Story
Misty Hope is a quiet beauty with a gentle soul. This pretty longhaired kitty spent years in foster care with one of our wonderful rescue partners, and while she’s always welcomed soft pets and gentle handling, she tends to take her time warming up in new spaces. In her most recent foster home, Misty showed just how much she appreciates a peaceful environment, sharing space comfortably with other easygoing cats and seeking out cozy spots to relax. As her foster described, `She likes her quiet places in a crate but comes to her caregivers for attention.` Misty enjoys the simple pleasures—perching by a window, lounging on a cat tree shelf, and curling up in a quiet nook. She’s looking for a patient adopter who will give her the time and love she needs to fully settle in. If you’re looking for a sweet, serene companion, Misty Hope might be the perfect match! If you’d like to meet our available pets, please check the “shelter information” box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Fairfax Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours! Both of our locations are open Tuesdays and Wednesdays 12-5 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 12-7 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays 11 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information on our adoption process, including requirements and fees, visit: www.fairfaxcounty.gov/animalshelter/adopt

Story
How gorgeous are these guys?? And they come with bonus toes, just like their mama! These cuties were rescued with their mama and five bottle baby kittens. From the very beginning, they were protective of the babies in their care, putting the needs of the kittens before their own. Now that everybody is grown, these guys are showing their true personalities.Travie is quiet for a kitten. She prefers to watch what's going on around her. She loves hanging with her brother Jason and her mama. As she grows, her fur gets a sort of mad scientist craziness. Don't let that deter you - Travie is SO sweet and ready for someone to show her a lifetime of love. Jason is the biggest and boldest of the pair. He will come charging into watch the action and has no problems setting boundaries with the resident dogs. Jason and Travie would love to go to a home together, preferably with no dogs. They are not fans of the chaos dogs bring. Thank you for your interest in Jason! Please visit www.hart90.org/petdetail.aspx?ID=18554 to get the most up-to-date and accurate information on this pet, to email the contact person listed for more information and how to meet Jason, or to submit an online application. NOTE THAT ALL CATS FROM UKRAINE REQUIRE A HOME CHECK! Breed – DLH Orange Tabby Neutered Male Weight – 11 lb Estimated Age – 5.5 years If you are interested in adopting this cat, please fill out our cat adoption questionnaire at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HTAR/Cat. For questions, email saufenka@yahoo.com. HOW TO MEET THIS CAT: This cat is in a foster home. To meet, please complete the adoption questionnaire. LOCATION: Foster home ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Shana, saufenka@yahoo.com ADOPTION FEE: $220. This fee INCLUDES neuter, vaccines, and microchip. Ask us about our many adoption benefits that include free exams, pet insurance, and other discounts! HOW THIS ANIMAL IS WITH: CATS: Enjoys a calm cat friend DOGS: Likely best if no dogs KIDS: No small kids who might be rough with him, older kids ok KNOWN LIKES: Calm home, soft cuddles, lap time, ribbon toys to chase KNOWN DISLIKES: Chaos ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: When Kolos was rescued from Eastern Ukraine, he had a hind end injury that effected his mobility. He didn’t have much muscle around his back legs. The shelter team started him on physiotherapy, and he began to improve. Kolos is much better now, able to walk, run, jump around. He was diagnosed with osteochondrosis and dysplasia of the right hip joint, as well as likely some arthritis in the hip area. He gets a daily joint supplement, and there may be more needed in future as he ages, but for now, he's a happy, loving, playful boy! Kolos doesn’t enjoy the high energy antics of young, rough cats, but he does like a calm kitty friend. Kolos enjoys lots of pets and cuddles and will climb in your lap for some cuddle time. He’s a sweet boy! HT ADOPTION INCLUDES: Spay/Neuter A series of FVRCP vaccines, rabies vaccine (if old enough), and deworming Microchip - lifetime registration with no fees EXCLUSIVE ADOPTER BENEFITS: Free physical exam with Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Palisades Veterinary Clinic, Jermantown Animal Hospital and Clarendon Animal Care within 30 days of adoption and all VCA Animal Hospitals (VCA offers $250 coverage - details provided) within 14 days of adoption. Breed - Domestic Longhair Neutered Male Weight - about 12 pounds Estimated Age - About 2 years old (Estimated DOB 1 FEB 2023) If you are interested in adopting this cat, please fill out our cat adoption questionnaire at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HTAR/Cat. For questions, email janemariehamann@gmail.com HOW TO MEET THIS CAT: This cat is in a foster home. To meet her, please complete the adoption questionnaire. LOCATION: Foster home ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Jane, janemariehamann@gmail.com ADOPTION FEE: $170 for a single cat. This fee INCLUDES neuter, vaccines, and microchip. Ask us about our many adoption benefits that include free exams, pet insurance, and other discounts! HOW THIS ANIMAL IS WITH: CATS: He would prefer to be your one and only feline DOGS: We don't know for sure, but would probably be okay with dogs with a slow introduction. KIDS: Good with older, gentle kids. KNOWN LIKES: Human attention, getting pets, and being brushed. KNOWN DISLIKES: None! ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: We met Sammy during a TNR trip to a rural county. He was hanging around someone's front porch and being fed. He was friendly and enjoyed human attention so we brought him to Homeward Trails for him to find a permanent indoor home. He is doing well in his foster home and seemed immediately comfortable in his new surroundings. He is a calm and easy cat who is also very affectionate. He will climb on his foster's chest to greet him. He loves petting sessions and purrs loudly. He is a little anxious around young kids, so would be better in a home with adults only or older kids. He would be a great companion for someone looking for a single cat to light up their world.
