Story
My name is Luke and I came here on 8/17 after being abandoned. Although it was sad, I think it was for the best, because I am a very smart dog and need to be in a home that can give me the exercise, time and attention I long for. I'm a beautiful brindle boy who is a great dog. I'm not a digger or one that destroys stuff. I'm not a barky or mouthy dog. In fact, I'm pretty chill in my pen. Even though my owners left me, I came here already knowing how to sit on command! I really want to please and love training! The volunteer trainer here says I'm a good dog and learning so much! I know how to sit, walk on a leash and am very treat motivated! I'll do best in a home who will be consistent and remind me about the proper way to get attention. I'm just a young, energetic boy who needs calm, consistent, structured guidance. I had a sleep-over with one family and I did great with their small kids. I was fine sleeping in a crate there, and also did good with their pig, chickens, and dog (I like to play with other rough-and tumble dogs.) I LOVE to be rubbed under my chin, on my chest and around my ears. I hope for a family who will take me on walks, have a fenced yard or like to go on long walks. All I want is love and a chance. I have a heart of gold. I really do. BONUS: The dog trainer will give FREE training lessons to Luke's lucky adopter. This is something we will require, to ensure a long, happy life for Luke and his family! ........ We do ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Story
My name is Elsa and I came here on 10/3 with my son. We were picked up as strays and our owners could no longer care for us. But, they did a nice job training us. I am a sweet, little pittie. I'm only halfway up to your knees. I walk well on a leash, take treats gently, and love people. I'm not fond of cats and I'm iffy with some dogs, but love others...so a meet and greet is best. My dream home will have a family who will cuddle me and let me snooze on a snuggly bed or blanket. I'd love a fenced yard, or folks who will take me on a leash to go potty. AND...Since I'm a senior, any major medical needs I might have as I age is being donated by The Helping Paw Project ---as long as you use one of the vets they work with. (Shots, nails, and routine vet visits are not included.) I'm a healthy girl, but for the future, that's a great deal! Now...let me tell you more. If you are looking for a pretty petite, affectionate girl who knows how to obey, I'm a good pick! ***NOTE: Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip and vaccines; all required before adoptions are finalized. ........... Story
"Hi there! I'm called Rain, because at just 9 months old, I was found chained to a tree in the pouring rain, with only a plastic dog carrier as shelter. I was a bit scared when I got here, but I'm happy now! I absolutely adore belly rubs, treats, and lively games of tug of war with my favorite toy. I am very well behaved because I work with a trainer every week! I must say, I'm doing so well!!! She says I'm incredibly attentive and have learned so much already. These are her exact words: "Rain is VERY sweet and has a strong willingness to please. She is treat motivated, which is great for training. She loves to play fetch and enjoys a good scratch on her chest. She has come a long way and does really well with calm children, men and women. She will probably be good with other dogs, though we definitely need to do a meet-n-greet. She is curious about cats, so we will test her more if folks request that. She does bark when she gets excited, but she has been learning that barking once is enough. She will do best with a family that is willing to continue working with her puppy-like tendencies. There will be free ongoing training sessions from me to whoever adopts her." "Isn't it nice she said all that? We get FREE training! I've already mastered the art of sitting, walk nicely on a leash, and know other manners as well! I'm determined to absorb every bit of love and training, so that I can be the very best little girl in a forever home of my own. Could you be that special family for me?" ........ Story
Cotton is a sweet little 25lb, pint-sized girl who is great with kids and dogs. At just around a year old, Cotton has loved everyone she meets, including strangers, the vet, and the groomer! We have no idea why she came to us as a stray and was never claimed. Although she pretends to acts tough in her kennel (a good watch dog), this girl is an incredible lover who just wants to be in your lap. Cotton rides fantastic in the car; listening to country music as she looks out the window watching life go by. She likes to have a good time and will entertain you with her sillyness. We recently found out she loves to wade in the water: maybe a boating pal? Cotton continues to work on her leash training. Thankfully she strives to please and is a totally manageable size. If you are looking for a sweet, endearing, lap dog, Cotton is for you! ........ We do ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Send us a message here OR email us at macoupincountyac@gmail.com. Story
Piper is a tall, long-legged girl who was found as a stray back in April. Piper is submissively sweet with people, and then runs and plays hard with any dog friends. About one year old, Piper loves to be loved on and is very affectionate in return. Plus, she is just a striking, pretty, tall beauty. She is an amazing girl and will be an all-around great family dog. If you are looking for loving girl to be your (or your dog's) best buddy, Piper is a great option! ........ Story
A note from Dodge himself: "Hey there, I'm Dodge, a one-year-old Labrador mix with a heart full of love, I just don't know how to show it. I didn't have the best start in life. I was neglected, so now I don't know about things like snuggles, treats and toys. I sometimes pull on the leash, because I'm so excited about walking, but a training collar or no-pull harness with help with that. I really want to learn how to be a companion. I'm not withdrawn or timid...I just am a bit independent because humans have not been a big source of connection for me. But, guess what? I have already learned that I love scratches on my chest! Pure bliss. It makes me feel warm, fuzzy and loved. And when it comes to other dogs, I'm a social butterfly—I love making new friends. Plus, I'm a good watch dog! I'll bark if someone is coming on the property or to the door, so that's a good thing I can help with! I'm Dodge, and I can't wait to restart my life in my forever home!" ........
