Dennis is available through our `Adopt From a Foster Home` program. Please email adopt@calgaryhumane.ca if you are interested in scheduling a meeting. Please do not make an appointment through our online booking calendar, as Dennis is not available to meet on site.**Dennis is a Patient Paw, who has been available for adoption since March 22, 2024. Please ask about their reduced adoption fee and the possibility of a sleepover!**Age: 13 months oldWeight: 28.5 kg / 62.8 lbsA bit about me:- unknown history with dogs; okay pending successful intro- unknown history with cats; slow, supervised intros recommended- Adults and Teens okay. Not recommended for a home with small children. Are you ready for this much energy?? Dennis has the biggest heart, and a sweet manner that is constantly interrupted by his antics. He is still working on greeting new people politely, but is working hard to learn the best ways to say hi! Dennis can easily become frustrated when he is asked to perform a difficult skill, or his body language is not respected, so we are looking for a home with adults and teens only that can provide Dennis with plenty of mental and physical enrichment, as well as patient, consistent training that can set him up for success. Dennis does well with a doggy playmate who can keep up with his energy, and plenty of space to roam and explore - he`s not a fan of crates or confinement but would do well with a large yard or access to a rural property. In a consistent, structured home, you`ll see Dennis` sweet, snuggly, couch buddy side and be rewarded with an amazing pup who will someday make a great adventure buddy and couch snuggler! Welcome Dennis home today!

Please do not make an appointment through our online booking calendar, as Mr. Worldwide is not available to meet on site.**Mr. Worldwide is a Patient Paw, who has been available for adoption since May 3, 2024. Please ask about their reduced adoption fee and the possibility of a sleepover!**Mr. Worldwide has completed one of our training courses and is now a certified Smarty Pup! To support his new family going forward, Mr. Worldwide will also receive 3 complimentary consults with our behavior team following adoption along with three bags of food courtesy of Homes Alive Pets!Age: 2 yearsWeight: 32.5kg / 71.7lbsA bit about Mr. Worldwide:- Unknown history with cats. All introductions should be slow and supervised.- Only dog in home due to poor dog-dog social skills; potential for dog friends in future- Unknown history with children. All introductions should be slow and supervised.- May do well as a rural placement, but not required. Our goofy pittie mix Mr. Worldwide was found as a stray outside Calgary city limits back in April. Since then, this silly dude has spent almost 6 months in our care! Mr. Worldwide is an active, high energy boy who loves to hike, explore and even roller skate (well, he runs -you skate)! Although he may not look it, his love of the outdoors also means he’d make a great farm or acreage dog. He’d love to go on an all day adventure with you, or just chill and smell the breeze while you work outside. Our boy has really struggled with kennel stress at CHS, but with the hard work and support of our animal care and behaviour teams, we’ve learned that a combination of fun walks and outdoor adventures, as well as a variety of puzzle feeders and other mental enrichment toys helps him get the wiggles out. After so long in shelter, Mr. W will need some time to relax, adjust to his new digs and learn about life at your place. Consistent routines, and shorter absences will help the transition go smoothly. He also comes with 3 complimentary private consults to help you set off on the right paw together.Shelter staff and volunteers say this boy is, “one of my favourites to visit”, “greets you sweetly at the door”, and “loves belly scratches”. If you’re looking for a snuggle bug who can keep up on all your adventures, then look

Bella Bo Ella is available through our `Adopt From a Foster Home` program. Please email adopt@calgaryhumane.ca if you are interested in scheduling a meeting. Please do not make an appointment through our online booking calendar, as Bella Bo Ella is not available to meet on site.**Bella Bo-Ella is a Patient Paw, who has been available for adoption since September 3, 2024. Please ask about their reduced adoption fee and the possibility of a sleepover!**A little bit about Bella Bo-Ella :- Kids okay; has previously lived with children. All interactions must be supervised by an adult.- No cats in home due to high prey drive and history of chasing cats- Dogs okay pending successful introductionsSweet and spirited Bella Bo Ella first came into our care back in September, at only 6 months old, after the older dog in her home struggled to accept Bella`s high energy attempts at play. Bella hasn`t slowed down since then, so an active home with the ability to offer a variety of physical and mental enrichment would be a perfect fit for this `energizer-doggo`! Bella adores canine playtime, and is mostly good at sharing, but she is still learning about the polite way to respond if another pup says `no` to playtime. Luckily, in Bella`s foster home, she has a best friend her age to get the wiggles out with, and a senior dog who is helping her learn more about polite dog interactions. Bella can easily grow over-excited during playtime, so she is looking for a home that is comfortable monitoring playtime, and using positive reinforcement techniques to help Bella take a break when needed. Bella thinks cats are intended for epic games of chase; due to this prey drive she is seeking a home with no cats or other small, free roaming animals. Bella is an absolute cuddle bug who loves her people and will bask in all the attention she can get! She loves to be right next to her humans at all times, and would be more than content to lay on the couch with a movie going or walking around the neighbourhood happily taking treats for her good behaviour. If you have an active and affectionate household who can keep up with Bella`s zest for life, come meet this sweet lady today!

