Story
Dog selective. Belle is in need of a new foster home as a member of the house has become very ill. Belle does not chew on shoes though she does like to carry them around when she gets excited. Belle was born in our care on April 1st 2017 to Momma Orla. She and her siblings were named after Beauty and the Beast characters. She and her "sister" didn't get along so the family felt she would be better with a new family. She did great with her two Chihuahua siblings, and may do well with a male dog. She loves to give kisses and plays hard on toys. One of her favorite past times is to bird watch. Cats and kids are unknown at this time. She is currently in boarding and we need her out!Thank you for your interest in adopting a pet from Guardians of the Green Mile Inc. We are a group of individuals that have come together to save the lives of animals that are in danger of being euthanized. We raise funds to fully vet the animals and to provide them with a stable home until they are adopted. All of the dogs in our Rescue are in Foster homes while they are looking for their forever family. The only time we put a dog in boarding is for a Foster to go on vacation if another Foster is not able to care for them. We appreciate your taking the time to fill out the application to adopt one of our Guardians of the Green Mile pets. The questions that we ask are to only find the right fit for all of our dogs and the families that will be adopting them. Adoption donation is $300.00 for dogs over 1 year old and $350 with a $50.00 spay / neuter deposit for puppies/dogs under 1 year old. Story
Meet Jesse! He was rescued well over a year ago. His foster has been working with him to be his best self and he is finally ready! He was so shut down and scared due to a life of abuse and neglect. Thanks to his amazing foster, he has come out of his shell and learned to love again! He loves people and being held. He does not love stairs! They are still very scary for him. He is around 5-6 years old. If you can open your home and heart to sweet Jesse, please fill out an application! https://www.jotform.us/form/43196636952162Thank you for your interest in adopting a pet from Guardians of the Green Mile Inc. Story
Hi, my name is Gigi! I’m an Akita mix about 3 years old. I’m a very sweet girl and love to run, play, and stretch out in the sun. I really enjoy exploring my world through all its fantastic smells. Chasing small animals is always fun, so a fenced-in yard is a must to make sure I don’t get carried away. Slow introductions are best for me, as I can be a little timid with strangers, but once I’ve warmed up to you, I can be your best pal, whether playing outside or hanging around on the couch. If you give me belly rubs, I’ll be your friend forever! My foster brother and I have a great time playing with each other, and I get along with other dogs once I get to know them. I’m looking for a loving, patient family that can help me grow and build my confidence by gently introducing me to new environments and experiences. Can you be my forever home? *** We have no idea why she’s been waiting so long. She is obviously gorgeous and sweet! She is a careful girl but loves her people fiercely! She is more nervous around new men, but warms up fine as she looooooves her foster dad so much. She is an active girl and loves to run and play with other dogs. In fact, she tends to do best with other dogs around because they help her feel more confident and secure. This pretty girl needs nothing but a little patience and love. If interested in meeting Gigi, fill out an application today! https://www.jotform.us/form/43196636952162Thank you for your interest in adopting a pet from Guardians of the Green Mile Inc. Story
Kenzo continues to amaze us every day. He has been putting in all the work, hoping that is forever family is out there looking for him!! He is doing great with commands. He just about has them all down. He's extremely treat motivated and even more motivated for belly rubs. He loves to love and be loved. He's so gentle with his kisses and cuddles but watch out for his zoomies! He's really enjoying being outside in this weather and sometimes it takes a little convincing to get him to come in. He's doing great on walks and just needs more leash practice. He's doing so well on potty training and he's almost there! He will usually let you know when he has to go, he's just quiet about it. His ability to share space with cats is slowly progressing. If someone was willing to continue to work with him, he would do great. He genuinely just wants to be with you and have all your attention. He's been great around my preschool aged nephews and our female dog. I really hope someone sees him and just knows he'd be the perfect fit for them --Letter from Kenzo's Foster Mom Kenzo is available through Guardians of the Green Mile (www.gotgm.org) of Portage, IN. Story
Who is looking for a Gentle Giant in a compact body? At 55lbs, Bruce is the perfect "small" sized large dog. Bruce was a stray that turned up at someone's house and a neighbor took him in trying to find his family. Sadly no one has stepped forward for this boy. He is a very sweet boy who is very cautious of noises, barks, cars etc. He is learning to sit on command and is working on his leash manners. He hasn't shown any aggression and is generally a slow easy-going guy. He enjoys laying down with his foster family and being petted. He likes to run down the deck stairs into the backyard, around to the other side, and back up. When he runs around in the yard, he lopes around playfully, which he didn't do 2 weeks ago! He is starting to open up for us. We are still learning about Bruce as he begins to come out of his shell, but his foster dad says, "I can see signs of a great dog!" Bruce is available through Guardians of the Green Mile (www.gotgm.org) of Portage, IN.
