Story
Oakley is a great dog, we rescued her from a farm and she is super sweet. She is very energetic and loves to play but needs someone to be with her more. My husband and I work a lot and we just rescued her to try and give her a better life and vet care but there just isn’t any time for her like she deserves. She is partly potty trained but mainly stays outside in her dog house. She does pretty well inside and usually does not have many accidents. She needs a family that can play with her and children that have time for her as well. She does great with kids but I would recommend older children just for her energy level but she’s not aggressive at all.

Story
Huk is a 3 year old full blooded German Shorthaired Pointer. He is very mild mannered and loves to cuddle and play ball. He does not beg at the dinner table. He knows sit, shake, lie down sometimes kiss and sometimes stay (work in progress!) We havent had him for very long, but he needs a new family that will love him as much as we do. We have another dog and he has proven to be uncomfortable and shows aggression towards other dogs. We believe he would be a great in family where he is the only dog.

Story
Gary is a very sweet 1 1/2 yr old boy, my son got him from a rescue shelter about 6 months ago, my son is young & has a small apartment, a new job which requires him to be away 12 hour shifts. This is not fair for Gary & we would like him to go to a good home that has time & attention for Gary. He’s a great dog he does need more training not to jump but I believe if he had more room to run he would be an amazing addition to a family. He is very high energy. He would make an excellent farm dog. Maybe with right training even a cow/sheep herding. He has much potential.

Story
Binny is a goofy 60lb, 8 y/o lab mix. He has had TPLO surgery on both legs so has slowed down some and would be happy with walks at this later stage in his life. A yard to get some zooming around in is certainly a plus. Crate trained, leash trained, responsive to commands, and housebroken. He is initially reactive to other dogs, he'd need some time and patience to build those relationships. He's best off being the only dog in a home if possible. He does great with kids and hasn't had issues with cats he's met. A very loving dog who loves to zoom when given the opportunity but also likes to relax and sit in the sun!

Decatur, IL
Size
(when grown) Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
Details
Good with dogs, Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Location: Decatur, IL Emerald is a puppy mill survivor! She has adjusted well to home life and loves to be with her person. Emerald is sometimes shy and insecure with strangers (especially men) and will bark at them. Her new family will need to understand this and take things slow when introducing new people and having guests. We recommend short visits that are positive to help her be ok with new people. Emerald has discovered all the joys of toys and likes to play with them. Her favorite toys are the soft toys. She also likes her lick mat and receiving special yummies. She spins in circles when she is happy or excited. She gets along great with other dogs and will play with them, but she can also entertain herself. She is good with snuggles from people but is unsure about being picked up and will run away at first. This should get better with time and as she learns to trust. Emerald is considered a flight risk and will need a secure physical fence to keep her safe. Someone with mill dog experience is needed or another canine companion in the dog. Another dog will help her continue her studies in being a pet. Emerald's adoption fee is $375. She is spayed and current on vaccines and on monthly flea and heart worm prevention. Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process. NOTE: WE ARE A VOLUNTEER RAN ORGANIZATION AND OUR APPLICATION PROCESS CAN TAKE 7-10 BUSINESS DAYS, DEPENDING ON OUR AVAILIBILITY AND YOUR REFERENCES. ALL OF OUR DOGS ARE IN FOSTER HOMES AND NOT AT A CENTRAL LOCATION. AN APPROVED APPLICATION IS REQUIRED BEFORE WE DO MEET AND GREETS. WE DO NOT SHIP OR TRANSPORT DOGS.
