Meet sweet Amanda! Amanda is the snuggliest senior baby to ever exist! She is a beautiful 7 pound tabby with a calm, loving, and gentle spirit. Amanda loves humans and her favorite activity is to sit in your lap. When she is especially happy and comfortable she will face plant onto you. She loves to explore behind doors and has great litter box manners!  Amanda's vet agreed that she has a big heart both figuratively and literally and she is doing great on her blood pressure medication.  She does have kidney disease and her special veterinary diet is keeping things nice and stable!   Amanda is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped.   Interested in adopting? Story
Pacino-at-a-glance: 8 year old, male, neutered, DSH, 12-13 lbs., up-to-date on core vaccines, microchipped, FeLV /FIV negative.    Meet Pacino, your new best friend and the BEST guy around! Pacino LOVES attention! B etter yet, he loves being the center of attention, especially if chin scratches are included! This handsome guy has comes with his own personal tuxedo made of silky black and white fur. You’d think he was sponsored by Pantene (because he IS worth it!), but don’t let that fool you, he can play hard. Pacino is super playful and enjoys a variety of toys including wands, catnip toys, and toys that make crinkle noises...probably because he correlates that with his human opening a bag of chips! When we said he was the best boy, we really mean, the BEST boy. He’s like a little shadow, loves to curl up and cuddle and follow you around. This cuddler is currently on anxiety medication as he can be frightful of loud sudden noises but it’s extremely easy to manage and the smallest extra step to his preferred food, Hills C/D food. Adopt this handsome and well behaved boy and he may reward you with a kiss or two (he will anyway). Interested in adopting? Of course you are! Submit an application here!   November 6, 2024, 6:04 am

Story
SADIE Female, spayed 9 years old Domestic Medium Hair Up-to-date on core vaccines, FeLV /FIV negative & microchipped Litter box trained Not good with other cats; untested with dogs or small children   Meet your new favorite golden girl, Sadie! Sadie hasn't had the easiest year, her human of 9 years passed away and she was left alone at a high-kill shelter. But once LOVEPAWS saw the beautiful and cuddly cat she was, we acted fast to get her out! Sadie is the absolute best company anyone could have. I mean, she quite literally is the supervisor in her foster dad’s office! Once her long shift is done, she meets her foster parents at the couch where she requests pets on top of her foster mom's lap. Where she then cutely rolls on her side to show off her beautiful (big chungus) belly and take a well-deserved nap. She's quite the large cat (has a plan with Weight Watchers) but that does NOT slow her down! She gracefully does daily exercise on the stairs, runs back and forth with her wand toy, and is an Olympic medalist for jumping onto high beds and couches. This gorgeous girl also has the best litterbox manners and is NOT a scratcher, your expensive couch is safe! That being said, Sadie is looking for a home where she can gaze out the window, find a comfy box to nap in, have some alone time, but also have loving humans to give her pets. No other cats, please! Sadie wants to the only Queen in your life!   Interested in adopting? Of course, you are! Submit an application here! February 3, 2025, 9:05 am

Story
PEPPER Female, spayed 2 years old Tuxedo (medium-hair) 8 lbs. Microchipped and up-to-date on core vaccines Pepper ended up at a high-intake animal shelter which is where Lovepaws found her.  She's been through a lot in her short life and is adjusting amazingly in her current foster home. She’s a trooper! If you’re looking for a sweet and snuggly tuxedo companion, Pepper is your girl! She loves nothing more than to fall asleep on you or snuggle up next to you (with a paw or her head on you for support, of course). When she’s not cuddling, she loves to play and chirp sweetly to you about her hopes and dreams. Pepper is also a very well-behaved girl as she doesn’t care to mess with your things. She’s not a big fan of other kitties, so her only requirement is that she be the only kitty in your household so that she can focus on her job – Queen of Human Snuggling. Pepper’s dream day would involve munching on her dry food (she’s got a slow feeder because she loves it THAT much), followed by some zoomies and chasing her favorite toy, paper on a wire. She’d then love to spend the rest of the day snuggling on her humans! Interested in adopting? Of course you are! Submit an application here! March 6, 2025, 4:22 pm

Story
Marvelous Magic is a gorgeous 2 year old medium hair tortoiseshell kitty! She's a social girl who will pick her person to shower with attention. Torties are known for having a sense of humor and for being the queens of their kingdoms (it's called "tortitude). Magic can be a bit reserved initially, but will warm up quickly. She enjoys spending time with her foster while she works from home, or will find a sunny spot by a window to survey the neighborhood. This beautiful girl is in search of a loving forever home - could that be yours? Magic is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations. Her adoption fee is $175 For more information, please email kbuckner@petconnectrescue.org Cats adopted through PetConnect Rescue must be indoor only, and may not be declawed (unless already declawed at the time of rescue). **If you're viewing this on Petfinder, please visit www.petconnectrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

Male, DMH, 6 months old Jiminy is new to the rescue and we can't wait to find out more about them. If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a CAT: https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adoptable-cats.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats. Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Cat specific vetting: Rabies, FVRCP. Cats are tested for FIV and FeLV, when age appropriate, but not when born to a FELV/FIV negative mother in foster care. Kittens have age-appropriate vetting to date, which includes deworming, microchip, and the first FVRCP vaccine. Kittens born in care to a negative mother will not receive a FIV/FeLV test. An adopter will need to agree to cover costs of spay/neuter when he/she is age-appropriate (usually 16-20 weeks) and will need to continue his/her kitten vaccines (including rabies) as he/she grows older. Kittens under 12 weeks of age must be adopted in pairs or to a home with friendly resident feline. They will not be considered as singles.

Story
Charlie's a calm and loving cat, sleeps most of the day but is happy to get attention anytime, though he is most active in the morning and evenings. When he's lounging in the evenings, he'll come sit on my lap for pets for 5-10 minutes at a time, a few times a night. He's been great with our 3 year old as she grew up, cautiously interested in the baby and warmer over time as she grew. He's happy chasing wands and curious about his surroundings. He's a great cat and we just want to find him a home that can give him the love and attention he deserves. Charlie is 7 years old and we adopted him as a kitten with his brother Buster (from the same litter). Unfortunately, Buster recently passed so Charlie needs a bit more care and attention than we will be able to provide - my wife and I are expecting our second child soon. New owner can have all his supplies (if you'd like). 2 litter boxes with enclosures and an automated feeder are the main items.
