Meet Teva, our two-year-old Dachshund lady!
This showstopper is crate and potty-trained and looking for her forever family. She has done great with the kids and dogs in her foster home. Teva was used as a breeder in a puppy mill for the first two years of her life, but despite this, she is an all-around well-adjusted and happy girl. She's medium energy, confident, curious, sweet, and independent, with a little mischievousness thrown in for good measure.
Her foster calls Teva the neighborhood gossip. She loves to watch the comings and goings in the neighborhood from the yard and windows. True to her Dachshund breed, she patrols the yard searching for bugs, skinks, and small animals. In fact, her favorite things to do are to hang out in the yard, sniffing everything... and lying on the porch with her dog friends. Inside the house, she never passes up an opportunity for snuggles under the blankets or movie-time snacks. Her fur is the softest in the land, and we could pet her for hours. She barks on occasion but is not nearly as vocal as most Dachshunds. Teva looks like a deer and is simply adorable.

GDU does ask a minimum adoption fee of $400.00. This does not even come close to covering all expenses created by animals while in rescue. We are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum fee includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying, if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well.
