Story
Banks is fostered in Ottumwa, Iowa.  Say hello to this handsome and INCREDIBLY sweet boy named Banks. Banks is a male, standard aussie, weighing about 40 lbs and is estimated around 5 years old. Banks is a SWEET boy and would love nothing more than a home with plenty of love and another outgoing dog friend. Banks' first few years were spent with approximately 60 other dogs on a property.  When the man was getting evicted, he gave away all the dogs to random people that arrived to pick one out.  Thankfully, Banks was given to a responsible person that allowed us to take him into rescue. H is coat was in rough shape with matting and had to be shaved/  His coat has returned nicely and he looks REMARKABLE. Banks goes to doggie daycare and plays well with many other dogs. Banks will chill after a fair amount of play, chew on antlers or bones. Banks is being fostered with many other dogs and does wonderfully. Banks has great house manners; is crate trained and house trained. While Banks is a little timid and shy, he is SOOO happy and has learned SO MUCH in foster care.  He does seek out pets from his foster home and even gives a few kisses.  He also sleeps in the bed with other dogs and does VERY well being left out in the house. Banks will do best with another outgoing, social dog in the home to take cues from.  Banks does require a physically fenced yard.  Banks is even good with cats.  Little kids may scare Banks, so no children under 10 years of age.   Banks is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccines (including Lyme) and is receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm preventatives for all past and current pets is required to adopt from us.  If you have what it takes to help Banks blossom into the bestest boy, please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, see our adoption fees, and find a link to our adoption application.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.   NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##1850267##

Story
Magyk is being fostered in Cuba MO Meet Magyk! This stunning red tri 2 year old male Mini American Shepherd (Mini Aussie) is ready for his forevers! He weighs 37lbs.  This little rascal is ready to enjoy the finer things in life. He spent many weeks roaming as a scared stray, running from any human physical contact. After an experienced trapper successfully caught him and lots of decompression with his foster mom, he’s really begun to come out of his shell.  Magyk has adjusted very well to home life and loves it!  He is learning so many great things, like people come with treats, playtime is super fun!  He is still learning to walk on leash.  He rides in a crate in the car and does well.  He was a good boy at the vet too! Magyk is looking for a family who is patient and understands that he will take some time to openly trust. Once you’ve passed the vibe check, he is the funniest guy! He loves crunchy treats, zooming around, and wiggle butt scratches. He is quite the affectionate guy!!!  Magyk’s forever home MUST have a physically fenced yard and he would do best in a home with a confident dog that he can look to for social cues with humans and play with. Due to still being scared of unpredictability, Magyk would do best in a home with older or no children. Magyk is neutered, negative for all tick borne diseases, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and ready to learn to love.  If this shy hunk of love is the perfect fit for your family, please submit an adoptio application today by going to our website https://midwestaustralianshepherdrescue.org/home/ ##2021984##

Story
THE HONORABLE BARNEY FIFE IS FOSTERED IN ST LOUIS, MISSOURI. The Honorable Barney Fife came to us from a shelter in Kansas.  He is a gorgeous black tri male, approximately 3-4 year old, who weighs just under 40 lbs.  He is ready for his next adventure after being a stray and nobody claiming him. Barney is just a boy who LOVES his people.  He loves to be super close to his humans and gets very excited when seeing them.  He would to best in a home with someone that is home more often than not.  Barney is not a big fan of his crate.  He does well being left out of the crate for periods of time.  He is house trained and has good house manners.   Barney would LOVE to be the center of your attention and not have to compete for it.  While Barney is in a foster with other dogs, he would be best with submissive dogs his own size.  He is learning how to play with toys.  Barney is VERY food motivated and we would suggest an adopter that would be willing to complete some basic obedience with him.  We recommend a home with a physical fence and one without small children.   Barney is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  NOTE:  Proof of monthly prevention is required for all prior or current dogs to be approved to adopt with our rescue.   If you are interested in this gorgeous boy and can give him his next adventure, please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our addoption application.   ##2005999##

