Story
Hi!My name is Kane. I've been at the shelter for quite some time now, and I'd really like to find a home of my own. I have my own room here and the staff and volunteers love me, but it's not the same as being with a loving family of my own. I promise I'm a good boy. I love my people. I'm afraid of going outside, but we're working on it, and I'll come around.I'm a little pocket pup. I'm pretty small, but I'm totally cute, so that's covered. I come with some training techniques on making me more comfortable outside, and all of my balls go wherever I go. Oh yeah, did I mention I love tennis balls? They're my favorite. They pretty much keep me preoccupied. Sometimes I forget they're in my mouth. The staff will walk by my room and catch me snoozing away with the ball still sitting in my mouth, just like it is in this picture. Yup, that's me. I'm the tennis boy at the shelter. I told you I got the cute part covered. I was adopted once and was doing very well until I lost my momma. She loved me very much.I like a very low key home with very few people and distractions.Anyways, enough about me. I want to meet my new family and learn more about YOU! I promise I'll steal your heart.??Head on over to our website to fill out an application if you're interested in meeting me. You won't regret it.To meet me, apply here www.griffinpondanimalshelter.com/adopt

Story
Megg is with us for quite some time since July of 2019 to be exact. We realize that not every dog that comes into the shelter is going to be instantly ready to go directly into a home . Poor Megg was absolutely petrified when she came in . We needed time for her to adjust and so we could could learn what was causing her such distress .She is a great walker but she tends to be shy with new people. She would need a few meet and greets, to establish trust with strangers . Once she is your friend, it is for life. She is adaptable and loving when spending time with people she knows. She can run around and play but really likes petting and relaxing with her people. Would do best as only animal in the home and no children due to her fearfulness. Our staff that have had the most interaction with her say that she has a very sweet nature and loving spirit.Megg is 6 years old and look at how beautiful she is . This girl deserves a forever home and family .She is housebroken, walks perfectly on a leash , takes commands and can be a true best friend. She has been an exceptional dog in her time with us. She would be great with a retired man or woman , or a couple who has time to love on her . If you are interested in meeting Megg , please apply here :Www.griffinpondanimalshelter.com/adopt

Story
Billy is likely the most misunderstood and overlooked dog in all of the shelter .Because he doesn't like other dogs we hear the word "aggressive " thrown around as if it applies to him or others like him . It couldn't be further from the truth .Billy never met a stranger. He's affectionate and loving and ever so happy .He bounces when he walks just bubbling over at the thought of being with a human . He can't contain his excitement .He is completely overjoyed to be spending time with someone, playing fetch or frisbee, running under the sprinkler in the summer or just hanging in the gazebo .He is , however, aware of other dogs and realizes that they make him feel uncomfortable and he doesn't want them in his immediate space .So he would need to be the only dog in a home setting but he would give you all of the attention and love that a thousand dogs could bring .Billy has been with us since September-of 2021 . He weighs 70 pounds and he's 4 1/2 years old .He smiles for miles and it's unfair and unfortunate that he and his companions that don't like other dogs /cats are stigmatized and living in kennels because they would rather be homebodies than go to the dog park. As a human, I choose a quiet , private life free from the stress of public environments which make me uncomfortable. It's a good thing I don't have to live in a cage because of my choices.Billy's adoption fee has been lovingly paid by someone who thinks he's extra special .Please take a chance on this boy , he's larger than life and is so well loved by our staff. If you are a human with an open mind and an open heart , please apply here : https://www.cognitoforms.com/griffinpondanimalshelter1/griffinpondanimalshelteradoptionapplicationfordogsImaging waking up to this face each and every morning! #pitbullawarenessmonth

Story
Meet Jay Jay- aka Rocco! Jay Jay is a loyal boy and he devotes himself to you; he does so with all his heart. He is quite the handsome boy but he is unsure of new people. He would need a patient adopter who wouldn't mind spending some time to get to know him. Once he trusts you, he is a real cuddle bug who loves to be pet and give kisses. Jay Jay loves to play with his toys (especially tennis balls) and usually has a hilarious goofy look on his face. Jay Jay loves his family but would do best in an adult only household with few visitors. Jay Jay is more than enough love for one family so he prefers not to share your attention with other canines or cats. Jay Jay also loves going for runs and playing in the water. He is very smart and loves to eat from puzzle toys. Come meet this handsome doggie today!

Story
Meg has been working with our girl Lola. Lola is our longest resident , having spent more than half of her life in a shelter setting . Imagine what that can do to your attitude and demeanor . We're not sure why Lola wasn't chosen early on but as she kept getting passed over , she declined .She started to pick up habits and feed off of the high energy of the dogs around her . It happens a lot in kennels .It's a high stress environment and some dogs can't shake it off .Lola does best outside in the sun, on walks decompressing and in a low key environment. She's been known to really enjoy dogs her size or smaller, no cats.No children for this girl because she can be unpredictable, especially early on in trusting someone .We have seen her bond with many people, men and women . She definitely prefers women but a man winning her over is not an impossible situation. A dog who can bond with more than one human and do well under guidance is an adoptable dog. This girl deserves a home after all of this time 💔We are hopeful that Meg can continue to work her magic with Lola , as she has helped many other dogs get adopted in this way.If you are interested in meeting Lola and continuing her training, Please apply here :Www.griffinpondanimalshelter.com/adopt Lola's adoption fee is lovingly sponsored.
