Story
https://foha.org/pet/zamboni2025/ Hi, I’m Zamboni! I may be a dachshund-lab mix, but let’s be real—I’m 100% adorable. From the moment I arrived at FOHA, I went straight into a foster home, and so far, I’ve been 99.9% AMAZING! I love people, I’ve met kids and done great, I’m good with cats, and I get along with dogs of all sizes. I sleep through the night like a champ and am mostly housebroken (just one little oopsie so far). But here comes the “but”… I’m a dachshund mix, and true to my breed, I have a lot to say. Dachshunds were bred to be alert and vocal hunters, so I like to let my people know when something exciting (or, you know, just everyday life) is happening. My foster is working with me on my barking, but because of it, I probably wouldn’t be the best fit for an apartment. I’ll need continued training and socialization to fine-tune my greetings with new people and my watchdog tendencies at home. I’m also still young, which means I have plenty of energy to burn! Don’t get me wrong—I love a good cuddle nap on the couch, but I’m not quite ready for a life of snoozing all day. I need daily walks to keep me happy, and I’d love to go on adventures when time allows. Whether it’s exploring a trail, playing in the yard, or just getting out and about, I’m always up for some fun! On paper, I sound like the perfect pup—and I totally am! But I’ll need a family that’s ready to put in the work to make me 100% awesome. If you’re looking for a cute, loving, and spunky little guy with a dash of sass, I might just be your perfect match! Let’s meet and see if we’re meant to be!

Story
Dr. Frank-N-Furter came to our home in 2014. We rescued him from a large hoarding situation. He has been a treasured part of our family for the last 11 years. Furter (as he is affectionately known) is around 14 years old (we guessed his age and gave him the birthday of October 31). He is great with children and other dogs of all ages. The ideal home for Furter would be one that has: multiple dogs (3-4...he loves being part of a pack), affectionate children, very few stairs, access to a yard, and a primary owner who is able to be home with him. For 14, Furter still has a lot of energy and needs an attentive owner who can also handle his medical needs (special diet, urniary tract issues/incontinence, and skin allergies). This was a difficult decision for our family, and we want Furter to go to a good home.

Story
Meet Amelia. This sweet girl was surrendered to a rural county shelter along with two other pregnant dogs from the same home. Stories like this break our hearts—three expectant moms under one roof, likely the result of unaltered male and female dogs living together. When the shelter reached out for help, Worthy Dog Rescue stepped in. We took in Amelia, and one of our partner rescues welcomed her puppies, ensuring this little family gets the bright future they deserve. Thankfully, Amelia was able to deliver her puppies in the safety and comfort of a foster home, where she proved to be an attentive, loving mom. It was immediately clear that she adores people—she’s affectionate, cuddly, and always eager for human companionship. She also has excellent doggy social skills, getting along with every pup she meets. Currently, she’s in a foster home with a larger dog and three cats. Her foster mom describes her as a very friendly pup who adjusts well to new situations—"A couple of sniffs, and she’s good to go!" She enjoys playdates with a neighbor’s dog and loves romping around with her foster sibling. Amelia is still young, with all the energy and enthusiasm of adolescence. She’s always up for an adventure—whether it’s a walk (which she loves!), a road trip, backyard zoomies, or a car ride. She’s social, confident, and the perfect sidekick for an active household. But when the day winds down, she’s also a champion cuddler, happiest curled up on the couch with her favorite human. She sleeps soundly through the night, nestled in a cozy ball on her foster parent’s bed. House manners? Amelia has them! She’s fully house-trained and has never had an accident in her foster home. She tolerates the crate for treats (even if it’s not her favorite), and her leash skills are decent—she may pull a little when excited to meet a new dog, but only out of friendly enthusiasm. Her foster mom describes her as medium-high energy—she’s playful and active but also respectful of the older dog in the home, knowing when to settle down and entertain herself with a toy or nap. We think that Amelia would thrive in an active home with another playful pup and maybe some kids to romp around with. She’s a fantastic family dog just waiting for the perfect match. Apply today! The sweetest dog we've ever met. So gentle and loves to cuddle. Favorite things: belly rubs, scratches and walks. She loves to play with her stuffed animals and loves chase with our teens. She doesn't nip and is potty trained. She hasn't touched our belongings but likes to explore the house. She probably would do best as the only dog in the family or with a young or smaller dog. Come meet her! Story
If you are interested in adopting this dog, please email the adoption counselor:  lisastern.tr@gmail.com  and request an adoption application.  Dog's Name:  Short Stack Estimated Breed :  Dachshound/Spaniel Approximate Age:  9-10 years Approximate Weight:  15 lbs. Currently Living at:  Foster Adoption Fee:  $300   DOG'S DESCRIPTION:   Looking for a furry companion who will bring joy, loyalty, and endless love into your home? Short Stack  is the one for you! This sweet and cuddly little man  is ready to find his forever family. Here’s a little about him:  Personality: Sweet and extremely friendly, Short Stack LOVES to sleep in the big bed with his humans. He is definitely a huge snuggler, so if you are looking for a cuddle buddy, he's your happy-go-lucky lover boy.  Training & Behavior: Short Stack is fine in his crate, but does need some focused attention on house training. He is friendly with other smaller dogs; however, does get a bit intimidated and growly around big dogs. Short Stack is fine with cats, and probably would be fine with children who know how to treat a little senior dog.  Health & Wellness: Don't let his age fool you, this little guy still has some spunk! In general, he is lower energy, but still enjoys getting out for walks and outdoor time.  Perfect Home:  This sweet guy is just looking for attention and LOVE! If you can provide that, and some housetraining, than your household will work for Short Stack. Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (for dogs over 6 months old), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, Hatton Animal Rescue spends significantly more on each dog than the adoption fee. Story
Roxy is a funny little dog who is a lot of fun to have around. She is low maintenance, she loves going for long walks, and is always up for them (rain or shine). She loves walking around a fenced yard and really entertains herself just by exploring. She is super athletic she jumps on top of a 4 foot gate & walks on the top of it (on a skinny little metal pole) , so a fenced yard has to be pretty tall for her. It looks like she is a gymnast on a very skinny balance beam! She might be a great agility dog but unlike many dogs like that, she is not demanding. We joke because of her tough looks that she the is really a guardian angel disguised as small four-legged bouncer. She does not chew on things she shouldn't and goes outside of her run so we believe she is likely housetrained. If you are interested in Roxy please let us know. Thank you for your interest in Roxy! Please visit www.hart90.org/petdetail.aspx?ID=17424 to get the most up-to-date and accurate information on this pet, to email the contact person listed for more information and how to meet Roxy, or to submit an online application. HART adopts to the local DC/VA/MD metro area only. Visit our website for more information about our adoption process.
