off-leash in a securely fenced yard. - Will accept affection but doesn't seek it out. *********************************************************************** Visit our website for an application to adopt. https://www.olddominionhumanesociety.org/adoption-survey What breed am I? Mixed mutt! ODHS does not breed label (unless there's official paperwork), as studies show it is nearly impossible to tell the exact breed of each dog based off of their appearance. Educational article: 3/3/3 rule: https://www.rescuedogs101.com/bringing-new-dog-home-3-3-3-rule/?fbclid=IwAR2iv5m7fqk3FieO7LOsstGeGsYYV_F1rJOd1BPxaImofLpcinpYsUbFRWs Adoption Donations are $275 for an adult, $375 for puppies (a dog under one year of age), and $175 for a senior dog (based on the age of the dog). More "sought out breeds may have a higher adoption donation) Adoption donations are to be made via cash, or credit/debit card. There is a $5 fee to run cards. We do not accept checks for adoption fees. Please remember to bring a martingale collar and leash (non-retractable) with you the day of the adoption. We typically have adoption events on Wednesdays 5-7pm, Fridays 6-8pm, and 11 to 3pm. Our adoption center is located at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Suite 101, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. It's important that you keep an eye on your emails for any changes or updates during the adoption process. Old Dominion Humane Society is a volunteer based organization.
