Story
Location: Decatur, IL Requires a secure physical fenced yard, another dog or puppy mill experience. Alice is a puppy mill survivor! She is still learning the ways of being a pet and adjusting to life in a home. Alice is shy and insecure with strangers (especially men) and will bark at them. Her new family will need to understand this and take things slow when introducing new people and having guests. We recommend short visits that are positive to help her be ok with new people. She would not be suited in a home that has many guests. Alice likes to survey her world perched on a chair or couch and this probably makes her feel safer as she can see more. She has accepted and enjoys attention from her foster mom and will sit on her lap and be petted and brushed. She is foster mom's shadow and follows her everywhere and gets under foot, making her less than ideal for someone with mobility problems. Alice does not currently interact a lot with the resident dog but she watches and she is learning. It is recommended another dog be in the home or someone who has experience with puppy mill dogs. Alice prefers to be near her person at night and can sleep in a crate as long as she can see her foster mom. Alice is considered a flight risk and will need a secure physical fence to keep her safe. Alice's adoption fee is $375. She will be spayed and receive a dental April 26 and ready to go home the first weekend in May. She is current on vaccines and on monthly flea and heart worm prevention. Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process. NOTE: WE ARE A VOLUNTEER RAN ORGANIZATION AND OUR APPLICATION PROCESS CAN TAKE 7-10 BUSINESS DAYS, DEPENDING ON OUR AVAILIBILITY AND YOUR REFERENCES. ALL OF OUR DOGS ARE IN FOSTER HOMES AND NOT AT A CENTRAL LOCATION. AN APPROVED APPLICATION IS REQUIRED BEFORE WE DO MEET AND GREETS. WE DO NOT SHIP OR TRANSPORT DOGS. YOU MUST COME TO THE LOCATION OF THE DOG TO MEET AND ADOPT.

Location: Decatur, IL Emerald is a puppy mill survivor! She is still learning the ways of being a pet and adjusting to life in a home. Emerald is sometimes shy and insecure with strangers (especially men) and will bark at them. Her new family will need to understand this and take things slow when introducing new people and having guests. We recommend short visits that are positive to help her be ok with new people. Emerald has discovered all the joys of toys and likes to play with them. She spins in circles when she is happy or excited. Emerald is not sure about grass but is getting a little more comfortable with being outside. She likes to lay on the concrete in the sun. She gets along great with other dogs and will play with them, but she can also entertain herself. She is good with snuggles from people but is unsure about being picked up and will run away at first. This should get better with time and as she learns to trust. Emerald is considered a flight risk and will need a secure physical fence to keep her safe. Someone with mill dog experience is needed or another canine companion in the dog. Another dog will help her continue her studies in being a pet. Emerald's adoption fee is $375. She is spayed and current on vaccines and on monthly flea and heart worm prevention. Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process. Story
Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process. Located in Decatur, IL Marty is an easy going gal that was used for breeding purposes. It's obvious she has spent some time in a home and is laid back and easy to care for. Marty enjoys being outside and checking things out. She has been fairly quiet but gets excited in the morning and likes to "sing" and run around the house. She enjoys dog beds and cuddling with her human equally. Marty gets along great with other dogs, but doesn't need a canine companion in her new home. She is crate trained and can sleep in her crate at night, but she would also enjoy sleeping with her person. Marty has dry eye in both eyes and will require daily eye drops from your vet. She is very good about taking the drops and waits patiently. She is also good for baths and brushing. Marty is a fantastic gal and someone will be lucky to have her! Marty's adoption is 375. She is spayed, recently received a dental, microchipped, current on vaccines, and on monthly heartworm prevention. Visit leiashope.org for next steps. PLEASE NOTE: We are a volunteer ran rescue with full time jobs. Please allow 7-10 days for application processing. All of our dogs are in foster homes and a meet and greet is done ONLY after an approved application. We do adopt out of the area. However, we do not ship or provide transportation. You must come to the location of the dog to meet and adopt. NO EXCEPTION. All family members and dogs must be present at the meet. Dogs are a commitment for THEIR lifetime. For puppies this could be 15 years. If YOU cannot commit to the lifetime of the DOG, please do not apply. Puppies under 9 months must go to a home where there is someone home frequently (works from home or a partner is home), can adequately socialize and train the puppy, and can keep up with puppy energy!

