Story
Looks: 10/10 Personality: 100/10 Legs: 3/4 Dobby is the cutest boy that steals the heart of everyone he meets! He's adorable, loving, fun, and is ready to bring so much love to his new family. He is a HUGE cuddler and will be your new best couch buddy. He had his back right leg amputated about 1 year ago, and it doesn't slow him down in any way. He absolutely loves to run, play, and be involved in whatever activity you are doing. He is about 10-15lbs. Dobby is alert and active but also the biggest cuddle bug! He loves to always be around his humans no matter what they are doing as he wants to be a part of any activity. Dobby loves to be held while he sleeps or in your lap but will sleep on his bed. When he isn't cuddling, Dobby loves to play fetch and go on car rides. He absolutely loves to go outside an explore. Dobby does well with dogs and cats after a proper introduction. He wants to be king of his household and is looking for a home with small dogs only, or he would be happy being your one and only! He is great with older children and adults, and we expect he will do well with younger children with a proper introduction. Dobby is also leash trained and ready to go explore with you! Dobby is fully vetted: neutered, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, negative for heartworms, and receives a monthly flea/tick/heartworm preventative. Story
THIS PARTICULAR DOG IS NOT AVAILABLE, BUT THERE ARE MANY LIKE HER THAT NEED A FOSTER HOME TO SAVE HER LIFE.     Barktown Rescue is a foster based rescue. We pull dogs from the local shelter and place them into temporary homes until we can find them forever homes. The more foster homes we have, the more dogs we can save. There are more than 6 MILLION dogs and cats euthanized every year. We cannot make a difference alone. We need you to open your home to a dog that would otherwise be euthanized. Please contact us for more information on becoming involved.     'Saving the life of one animal may not change the world, but the world will surely change for that one animal' The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at the dog's predominant breed or breed mix. We strongly encourage you to select your new pet by looking at each dog's individual personality and pet qualities rather than relying on a breed label that is only our best guess.    Our adoption fees vary from $150 and up.  All of our dogs are up to date on vaccines, heart worm preventives, and flea/tick medication, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Portions of your adoption fee also help care for the sick and injured animals that we take in.  Thank you for supporting us and considering a rescue dog!    July 11, 2024, 12:37 pm

Story
SENIORMeet Rose! Rose is a 10 year old Hound mix. Rose is a really sweet girl! Rose needs a home that is dedicated to working with her. She craves love and attention, as she really aims to please and wants to work for you! She would need slow introductions with other dogs, as she is an alpha female, and not recommended for a home with cats or dogs (until fully trained). It would be best to have an experienced, strong person. She would take very well to training and it is highly recommended. Because of her hound nose, she would not be allowed liberty until full trained, and she loves to run and might wander off a track! Rose MUST have a tall fenced yard.  If you would like to make this sweet girl a part of your family, fill out an application at www.barktownrescue.org ROSE'S ADOPTION FEE IS $100The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Story
Meet Stormy! Stormy is a 11 year old Shepherd mix. Stormy is a very social dog, with a high prey drive and easily motivated! She needs an experienced owner, lots of exercise, both physical and mental. She needs to be a ONLY PET. She will need training, but is very intelligent and would take to training with zest! She would make a great dog for SCENT DETECTION, agility, flyball, lure coursing and obedience. You name it, she would love it. She is CRAVING a job! Not recommended for a low activity family and requires a fenced yard!  STORMY'S ADOPTION FEE IS $100.The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs.