Story
Rue is being fostered in Vandalia IL Meet Rue.  This 60 lb. STUNNING silky soft coated black tri male Australian Shepherd is looking for his forever home.  He is affectionate, sweet and oh so loving with his people.  Rue came to rescue because his previous home had a significant change in jobs and needed to travel for work way to often to be able to provide time with him. Rue is well trained with tons of skills!  He knows sit, down, stay, wait, leave it, and so many more.  He has EXCELLENT house manners and doesn't need to be crated when no one is home. He also enjoys riding in the car.  Rue needs a home with another smaller dog or to be the only pup.  He doesn't like to share his human and can be a bit protective of his human from other dogs.  He will need someone that is dog savvy and has good leadership like any other Aussie owner.  He walks well on a leash too! He is currently in a home with another Aussie and they don't see eye to eye, but he also has a small 4 legged foster sibling (Feist, small hunting dog) and she is the BOSS and they co-exist without incident.  In his previous home, Rue would go to doggie daycare for half days and had a great time!  Rue would like a quieter home with no children, no cats, maybe another dog but it would depend on the dog, and a fenced backyard of his own, or someone that would walk him each day, play with him, and occupy his mind with some mental stimulation like tricks or hide and seek.  He would be absolutely perfect for a retired couple or person that wants a well trained dog.  He would really thrive in that kind of environment.  If Rue sounds like the sidekick for you, please complete an adoption application today at https://midwestaustralianshepherdrescue.org/home/adoption-application/ ##2048348##

Story
Daffodil is fostered in the Kansas City, MO area.   Daffodil is one of a several pups that were surrendered to the rescue from a hoarding situation.  She is a beautiful red tri mini/toy aussie with a tail.  She currently weighs between 20-24 lbs and is estimated to be about 2 years old.   She is a pretty social and playful girl.  She enjoys car rides and leash walks.  She also enjoys getting brushed.  She is a quick one to become attached to her person and totally eager to please her human. She has been pretty good on social outings and to the neighborhood pet store.  She can be a little leary of men, but is warming up to the idea of them.  Daffodil is in a foster home with other dogs and will need to build confidence with her humans. She is currently learning to play with toys. She's a funny girl - she loves bark at herself in the mirror.  Daffodil would probably do best with a physically fenced yard and no kids under 10 years of age.  We would also recommend a doggie sibling in her adoptive home.   Daffodil is spayed, up-to-date on all vaccinations, microchipped and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm for prior and current pets is required to adopt from our rescue. MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2065726##

Story
Skipper is being fostered in Wayland, MI Please meet Skipper dee-do-dah, Skipper dee-day, my oh my what a wonderful dog! He is a 2.5 year old beautiful red tri male with lots of personality and joy for life.  His previous home was with a family and their dog, so he adapts well to different family vibes.  Skipper is a young dog with medium to high energy, loves to play with his toys and his foster brother, enjoys adventures (swimming, boating, hiking, car rides, etc.), but he is also able to switch off and just hang out quietly when told. We are introducing him to “take a break” as a cue that play is over.  Skipper has a good “sit” and a pretty decent recall (without distractions). We have been continually reinforcing these through everyday activities. We are also adding new cues such as “down”, “off”, “leave it”, “no”, and especially “stay”. Skipper has very nice leash manners and responds to “heel”. His foster mom uses “good” as a continuation marker and “yes” as a reward marker. Skipper likes his food, so treats are used for all training sessions and activities currently. He takes them very gently and politely. Training is also done through play and Skipper is beign taught"give" when he returns a toy.  He is quickly learning that “give" means he gets it thrown again so he can continue to play.  Skipper is a smart dog and is learning things every day and with consistency and patience he will thrive even more! Skipper loves attention and can get pushy about getting it. He has a big, blocky head that he uses to his advantage! His foster mom is working on personal space awareness as Skipper equates “good boy" as praise for him wanting attention. His foster mom is happy to share the training and cues she is working with him on.  Skipper would do better in a home with kids 12 of age or older.  He might do okay with a cat (a dog savvy one) as his evaluation said there was a cat in his previous home.  Skipper has done well with grooming - bathing, nail traims and brushings.   Skipper is bit head shy and has a tendency to duck and cover or run when things flap at or near him (i.e., shaking out an article of clothing or a towel, carrying a bag or item in my hand, opening a garbage bag, etc.). Skipper's foster mom will continue working on this so he hopefully can recover from this fear.  Skipper has shown excellent house manners and does well being left out with his foster brother. Skipper is house trained and crate trained. Skipper is a young dog that enjoys playing, cuddling, adventuring, hiking, riding in cars, eating, and most of all just hanging out with you!  He is smart, very handsome, eager to please, ready to give unconditional love, and be your constant companion and best friend.  Skipper is looking for an active companion or family that he can go on adventures with! If you think Skipper is your boy, please submit an adoption application at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. Skipper is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms. He does require a committed adopter who is willing to devote 1 - 2 hours of mental and physical stimulation per day and continue the training his foster mom has started. MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2062627##
