Story

Rocky is a sweet, playful pup who loves fetch and cuddles. He had a rough start in life due to his birth defect that left his hind legs paralyzed. Despite his difficulties, he definitely knows how to enjoy life to the fullest! He doesn’t know he is any different than his foster brothers and makes friends with everyone he meets. He loves kids, cats and dogs and never meets a stranger. His hobbies include running outside in his wheelchair and playing inside in his scooter. His care usually consists of snapping him into his mobility devices and letting him go. He wears belly bands inside since his bladder control is slightly limited due to the paralysis. Luckily, aside from this he is house trained and tells you when he needs to go potty. His temperament is very calm for a puppy, though he will experience the zoomies on occasion and burn some rubber in the yard! If you feel your home might be the right place for this wonderful dog, the place to start is with the adoption application found at www.dfwrescueme.org/adopt. Once submitted, the foster will contact you to tell you more, and to arrange a meeting! The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $250.00, which includes their vaccinations and spay/neuter. Duchess was in a small, high kill shelter when we came across her information. Her eyes were so infected she couldn’t open them and the shelter had posted her as being blind. Our vet discovered that Duchess doesn’t produce tears and the chronic dry eye had been untreated so long her corneas were damaged and infected. This sweet girl was so shut down initially she had to remember what a special dog she is. We are trying our best to save her eyes, she gets 2 types of medicated drops twice a day and artificial tears as often as possible. She’s learned to let her foster clean her eyes and is good about getting her drops. She’s able to see now although not as well as we hope she can as we progress. She will need eye drops ongoing. Duchess now plays with the other dogs in her foster home and enjoys running around her yard. Her very favorite thing is getting attention and spending time with her humans. She just wants to totally devote herself to her human and take care of her family. This girl is a wonderful Doberman and an ambassador for the breed.She is house trained, can use a doggie door or ask to go outside if she doesn't have one. She is fine being left home alone or with her canine friends but would rather go wherever her human is going. She’s great going for rides and would be the perfect travel companion. Duchess is fully vetted - current with vaccines, spayed, on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, and is microchipped.

Mandy is a shelter dog and is 2 years old. I've had her for about a year and she is a great around people. She is house trained, she'll let you know when she needs to go out. She could still use some training in terms of jumping up on people and being alone. With other dogs, she needs to be slowly introduced, otherwise she's gets nervous and scared. What I'm looking for in a new home is someone who can do standard stuff like play with her take her on walks and be with her as I am not capable anymore. She loves people so that would really help her adapt faster to a new home

Roscoe is quite the hunk of love and half &#34derp&#34 (that&#39s a term of endearment) ~Super sweet, kinda shy, loves dogs of all sizes ~House and crate trained ~11 year old min-pin mix ~Has epilepsy, but he&#39s well maintained on phenobarbital twice a day and that is working great. We&#39ve worked with our vets to ensure he&#39s getting the best care and treatment. The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $250.00 and that includes their vaccinations, spay or neuter, rabies and microchip. Our dogs are also heartworm negative (or we will cover their treatment). Otis is a 4-5 year old, energetic, Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. He is very sweet, and loves his booty rubs. He’s been through 3 homes, and needs to find his forever one! He needs a big back yard, someone who will take him on all the walks, and all the patience you have to offer. He is good about going outside, he’s good with other animals, but he likes to get into whatever mischief he can. As long as he has plenty of chew toys, he’s good to go! I recently got a new and more time demanding job and just don’t have the time anymore, unfortunately.
