Story
Oswald is a 2-year-old bundle of energy with a big personality and an even bigger heart. This adorable little guy is as cute as he is funny, and he’s always ready to run, play, and bring smiles to everyone he meets. Oswald has a playful spirit and would be the perfect family dog for an active household. Whether it's running around the yard, playing fetch, or just having a good time with his humans, Oswald is always up for some fun! Oswald’s energy is unmatched, and he would thrive in a home with a fenced-in yard where he can burn off all that extra energy. He is also used to being the dominant one over his current kennel mate, so he may do best with a more submissive dog who can keep up with his playful antics. Though Oswald’s start in life wasn’t the best, he has come a long way. He came from a home where he wasn’t provided with the necessary veterinary care. He had cherry eye, retained baby teeth, and was neither vaccinated nor neutered. Thankfully, we’ve taken care of all his medical needs, and Oswald is now happy, healthy, and ready for his forever home. Oswald absolutely loves people and gets along well with other dogs. He is a social, affectionate boy who will quickly become a beloved member of any family. He’s full of love and excitement, and he’s waiting for the right family to give him the life he deserves. If you’re looking for an energetic, playful, and loving companion who will keep you on your toes, Oswald might be your perfect match!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sydney came with her brother Benny, and we'd like to keep them together.  They would up at a rural shelter together.  Clearly someone "loved" Sydney with food!  She's already lost a little weight and is currently 56 pounds, which is something near double what she should weigh. Her foster mom is working on her weight, and she is having a Cushing's test done at the vet soon.  She is healthy otherwise.  She likes to hang out in the AC and roll around in the grass.   An adopter for Sydney will need to be willing to work on her weight loss journey and treat any additional conditions she is diagnosed with.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 13, 2024, 4:16 pm

LUCKY IS IN HIS FOSTER HOME IN MEMPHIS, TN AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED TO VA ONCE HE IS ADOPTED!    Lucky is his name, and he has EARNED it. This parvo survivor is a 5-6 month old mixed breed puppy. His mom was a dachshund, and his dad is a complete guess. He is only 20 lbs, and we don't expect him to get much bigger. He loves other dogs and children, but Lucky is afraid of cats. He is working on house breaking with a few accidents here and there, but he is currently training being taken out often and especially after eating. He will pick it up soon! He loves balls and toys. His favorite thing to do is get up in your lap and cuddle when he is tired.   Lucky is fully vetted including neuter, microchip, puppy shots as well as rabies shot. His adoption fee of $550 includes the transport to VA. We use a licensed and registered USDA transport company that will bring Lucky up north after he is adopted.  To apply to adopt Lucky, go here:  http://www.newbeginningsanimalrescue.net .    Any Questions, email us at newbeginnings_animalrescue@yahoo.com .  THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING ADOPTING A RESCUED PET!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 1:30 pm

Story
I’m Zoey, a sweet and snuggly 10-month-old Basset mix who is looking for my forever family. I came to BROOD after my previous family adopted me from an animal shelter and soon realized I had too much energy for them. I am full of curiosity and love learning new things. I am friendly and energetic and quite agile for a small hound--I weigh only 38 pounds. I would do well in a home with someone that likes to walk and who will play with me. I am crate trained and keep my kennel dry overnight, too.It doesn’t take me long to bond with my people—I love being close to my family, and I thrive on attention. That’s why I need to be the only dog in the home--I want all the cuddles and affection for myself! I also don’t get along with cats and will happily chase them around, so a cat-free home is best for me. I love playing with toys and can often entertain myself with play. While I may still be discovering my personality, one thing is for sure: I’m great with kids and love spending time with them. Due to my energy level and tendency to jump up, I would be best in a home with older children. Whether we are playing or cuddling, I am always ready for fun.BROOD is short of foster homes right now and I am still in boarding at BROOD’s veterinarian. I would love a foster home or how about a foster-to-adopt home? Contact BROOD at foster@brood-va.org if you want to foster me!If you’re ready to add some extra love and companionship to your life, I would love to meet you! Contact BROOD today to start our journey together. My adoption fee is $100.00.**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Our adoption application is on the BROOD website at https://brood-va.org/adoptionapp/. We adopt to residents of Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, DC, Delaware, and southern Pennsylvania. Do not apply to adopt from BROOD if you live in another state. We require a virtual home visit and a veterinary reference. The age of BROOD dogs is an estimate, as very few come with exact age records. 12/23/2024

Story
My name Indy for short. I have an adventurous streak and love exploring the world! I’m a 5-year-old Basset mix found as a stray. When I first came to BROOD, I had a heartworm infection, but after treatment, I’m now healthy, happy, and ready for an active life! Now that I’m feeling great, I absolutely love going on walks! I do get a bit excited and tend to pull, but I’m working on my leash manners every day. I’m working on my house training so I’ll need a patient family to help me fully master this skill.True to my hound roots, I’m quite vocal and enjoy sharing my thoughts—whether it’s about my day, spotting a deer, or letting you know it’s mealtime. A home with a fenced yard would be ideal for me, as I love roaming, sniffing, and soaking up the outdoors. I would not do well in an apartment or condo. I’m a people-lover and make friends with everyone I meet, including kids who stop for a quick pet on my walks. I get along with other dogs but would be ok by myself. I enjoy playing with toys, especially a Kong stuffed with snacks, and I’m always up for learning new tricks if there are treats involved. I already know commands like “sit,” “down,” and “kennel.”If you’re looking for a loyal, adventurous, and sweet companion, I’m your guy! Contact BROOD today to start our adventures together. My adoption fee is $250.00.**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Our adoption application is on the BROOD website at https://brood-va.org/adoptionapp/. Story
Fuego may have a fiery name, but he’s as sweet and gentle as they come! This spunky 7-year-old Beagle-Basset mix was found as a stray, but he’s ready to settle into a loving home. His small size makes him a great fit for any living situation, including apartments and condos.Quiet as can be—except when he’s snoring (and trust us, his snores can rival any human’s!)—Fuego is house-trained, crate-trained, and so well-behaved that he can have free roam of the house. He loves spending time in the yard, nose to the ground, tracking scents like a true Beagle. He’s great with other dogs, adores snuggling with his family, and is always ready for snacks! The only thing he’s not a fan of? Car rides—so be prepared for a little drool cleanup if you take him on an adventure. If you’re looking for a sweet, easygoing companion who will fill your home with love (and maybe some snores), Fuego is your guy! Contact BROOD today to meet him! His adoption fee is $150.00.**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions).
