Story
🐶 🐕 SKITTLES Female 2 1/2 years, 52 lbs & AVAILABLE Husky / BC mix – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶 SKITTLES was a great mom to her 10, yes 10, awesome Sweets and Treats puppies, and now she is ready for her forever home. Once her babies were adopted SKIT really began to shine. She has come a long way from the pancaking, pregnant, and shy gal to the protective, correcting mom, to a friendly, outgoing gal we foster parents love. She gets along well with people and other dogs. She’s been fine around the cats, but with her husky bloodlines we’d still caution against a home with cats. SKITTLES is about 2 1/2years of age, 52 lbs., with a thick medium coat. SKITTLES is crate and house trained. She has not pottied in the house since her “mom” days. She is now very comfortable in her crate (home and travel) during down and overnight sleep time. She knows “crate” and willingly goes in on her own as she knows it’s either meal or treat time. She knows sit, does ok with down, and has excellent recall even when distracted by people or dogs at the park next door. We are working on “off” as she likes jumping up (gently) on people, and does her share of licking the counters clean (we ensure no food is left for her to get) but responds well to direction. SKITTLES, after proper introductions, does well with people and other dogs. Once she trusts, she trusts completely. Treats and patience are the way to SKITTLES’s heart. She sits politely for pets, but she is not overbearing. When you stop she’ll find a dog bed or a spot on the floor and patiently wait for the next round...and the next…and the next. SKITTLES is happy inside or outside, wherever she has companionship. Sun, rain, snow…nothing deters her. She is happiest when her people accompany her outside (she’ll chase a ball or play keep away with a stick) and is almost as happy playing with her foster siblings. She especially enjoys Perkins, who plays to her energy level. She’d prefer a “Perkins-like” four legged companion to help her burn off energy, but would be fine as an only dog if you include yourself in all her activities, and she in yours. The more SKITTLES is included in your activities the quicker the bonding will occur. SKITTLES is micro-chipped, spayed, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application (https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) and wish to inquire about SKITTLES, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration. SKITTLES is fostering north of Corning in Tehama County, CA.

Story
🐶 🐕 CRUZ Male Border collie mix approximately 4 ½ - 5 years, 40 lbs & AVAILABLE – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶 Meet CRUZ, a handsome 4 ½ to 5-year-old, 40 pound, smooth-coated black-and-white boy with classic border collie markings. A sweet, happy boy, he immediately takes to people. In fact, his favorite place to be is with people. He needs nothing more than a human to pet him, and a lap in which to drop his head, to be content. He is comfortable and enjoys the outdoors, but CRUZ has a strong drive to be inside where he can be safe, warm (or cool), secure, and near his family. CRUZ can go from content-to-simply-hang-with-his-human to playing a rousing game of fetch in a finger-snap. Most times he will bring the ball back to you and drop it or let you take it from his gentle mouth. And when you tire of tossing, he switches off his BC boy energy and settles back into hang out mode, often joining his foster dad on the outside bench for cuddles and pets.   CRUZ likes toys and sticks, well, really, more like branches, and when our puppy Una was here, he had nonstop fun playing tug with her. He gets along well with all the other dogs in his foster home. Sometimes he can be a little forward in his play, so the temperament of the other dog(s) in his home will matter, though he seems naturally gentler with smaller dogs like our little chihuahua house guest. While he would enjoy the company of another dog, he’d really love to be the only one so he gets all the attention. He has become increasingly interested in the cats, and not in a good way. Cruz will need a cat-free environment. CRUZ has some medical issues. He is mildly incontinent (controlled with medication). CRUZ will also require a low protein diet. We are happy discuss these issues further, and we can even share lab results, particularly if you’d like to discuss with your veterinarian.  CRUZ is smart, having learned to negotiate the doggy door very quickly and to walk nicely on the short leash walks he takes in his foster home. He also enjoys longer walks and could be a good running partner. CRUZ is mostly praise, but also treat motivated, which should make his continued training fun. CRUZ is crate trained. He has made great progress on his housetraining. If you are looking for a devoted companion that loves to be loved on, a fun-loving boy who is a joy to train and play with, and love petting your pup, then please consider giving CRUZ his forever home. CRUZ is micro-chipped, neutered, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application (https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) and wish to inquire about CRUZ, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration. Story
🐶 🐕 BUN Male Border collie mix approximately 5 months (as of early July), 26 pounds, and #AVAILABLE – for more pictures please click https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶 Meet BUN! BUN is a tri-colored, smooth coated border collie mix boy about 5 months of age, 26 pounds. One of four brothers (the other three doing very well in their new homes), BUN has really blossomed into a confident young boy. He is a delightful pup who loves nothing more than to hang with his hoomans and / or his doggy friends. His favorite place is on his foster mom’s lap while we are watching TV. BUN is highly treat-motivated, toy-motivated, and moderately praise-oriented, which should make training a blast. Hold a treat in your hand, or shake that treat jar, and you have his undivided attention. He enjoys romping around, playing tug, and chewing on toys. BUN is house and crate trained. He settles nicely in his crate for meals and down time, but then that puppy exuberance takes over and let the games begin. Walk by and he perks up, letting you know it’s time for food or play, and hopefully both. He loves his dog friends, and largely ignores the indoor cats. BUN would benefit from having another dog in the home to show him the way, but with proper attention he will be fine as an only dog. BUN may enjoy activities like nosework, agility, or Treibball to stimulate his mind and exercise his growing body. He is not an over-the-top active BC, but he will need to burn off some of that energy to be the best dog he can be. If you are looking for a fun-loving, adorable, young boy to include in all your family activities, you have come to the right place. BUN is current on vaccinations, as well as heartworm and flea/tick prevention. He is microchipped. As a condition of puppy adoption, he will need to be neutered when he reaches approximately 6 months (specific time to be determined by your vet). In addition to the adoption fee, puppy adoption requires a $75 neuter deposit. Upon our receiving the neuter certificate from you, the deposit is refunded. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Application and wish to inquire (or apply here - https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) about BUN, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration. BUN is being fostered north of Corning in Tehama County, California.

Story
Boomer is a sweet dog with a lot of energy. He loves being petted and going for walks. He does not do well with farm animals (goats, horses, chickens) as he has an innate sense to herd them- without the proper training a herding dog would need. He would be great for a family or with anyone who will love on him or have the time to take him out to burn off energy.

Story
Meet IZZY, 🐶🦮🐾 We saved Izzy today from a shelter that was in CODE RED, where she’s been for 90 days, putting her at risk of euthanasia. This blue-eyed beauty is not only stunning but also well-behaved and fun! She’s looking for a loving family to be a part of her life. Izzy is nearly perfect – she knows many commands and more, making her a great fit for almost any home. She truly deserves a loving family. Can you help her find one? Izzy sits, shakes, lays down, rides great in the car, and walks wonderfully on a leash. She’s already trained! At just 38 pounds, she’s compact and has medium energy, so she needs walks and playtime. She loves water, listens well, and is treat-motivated to learn more. Plus, she’s very affectionate. Izzy is great with all dogs and people, but she likes to chase cats and squirrels, so a home without cats would be best. Izzy is a spayed, approximately 2-year-old, 38-pound Siberian Husky mix. She’s up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and chipped. We have a veterinarian exam scheduled for her on June 17th. She also comes with a complete list of her medical records from the shelter. Let’s help this beautiful girl find her forever home! 🏡