Story
Visit leiashope.org for next steps! Requirements: Secure PHYSICAL fenced yard Pearl is a spunky and sassy Shih Tzu that likes to use her voice! She is a previous breeder dog and was shy at first but has warmed up in her foster home and has the Shih Tzu attitude the breed is loved for! Pearl likes to play, but she can be a little rough in her play. She has found a great playmate with the 16 lb Shihtzu mix in the foster home. The two of them run and jump on each other, tackle and wrestle until they are tired. She loves to chew and enjoys her weekly raw meaty bone given in her kennel. Pearl was very picky with her food when she came into rescue and so foster mom tried her on raw (which is what her dogs eat) and she eats it well. Foster mom is mixing raw with kibble and she does well with it. Pearl has only been around a toddler and she was terrified to the point of pooping herself. It is not recommended that small children live in the home with Pearl. She will require a secure physical fenced yard. Pearl's adoption is $375. She is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines and on monthly flea and heart worm prevention. Visit leiashope.org for next steps! PLEASE NOTE: We are a volunteer ran rescue with full time jobs. Story
Location Decatur, IL Visit leiashope.org for our adoption process This lady is wonderful. She has a great demeanor, not a dare devil but not overly sensitive. She is highly treat motivated and smart to pick up almost anything taught to her! She snores when she sleeps, which is ADORABLE, and grunts when cuddling! Pink Lady has been raised on Puppy Culture. Puppy Culture is a comprehensive program for new puppies that aims to optimize a puppy's physical and mental developement. The goal of the program is to raise confident and healthy puppies. Since birth Lady has been handled, touched, stroked, smooched on and doted over. She has had many experiences to different sights, sounds (thunderstorm, dogs barking, TV, train, vacuum, hair dryer, etc.) and surfaces (grass, carpet, rock, vinyl, water, stairs, balance board, etc). In addition, she has had many opportunities to meet different people and dogs and go to different places. She has been taught to explore and try new things, how to communicate with people through manding, how to be creative in her thoughts and approaches to challenges, and been exposed to grooming equipment. And let me tell you, Lady has been great about it all! Lady has been weaned on a raw diet and had her gut biome enhanced with a variety of different foods. Studies have shown this can help with gut health throughout the rest of her life. Lady still gets a lot of her nutrition from mom (who also eats raw) and will need to remain with mom until fully weaned. She will also stay with foster mom until she receives her second round of vaccines. The approx date when Lady will be able to go with her new family is July 27, but it could be sooner or later depending on when these two things happen. No worries, we will stay in touch with her family and provide updates. Lady does have a small umbilical hernia that can be repaired at the time of spay. Other than this, she is a healthy puppy! Lady's adoption is $600. Here is what your $600 gets you: 1. At least 2 rounds of vaccines (DAPP and bordetella), approx value $100 2. Complete wellness exam, microchip, and deworming, approx value $130 3. Spay and neuter reimburse, value $200 4. Puppy Culture training from birth to adopt, approx value $300+ 5. Puppy Culture training for new family, value $100 6. Food to take home, approx value $20 7. A cute, snuggly, perfect puppy, value PRICELESS! Story
Location Decatur, IL Application at leiashope.org Frankie is the sweetest of all the pups. He loves attention and to be held and cuddled. When I sit on the floor he is usually the first to come running. He is the biggest boy and him and Pink Lady swap back and forth between who weighs the most. He does like treats but for him, his biggest motivator is affection. Frankie has been raised on Puppy Culture. Puppy Culture is a comprehensive program for new puppies that aims to optimize a puppy's physical and mental developement. The goal of the program is to raise confident and healthy puppies. He has been taught to explore and try new things, how to communicate with people through manding, how to be creative in his thoughts and approaches to challenges, and been exposed to grooming equipment. Frankie is pretty even tempered about most things and is usually happy as long as he is getting loved on. Frankie has been weaned on a raw diet and had his gut biome enhanced with a variety of different foods. Studies have shown this can help with gut health throughout the rest of his life.
