Story
Hi. I'm Ari but my friends call me R-Dog. I'm 2.5 years old, mostly German Shepherd with a sprinkle of Doberman - a great mix that gives me my svelte shape and sleek black coat with tan tinted toes and feet. I love my decorated feet!!  And in case you didn't notice, I have ginormous ears. I think I'm pretty cute! Believe it or not, I love to be brushed AND have my nails done.  My friends say I'm super sweet and affectionate and once we know each other I can be a bit of a lap dog. I really adore my people. Going on walks is one of my favorite things—I just can't get enough of all the wonderful smells! I walk pretty well on leash despite my desire to smell everything. I also do ok in the car but sometimes I get a little nervous around loud cars and beebing trucks. I am crate trained and LOVE my crate so that's the perfect place to ride. While I"m out walking, I basically mind my own but once in while something startles me and I get scared and bark and carry on a bit too much. If another dog gives me the hairy eyeball, I get a little defensive and need to be reminded it's all ok. You see, I was adopted as a wee pup but my family lost interest in me and after a while they just left me in the back yard. I didn't get the greatest chance to meet new people and see new things. My friends at the rescue took me back and boy am I glad. I'm learning so much and they tell me I'm really doing well and what a smart, sweet girl I am.   I'm ok around other dogs that are calm and easy going and I like walking with my dog friends. I would prefer to be the only dog in the home and I really don't care for dog parks. Trust me, I'm all you will need!!  I lwould be a great running partner, hiker, and all around adventure dog. OH, one thing I must have is WATER. I LOVE THE WATER. Sometimes I get to swim in a pond or the creek and I LOVE IT and can't wait to jump in. You can usually find me lounging in my wading pool, even in the rain.  I grew up with a cat but other cats are maybe too interesting for me? Not sure though, maybe I could hang with a cat. I'm comfortable going into stores and have no issues with floors or stairs. I'm a little nervous at the vet but I mind my manners. With a little patience and love, I know I'll grow into the best companion anyone could ask for. If you want to meet me, I'm hanging out in Santa Rosa and would love to say hi.  You like this dog...now what? Please take 3-4 minutes and complete our application form at:  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/42179/generic.  Our adoption team will quickly contact you by phone or email (watch your spam please) to see if it's a match!.  If you are already approved to adopt, please contact your Adoption Counselor and they will help you set up a meeting.  You can also sponsor Ari by clicking here. Story
Hi, I'm Loki! I'm a 6-year-old boy and people say I am a stunning GSD. I have really thrived in my foster home and am now a healthy 108 pounds.  My beautiful black coat is thick and shiny. First and foremost - I love open spaces like a rural setting  I still get startled at times by things I am not familiar with or do not understand.  This is improving as I get more exposure. so I'll need mindful introductions to new things.  I need practice on leash not getting wound up when I see things in motion or other dogs; I'm busy training to address these issues. I have lots of fun playing off lead with other dogs and I love it when I get to visit friends with lots of property for roaming.  I  often hang out with a senior small dog and just ignore him.  I have done a great job meeting new people.  I've got good house manners and sleep quietly beside my foster mom's bed at night. I ride quietly in the car in a draped crate. But if I can't go along with you, I'll wait patiently in the house without getting into any trouble. My foster leaves me loose in the house and I have been respectful of that.  Oh, and I LOVE my ball! I carry it around with me everywhere in the house—it's like my little sidekick. I am a BIG boy. If you love tall, dark and incredibly handsome boys who have just enough mystery to keep it interesting then I may be your match.   I hope you’d like to meet me. I’ll be waiting in Walnut Creek. Story
Hi. I'm Boone! I'm a sweet and gentle 2-year-old boy with the cutest face!!  So, here's my story:  I was abandoned with my brother and ended up in a scary shelter. My brother was much braver than me and had no trouble meeting people and he got adopted. I was really scared when he left me alone and I just wanted to hide. Then some kind people got me out of there just in time and I've been trying my very best to be brave. I like people once I get to know them. Once we're friends, I'm affectionate and playful and enjoy being around you. I have never bitten or even threatened to bite anyone, that would not be cool. I even did pretty well with the vet recently as long as my trusted people were with me and telling me it was ok. I have not met any cats but I kind of think I would be a little scared of the hissy, spitty things.  I would love to find a home that’s calm and quiet, with not too many strangers going in and out. If new people come over, I'd need a safe space where I can relax. I won’t cause any trouble—I'm just a little nervous around unfamiliar faces and need some time to feel safe. The perfect family for me would be quiet, patient, and understanding, and would give me the time I need to adjust. Having a calm, confident dog sibling to play with and hang out with is really important for me since I’ll follow their lead and feel more comfortable with them around. I'm not much of a barker, and I’m not destructive either. I may still be a bit scared of the big world right now, but with the right family, I know I can find my way. My foster mom has been taking me out-and-about on walks with other dogs and I think I really enjoy it!!  I walk nice on leash, too. If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle guy like me and prefer quiet instead of chaos, maybe we will be a match. I know it won't be easy at first but I will try really hard to be the bestest boy I can.  If you want to give me a chance I will be waiting in Santa Rosa in my foster home. Story
