Story
Hi, my name is Princess Pearl! I am going to be four years old in March, I think. My human that I lived with for the last few years passed away recently. My foster family is great, but they have a couple of cats that I am not getting along with so well. My foster family also has a 4 1/2 year-old Lab that initially I resented but now after almost 3 months I consider to be my best friend! I have lots of love to give to my human and my ideal home does not have any other pets. I am very smart, very loyal and pretty well trained. I am definitely “treat-motivated“! I am crate trained and feel very comfortable in my safe place.

Story
Hi ! I am Pleasant - That is what they called me when I came to Rescue and I try REALLY hard to live up to my name. I ended up in rescue thru no fault of my own. I had a really happy life before, I even wagged my tail so much part of it is missing but that doesn’t stop me from showing you lots of love! I was really sad when my owner passed away and I didn’t have anywhere to go. My foster Mom says I am sooo smart - I taught myself how to use the doggy door & I am really good at going outdoors for my personal relief. I also am very good at potty pads, if I need to. I love to go outside, smell everything, and enjoy the sunshine so I would really like a home with a fence. But if you don’t have a fence it is not a deal breaker as I have excellent leash manners & love a good walk, esp with friends . I am hard of hearing so please go slow with me, for that reason I might do better in a quieter home. I was a little shy at first in my new digs but I am playing with my foster bros nicely. I do not know how I would do with felines, but am pretty chill & not much bothers me. I am a very healthy, active senior ISO a similar human to hang with & share love .If you think you can help me out I am available thru IN Italian Greyhound Rescue . Please reach out to indianaigrescue@comcast.net for an application or topironhorse2000@hotmail.com for more info Dogs are available in Indiana and bordering states only

Story
Bert is a 7 year old German Shepard/ blue heeler mix! He is full of energy but also enjoys his time relaxing. We are looking to rehome him as we recently have had a kid and he has not adjusted well to a baby walking around. We currently have two other larger dogs who he gets along with well but he is sometimes slow getting used to other dogs but we have had no issues with biting in the past! He also should not have a home with younger children as he is afraid of them. He is a very sweet dog when not around children and loves to be outdoors so a house with a fence would be ideal.

🐾 Meet Courtney! 🐾Are you looking for a loyal companion to join your farm family? Look no further, because Courtney is ready to melt your heart and become your forever friend! This beautiful three-year-old Australian Kelpie mix has had quite the journey before landing in our shelter. Courtney was discovered in a barn, bravely caring for her precious puppies. Now that her puppies have all found loving homes, Courtney is eagerly awaiting her turn to find a family to call her own.Courtney is a spirited and energetic girl with a heart as big as the open fields. She has a natural instinct to explore and would thrive in a farm environment where she can stretch her legs and let her curious nature roam. However, her boundless energy comes with a caveat – Courtney is a bit of an escape artist and can jump up to six feet in the air! That's why she's looking for a home with a high fence or the ability to train boundaries and recall where she can safely learn to channel her athleticism into positive activities. While Courtney may be a bit reserved at first, once you earn her trust, you'll discover her sweet and affectionate nature. Building that trust may take some time, so we recommend visits to the shelter to spend time with her and let her get to know you. Once she opens up, you'll be rewarded with a loyal and loving companion who will always be by your side.Courtney is longing for a patient and understanding family who can provide her with the love, guidance, and structure she needs to thrive. If you're ready to open your heart and home to this special girl, come meet Courtney today and see if she's the perfect fit for your farm family!🌟 Adoption Information 🌟Name: CourtneyBreed: Australian Kelpie MixAge: 3 years oldPersonality: Energetic, sweet, and loyalIdeal Home: Farm with a high fence and patient familySpecial Requirements: Multiple visits to the shelter to build trustLet's give Courtney the loving home she deserves! Story
🐾 Meet Duke! 🐾This adorable 5-year-old Terrier is searching for his forever home! Duke is a stunning black and white dog with an affectionate and playful personality. He’s ready to find a loving family who can give him the time and attention he deserves.About Duke:Age: 5 yearsTemperament: Playful and cuddly, Duke loves to be around people. Duke thrives in an environment where he can play and run freely without being crated most of the day.Good with Dogs and Cats: NoGood with Children: Yes, but due to size older children are best.Housebroken: YesWhy Duke Needs a New Home:Duke was adopted as a puppy from the shelter, but was left with his last owner by a previous partner, and due to work schedules, he spent much of his time crated. He would be happiest in a home where he can be more active and have a dedicated routine for playtime and exercise.Additional Information:Duke is up-to-date on his vaccines, including rabies and distemper, and he is microchipped. He would benefit from a family that can be around more often and love, cuddle and socialize him properly.Ideal Home for Duke:Duke would do best with an active family who has the time to work with him on training (if needed) and can provide a lot of love and exercise. A home WITHOUT other pets is a must due to a lack of socialization around other animals. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will always be there to greet you with a wagging tail and lots of love, Duke is the perfect match for you!Let’s find Duke a home where he can be happy and loved! ❤️Duke is having a pretty hard time at the shelter being in a cage almost all day. He is a great dog but he needs somewhere where he can run around safely. He LOVES people without a doubt. He could be the perfect companion for a single person are even a family but he would have to be the only dogAn adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $250.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.Cats and kittens are a donation of choice.
