Story
This sweet Dachshund mix girl is called Cece and what a precious girl she has been in someone’s life for the past 5 years.  Unfortunately her mom just passed away and Cece is heartbroken and not without a home to live in.  Some kind friend of the family took her in and has asked Critter Cavalry Rescue for help to find her the most perfect home to welcome her in to their life.  Cece is perfection in so many ways.   At 5 years of age she is 20 pounds and a trim little girl that loves to go for walks and explore the beautiful outdoor yard that she once lived in.  She is house broken , but her previous owner, who passed away, had a doggy door going in and out and so her current foster does ask her often if she needs to go outside to potty.  Cece is great living with other dogs and she currently lives with 2 younger male dogs and is like a mother figure to them. She does insist on privacy when eating so she is fed by herself.  Her previous owner had a cat that she lived harmoniously with.  She is not kennel trained but we are working on it, and she loves to sleep with you in bed at night.  This little princess is such a cuddler, and she loves to play with toys and she loves to show you the toys whenever you get home from work (she is so very proud). She naps a lot , but does get up and play whenever she feels like it. She is looking for a forever home to claim for the next 10 possible years of her life.  Dachshunds  have a long life line and we see how very healthy and beautiful that Cece is and we know she has so much more time to love someone and bring great years of happiness.  If you are interested please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com  Tell us where you live when inquiring:  city and state.  She can transport northward from Tennessee at any future weekend. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.March 20, 2025, 7:16 am

IF YOU ARE VIEWING THIS LISTING ON PETFINDER OR ADOPT-A-PET, please visit: vCaninesandkittiesrescue.org to access adoption requirements, more information and pictures Meet Louie -- Louie is about 4 months old and 22 lbs. We think Louie looks like a Doxie Mix (Just a Guess). Louie is playful, loving and smart. Louie loves to run and play in the backyard. He is excellent at chasing tennis balls. Louie will require another young and playful dog in his forever home. He is most comfortable when another dog in around. Louie is not fostered with children, but we feel he would be fine with children who are 5 years and up. Louis is a young pup who is used to having his foster mom at home during the day and will need an adopter who is also at home a good portion of the day to continue training and set him up for success - no exceptions! Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. This puppy has received vet care from a veterinarian, is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines and microchipped. This puppy will need to be neutered at 6 months of age. The Adoption Fee for this puppy is $400.00. The adoption fee for this dog is $400, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee DOES NOT INCLUDE spay/neuter if the pup is not already spayed/neutered. If the animal you are adopting is not already spayed/neutered, you will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. A $100.00 fee will be returned to the adopter once the animal has been sterilized. We will provide information on this process during the approval process. ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs and/or all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So, adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many! ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

Story
Dr. Frank-N-Furter came to our home in 2014. We rescued him from a large hoarding situation. He has been a treasured part of our family for the last 11 years. Furter (as he is affectionately known) is around 14 years old (we guessed his age and gave him the birthday of October 31). He is great with children and other dogs of all ages. The ideal home for Furter would be one that has: multiple dogs (3-4...he loves being part of a pack), affectionate children, very few stairs, access to a yard, and a primary owner who is able to be home with him. For 14, Furter still has a lot of energy and needs an attentive owner who can also handle his medical needs (special diet, urniary tract issues/incontinence, and skin allergies). This was a difficult decision for our family, and we want Furter to go to a good home.

Story
Meet Amelia. This sweet girl was surrendered to a rural county shelter along with two other pregnant dogs from the same home. Stories like this break our hearts—three expectant moms under one roof, likely the result of unaltered male and female dogs living together. When the shelter reached out for help, Worthy Dog Rescue stepped in. We took in Amelia, and one of our partner rescues welcomed her puppies, ensuring this little family gets the bright future they deserve. Thankfully, Amelia was able to deliver her puppies in the safety and comfort of a foster home, where she proved to be an attentive, loving mom. It was immediately clear that she adores people—she’s affectionate, cuddly, and always eager for human companionship. She also has excellent doggy social skills, getting along with every pup she meets. Currently, she’s in a foster home with a larger dog and three cats. Her foster mom describes her as a very friendly pup who adjusts well to new situations—"A couple of sniffs, and she’s good to go!" She enjoys playdates with a neighbor’s dog and loves romping around with her foster sibling. Amelia is still a young pup, with all the energy and enthusiasm of adolescence. She’s always up for an adventure—whether it’s a walk (which she loves!), a road trip, backyard zoomies, or a car ride. She’s social, confident, and the perfect sidekick for an active household. But when the day winds down, she’s also a champion cuddler, happiest curled up on the couch with her favorite human. She sleeps soundly through the night, nestled in a cozy ball on her foster parent’s bed. House manners? Amelia has them! She’s fully house-trained and has never had an accident in her foster home. She tolerates the crate for treats (even if it’s not her favorite), and her leash skills are decent—she may pull a little when excited to meet a new dog, but only out of friendly enthusiasm. Her foster parents crate her when they leave her home alone to avoid her getting into mischief. Her foster mom describes her as medium energy—she’s playful and active but also respectful of the older dog in the home, knowing when to settle down and entertain herself with a toy or nap.  We think that Amelia would thrive in an active home with another playful pup and maybe some kids to romp around with. She’s a fantastic family dog just waiting for the perfect match. Apply today! Story
Meet Winston. This handsome Dachshund was surrendered to our rescue after a brief stay with a temporary family. A well-meaning teen brought him home without his parents’ approval, and while Winston got along well with the other animals in the house, they weren’t looking to add another dog. Fortunately, rather than giving him away online, they reached out to us to ensure he found a proper home. Now, Winston is searching for his forever family—one where he’ll be truly wanted and loved. We’ve had the chance to see Winston thrive in different foster settings—both as an only dog and with canine companions. When he was the only dog, he was a bit more timid at first and needed some time to build trust, which is completely understandable. His foster mom gave him space to decompress before handling or picking him up, and that approach worked beautifully. After just a few days, Winston’s affectionate and loving nature began to shine. Currently, Winston is being fostered with another dog, and he made friends almost instantly. Within minutes, the two were running and playing together in the backyard, and having a canine buddy has noticeably boosted his confidence. He relaxed and trusted more quickly, showing us that he truly enjoys the company of another dog. Winston is housetrained and lets his foster parents know when he needs to go out—what a good boy! During the day, he has been crated when left home alone He barks for a few minutes but quickly settles down. He even takes his toys into the crate on his own, showing he’s comfortable with the crate now. At night, he sleeps soundly in bed with his foster parents. Wintson is a very connected and affectionate pup once he settles one. He loves to be with his people—whether curled up on a lap, snuggled at the foot of the bed, or following his foster parents around the house. While he’s been thriving in a calm environment, we believe he could adapt to a more active home and will make a great family dog. As a young pup with medium energy, Winston enjoys daily walks and playtime but is also content relaxing indoors. He’s still learning leash manners and can be a bit eager, but daily walks are helping him improve. As he’s gained confidence, he’s become more comfortable meeting new people. When a rescue friend recently visited to take his stunning photos, Winston greeted her warmly and was the perfect model! Could Winston be the perfect addition to your family? He will be coming to town on 3/22. Apply today to learn more about him! ***Preference will be given to owners with Dachshund experience*** BREED ESTIMATE: Long-haired Dachshund GENDER: Male APPROXIMATE WEIGHT:  15 lbs  APPROXIMATE AGE: ~ 1 year old COAT TYPE:  long coat - requires regular grooming ADOPTION FEE: $425 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/neutered/microchipped LOCATION: Fort Mill, SC - Coming to DC metro on 3/22   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application.