Hi, I'm Ramsey, Rams for short. I'm about 5.5 years old and 70 lbs of handsomeness.  I mean, really, just look at me. My besties say I'm the prototypical German Shepherd Dog. I'm smart, loyal, alert, playful, friendly, affectionate and handsome - did I say handsome already? I'm not a big barker but will alarm bark to let you know there's someone at the door. I'm a super friendly guy so strangers are ok as long as you say they are.  I love to play ball and will bring it back to you (mostly) and drop it. When I want to keep it to myself I get a little stingy but a second ball or airball solves that and I'm off again. I am definitely a ball dog but not obsessed with it. The one thing I really, really, really like is going for rides. Quiet country rodes are the best when you can drive really slow and let me hang my head out the window and get all the great smells. I like being with my person whether it's walks, rides or just hanging out. I'm a pretty chill guy.  I have lived with dogs before but thnk I would prefere to have you all to myself. I can be "around" other dogs but if they get to pushy or try to take my things, I can get a little possessive. I know, it's not my best feature, but I just don't like to share much with other dogs. Sometimes I see a dog that gives me the side eye and a little sass and I want to give it back but my person tells me to quit so I do. I walk well on leash, have really good basics and I'm a good boy in the house. I will follow you around (I'm a GSD after all) and will hang out where I can keep you in my sights - which includes the bathroom.  I would like a home that has a little room to stretch my legs, smell the yard, maybe patrol the perimeter and just be with you. I do like to harrass the squirrels if you have some around and I'm pretty cool with cat - they have sharp feet.  Don't forget, a new home will be all new to me and I will just need a little time to adjust and realize this is HOME and you are MINE. Once I get it all figured out, I will always be by your side, ready to play, ready to chill and ready to be loved. I'm ok around small kids BUT I can get a little stingy and grabby with high value treats and my ball so an adult home would be best.  One more thing, I'm not really fond of the vet - do you blame me? I have been muzzle trained and prefer to wear it so everyone is comfortable. I'm friendly but I need to trust before being 'examined'. If you would like to meet me, I will be waiting in Santa Rosa.  You like this dog...now what? Story
Hi, I’m Stoney! I’m a young, energetic pup with a gorgeous white coat and a lean, athletic build at 66 pounds. I’m friendly and sweet with people, and I love to play—especially with the two female dogs I live with! I get along well with other dogs, but I do best with slow introductions so we can get to know each other properly. I also live with a cat and do well, but when I see cats outside, I can’t help but want to chase them! I’m looking for a home that can keep up with my playful energy and give me plenty of activity to keep me happy and healthy. I ride well in the car and love sticking my head out the window to feel the breeze. I also enjoy toys, ropes, and balls—playtime is the best! Plus, I walk nicely on a leash, so I’m always ready for an adventure with you. Are you looking for a fun-loving, playful pup to join your family? I just might be the one for you! This is a courtesy post. Story
Hi, I’m Roo! I’m a stunningly pretty girl with a cute little prance—sometimes I even leap straight into the air while walking, which is how I got my nickname, "Roo!" I’m affectionate and playful with my friends, and once I know you, I’ll never forget you. I’ve met lots of people, and for reasons unknown, I was skeptical about two—one was when I first arrived and felt a little overwhelmed, and the other smelled strongly of cleaner. I didn’t make a big fuss, though—I just backed off and barked a little, but when asked to stop, I listened and sat calmly. I love car rides and looking out the window, and I’m crate trained, too! I get along with some dogs, but I can be a little bossy with others—nothing aggressive, just my way of keeping things in order. I used to live with two Chihuahuas and was found running around with a pitbull, so I’m still figuring out exactly what kind of dog friends I like best. I do have a bit of a prey drive (I’ve caught a few gophers!), so a home without small critters or kitties would be best for me. On walks, I do great with a front-clip harness and am not reactive to other dogs. I confidently walk into stores and pretty much mind my own business. I do have a little sensitivity when people reach toward me with treats, so for now, I prefer them to be dropped on the floor. Honestly, I’m picky about treats anyway—I only like a few special ones! I love to play with a ball, and my favorite game is when my person chases me. I’d do best in a home with limited visitors, as I was a bit protective in my last home. I did live with kids, but I think I’d be happier in a home without young children. I just need slow introductions to new people, but once I know you, I’m yours forever. I’m smart, loyal, and everything you’d expect from a German Shepherd. Are you the right person for me? I'll be waiting in Santa Rosa.
