Potential for home with children. All interactions should be carefully supervised by an adult. - No cats or small animals- History of living with another dog; potential for another dog in-home pending successful introductionMissy is a lovely, gentle 5-year-old shepherd mix searching for her forever family. She came to the shelter through no fault of her own and is finding the busy environment overwhelming. Despite this, her gentle and loving personality shines through. She`s quick to make friends, and given a chance, would be thrilled to snuggle up on the couch under a blanket (her previous family used to say this girl was a cat in her past life!)Missy has experience living with small children and may enjoy having a dog friend or two in her new home. She thrives in easy-going environments where she can rediscover the joys of having a place to call her own—a cozy spot to relax, a yard to play in, and a family to love.If you`re ready to open your heart and home to this wonderful girl, Missy can’t wait to meet you!

McGuire is on hold for an adopter!** McGuire is available through our `Adopt From a Foster Home` program. Please email adopt@calgaryhumane.ca if you are interested in scheduling a meeting. Please do not make an appointment through our online booking calendar, as McGuire is not available to meet on site. **A bit about me:- unknown history with cats; introductions should be slow and supervised- unknown history with children; all interactions should be supervised- dogs okay pending successful introductionThis dashing boy is as affectionate and sweet as much as he is playful and goofy! McGuire has loved every person he has met and been positively intrigued by each dog he has spotted while in his foster home. This house-trained boy loves nothing more than being close to his people, but also enjoys his space and is happy to take a snooze in any crevice he can find! During the day, he can be found having puppy naps on his many beds and against various items of furniture, enjoying his many toys and treats, or bird and squirrel watching through the window to pique his curiosity.McGuire may at times get excitable when his family members get home from work or during play time and become a bit jumpy and mouthy - his foster family has found that Kong toys with wet food inside or squeaky plushies are the perfect redirecting toys to get McGuire back to the perfect, calm, and kind boy that he truly is.If you are looking to add a handsome and loyal friend for life, McGuire is the perfect candidate for you and your home!

*Raya is in the process of being adopted!*Age: 3 yearsWeight: 31 kgA little bit about Raya: - children okay, can jump up hard - cats okay, needs slow and supervised introductions - small animals unknown - may be dog selective; potential for select other dog in home pending successful dog-to-dogMeet Raya, the sweet, loyal, and energetic gal waiting for a home of her very own! Raya is the type of dog that loves to meet everybody but she doesn`t know her own strength; she`s known to jump up when she`s over-excited so will need some help learning proper doggy manners. Brought to the shelter through no fault of her own, this lovely lady is searching for an active family that are able to offer her plenty of walks, playtime, and snuggles! While Raya has been reported to live well with both children and cats, any introductions and interactions should be done slowly with adult supervision to ensure that everyone gets along! And while there was one dog she played well with, there was another interaction where she was too much for the other dog, but don`t worry; a dog-to-dog here at the shelter once you`ve met her will help discover if Raya and your resident dog are compatible! So what are you waiting for? Your new best friend, Raya, can`t wait to meet you!

Story
Nia is a smaller Shepherd mix (45 lb range). She is under 2 years old and an absolute joy to have around. Nia is very playful, so another dog in the home would be fun for her, but a family that would include her in their outdoor adventures and car rides would also be ideal. She is very cuddly and loving, currently in a foster with older kids and thriving!Although she can be timid with new people in new situations, she’ll relax once she realizes she is safe. This gal is a real treasure and she’s waiting for her forever family to love her forever. In return, you’ll gets loads of affection and make many memories along the way.

Story
Meet Luna, a resilient and loving 2 1/2-year-old German Shepherd mix who has overcome significant health challenges, showcasing her incredible adaptability and gentle nature. Despite having her tail docked due to infection, she has adapted remarkably well and no longer shows discomfort when it`s touched. Luna is a quiet companion, only barking when startled, and she has a passion for outdoor activities like playing fetch, hiking, and swimming, making her an ideal companion for an active family. As a crate-trained dog, Luna prefers to sleep beside her owners, and she`s making great progress on walking on a leash no longer pulling. This affectionate momma loves everyone she meets and is eager to please, enjoying belly and chest rubs. Her excellent behavior around children, taking food gently from their hands, and her great interactions with other dogs (doesn`t seem aggressive to cats, but hasn`t spent a lot of time around them) make her a fantastic addition to an active family. Luna will undoubtedly bring loyalty, sweetness, and joy to her forever home.

Story
Dasher has been waiting patiently since the middle of November for a family to call his own. Its already a new year and we hope 2025, brings him a loving, caring home of his very own. This sweet fellow is looking for an active household where he can put his energy to good use. He has a unique characteristic as he has a tail nub, he often wiggles his bum to show that he is happy! A family that enjoys outdoor activities would be ideal, these could include running, hiking or other fun winter sports. He would benefit from an adult only home with a securely fenced yard. A home that can help him with his impulse control around food. A basic manners class or behaviour consult is required with adoption.
