Oreo is a sweet and playful kitty who’s looking for a patient and loving home. She can be a little nervous with new people, but once she warms up, she’s affectionate and enjoys being picked up by her family. Her favorite activities include lounging in the sunshine, playing with her feline friends, and even going outside for harnessed adventures! Oreo has lived with other cats, including her buddies Coconut and Daisy, who is also up for adoption here at Dakin. She has also done well in a home with dogs and older kids, though she prefers a quieter environment without young children. With time and love, Oreo will show you her playful, loving side and become a wonderful companion! Change is hard for this cat. This cat will be very nervous when you first bring them home. You will need to set up a room with a litter box, food, and water. It will take days for this cat to become comfortable and confident in the new home. This cat will be going home with a behavior plan that will need to be followed in order for everyone to transition successfully. This is MishMish. He has lived with other cats and did very well with them. He is also a very playful boy. MishMish can be a sassy boy who is looking for an adults only household. He would do best as an indoor/outdoor cat to help with his sassy behaviors. He will also need someone who is willing to do a lot of hands off play with him and is looking for an independent cat. Once settled into a home he will be social on his terms. Sassy Cat Sassy cats are usually confident, intelligent and active. They often don’t like to be held, or have places on their bodies that they prefer not to be touched. When handled or petted in ways they do not prefer, they are likely to swat, nip or bite. They will be happiest in adult only homes or those with older kids who understand cats that have rules and will leave them alone. If they are bored then they may get into trouble and often need extra playtime in order to be their best selves. Sassy cats will go home with a behavior plan that will need to be followed in order for EVERYONE in the home to be happy. Typically, sassy cats are not for first-time cat owners. Indoor/Outdoor Required Cats I have the spirit of a lion in my heart and it makes me want to roam and hunt. Do you appreciate a hunter? I need more adventure and activity than an indoor cat will get. If I am not allowed outdoors then I will get into trouble. This means I will play with things I am not supposed to and I may even start “hunting” the people that live there. Yeti is a very special girl with a heart full of love. Estimated to be around 9 years old, she was found matted, dirty, and struggling to survive on the streets last winter. Thankfully, one of our dedicated volunteers was able to rescue her, and Yeti has spent the past 11 months in a foster home, gradually adjusting to life indoors.At first, Yeti was very scared, but even during those early months, she would purr if you sat next to her crate, showing her quiet desire for connection. Now, Yeti has blossomed into a loving house cat, and her transformation has been nothing short of remarkable.