Story
Age: 4 years oldWeight: 38kg / 83.8lbA little bit about Stevie :- Limited history with children; children should be teens and up- Unknown history with cats and other small animals; all introductions should be done slowly over a period of time- Some history of living with dog; selectively dog reactive. Potential for dog in home pending successful Dog-to-Dog introductionsStevie is a friendly, cuddly, and house-trained sweetheart who loves her walks just as much as she enjoys relaxing on the couch afterward. Her foster family tells us she did well with the adults and children she met in foster care and may thrive in a home with older children. While Stevie has successfully lived with another dog before, she has a history of being selectively dog reactive and may do best as the only dog in her new home. On walks, she is appropriate when passing other dogs but prefers not to make canine friends. Stevie has shown some prey drive on walks, so patience and care would be needed if introducing her to a home with cats or small animals.Currently, Stevie is carrying some extra weight. In order for her to live a long, healthy, and happy life, adopters should work on a gradual weight loss plan with their vet. This wonderful former mama has charmed everyone she’s met, and we’re confident she’ll win your heart too!

Delia will receive a free session of Reactive Rover with adoption!**Delia is a Patient Paw, please ask about their reduced adoption fee and the possibility of a sleepover!**Age: 2 yearsWeight: 23.5 kg / 51.8 lbsA little bit about Delia: - children okay, older recommended due to lack of manners - cats / small animals unknown; introductions should be slow and supervised over multiple sessions - only dog in home, due to demonstrated dog reactivityWagging her way into your heart and hopefully home, say hello to Delia! She`s a friendly and outgoing dog who loves to meet everyone but still jumps up to say hello. That`s why the ideal family for her would be without little kids and have an abundance of patience to help teach her proper doggy manners. Delia is also a pretty energetic gal and would love going on lots of adventures, hikes, you name it! Just remember that mental enrichment is just as important as physical enrichment, so make sure to offer lots of interactive toys and puzzle feeders, too! This slightly mischievous, toy-loving girl, will be happy to help you sniff out any toys or treats you may have lost in your home. Delia is more of a people pooch and is looking for a home without dogs, but she has potential to co-exist with cats if there are slow, supervised introductions. That`s all for Delia, but if you want to learn more, then make an appointment or come say hello today!

I AM ON A PATIENT PAW SLEEPOVER WITH MY POTENTIAL ADOPTER**Veronika is a Patient Paw, who has been available for adoption since October 9, 2024. Please ask about their reduced adoption fee and the possibility of a sleepover!**Age: 1 yearWeight: 35 kgA bit about me:- unknown history with children; all interactions should be supervised- unknown history with cats; multiple, slow, supervised intros recommended- unknown history with dogs; okay pending successful introduction- can be nervous and slow to warm up to new peopleSweet Veronika is here to say hi! Found as a stray along the highway, this lady was terrified on arrival and wedged herself under the dog bed in her kennel. Our staff knew there was a sweetie under the fear and with gentle voices and treats, we set out to help her feel safe. With patience, Veronika has built friendships with several of our staff, and once she feels comfortable, Miss Veronika is a very affectionate and cuddly lady who will be sure to come nudge you with her nose for pets. Veronika is still quite young, so she`ll enjoy a home where she can get daily exercise and try new games and activities. Veronika is still working on her confidence building - fast movements and loud noises can be a lot - so a home that can build a routine and allow her to gain confidence at her own pace would be ideal. We do not know Veronika`s history with other animals or children; to help Veronika feel safe in her new home, all human and furry household members should be able to respect this girl`s space. We are offering 3 free post-adoption consults to help Veronika settle into a new home. If you are ready to fall in love with the sweetest girl, come visit today.
