Let me introduce myself, I'm Ripley, a sweet and handsome fella. And believe it or not I'm out here looking for a family that I can say is ALL MINE! I'm around 8 months and come in at about 30lbs. I'm almost all the way growed up and shouldn't get a whole lot bigger. That puts me at the pawsomely perfect size for tagging along on your daily going on's and also for any of those action adventures you want to tackle. And BTW, if any of those include water, you can bet I'm all in!! I'm an active pup that does fabulously with people and other pups. I'd make a great 'sibling' for either or I wouldn't mind getting all your attention as your one and only. My house training is going superbly as I'm one smart cookie and pick up new things quickly! If you're looking for a family addition that will be a BFF that will always have your back, a sidekick to accompany you in your everyday life throws you and a cohort for those adventures, I AM that boy!!! Animal Profile:  Artie is an estimated 4-year-old, 65 lb female Lab/Shepherd mix who loves snuggles and belly rubs. She is friendly with all people, including kids. Her previous owner described her as gentle, loving, playful, and attentive with kids of all ages. Artemis is a smart girl who learns quickly and knows basic commands. She is both house trained and crate trained.  Artemis would do best in a home with a securely fenced yard where she can run and play. Foster Update 5/3/24: Artie has been doing very well with all types of training. She can be around the other dogs without a leash and even enjoys playing with the other pups. Her "bubble" has shrunk to the point that an unfamiliar dog basically has to run into her to generate a reaction, and she's still her same cuddly self in the house.  Foster Update: Artie is a very good and chill dog with an excellent foundation of training. She walks well on leash with a training collar and heels on command. She's made tremendous progress when encountering unfamiliar dogs on walks. She doesn’t react from a distance at all and can now pass by calmly as long as they stay outside her “bubble” of about 2 feet. She's conditioned to a muzzle and accepts it easily; it seems to make her more comfortable encountering new dogs. After slow introductions, she's become best buds with a large male Lab and a medium female Aussie in her foster home. Adopter Profile: Large breed experience required Secure fenced yard required Balanced dogs OK No cats Kids OK Adoption Info: Artie's adoption fee is $350, which includes spay, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Animal History: Artie came to the Quincy Animal Shelter as a stray. She was adopted by a family with kids with special needs in Fall 2022 and surrendered to DGS in July 2023 because they were unable to give her the attention she deserves.
