Story
Helloooo!! I'm Lina!!I may be an older gal, but don't let that fool you!! I love to go on adventures with my human out on hiking trails or staying in and playing! I like to please my human and know a few basic obedience, but I can always learn new things too! I would love to have a fenced in yard to play in and keep me safe! I can be a little picky with my canine friends as I like to be top dog and I'm not too keen on feline friends. If you think I might be the lovely pup for you, please call my friends at TCRAS at (719) 686 7707! Current weight is 64 lbs.

Story
Hello! I'm a sweet and shy 13yr old boy who wants a calm household. I would not do well living in an apartment/condo/townhome, but I would excel at keeping your yard free from critters. I play nicely with other dogs, and don't let my age fool you...I still have plenty of pep in my step! I can't wait to love you! I am very timid with new people. I need an adopter who can commit to multiple meetings over time before I could come home with you. Loud noises are scary so a calm and quiet living environment with only one or two adults would be best for me. I would not do well living in an apartment or shared wall situation. I need a fenced yard. I'm crate trained and dog-door trained! I love to play with other dogs. I'd love a dog friend to play with me and a big back yard to run around in. I need a quiet home with only one or two people. I love to work for treats! I need to have a house with fenced in yard. I don’t have experience being around cats. I don't like loud noises. Children are often loud, so I prefer to not be around them. I would do best in a home without children. I’m shy but I love relaxed and loving people. I’m crate trained and dog-door trained!

Story
Indy is a shy 10-month-old German Shepherd mix. She is very smart and food motivated and would benefit from continued training to build her confidence. She would do best in a patient and experienced home where she can learn to trust her humans. Once she learns to trust you, she is very sweet and loves nothing more than snuggling and going on car rides. Indy would like a home with another social dog as she loves playing with her dog friends. Because of her shy demeanor, she would do best in a home with adults only, and no children under 13. Indy loves playing with a variety of toys, and especially loves bones, rope toys, and toys with squeakers. She'd love a home with a yard to run around in and continue to explore the world. If you're looking for a sweet, smart, and playful pup, Indy is the one for you! Indy's adoption fee includes a personalized training program.

Story
Meet Catan, the puppy full of energy and a spirit that’s always up for fun! This playful, goofy little guy will keep you laughing with his endless antics and infectious enthusiasm. With his striking blue eye, Catan is as unique as he is lovable. If you’re looking for a furry friend who’s always ready for adventure and has a zest for life, Catan is your perfect match.  This pup is part of a litter who was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas after being surrendered by their owner for euthanasia. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free Pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with Pet First pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2099651##
