You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. AdoptaGSD.org   Please consider that some of these dogs have been abandoned or ignored by their previous owners, having little interaction with someone who cares about them. When adopted, they will need time to adjust to the changes in their life. Hi, my name is (Hedwig) Heidi, and I'm a beautiful GSD with an estimated DOB of 4/21/21 who was transferred, along with my puppies Haiden, Hans, Henri and Hilda, to FRGSR from a shelter where we were all surrendered by our former owner who decided he didn't feel like caring for us anymore and we were going to leave this Earth in 48 hours if a rescue didn't pull us. Thankfully, FRGSR said yes!! Since arriving in CO, I've been living in a foster home separate from my puppies, because they are all weaned. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Although we do our best to keep our adoptable animals page as current as possible, the animals you see may already be in an adoption process.   July 15, 2024, 9:35 am

The word PERFECT doesn’t even begin to describe GS He is currently seeking a forever home he is 1 years old and came into our rescue about 6 months ago when he was just a puppy he has Made amazing friends at his foster home. He would love to have a fur sibling of his own to play with forever. When GS was originally found he was being protected by a senior dog while surviving the rough Texas heat on the streets. Since then he has learned manners and is even crate trained   Would anyone make this sweet boy the next member to your family. He is the missing puzzle piece to ur lonely home. ##2107743##

Story
I am a BIG, playful, goof of a dog! I want nothing more than to run and PLAY!  I am great with other dogs who want to play and the ones who don't I respect their boundaries. I would love a forever home with another big dog to play with, and I promise we will wear each other out!  I came into my foster home with 5 other dogs ranging in size and age with ZERO problems.  I have not been tested with cats that I know of.  I am potty trained and take myself out the dog door.  I am kennel trained and will happily go in there to eat my meals and for bedtime.  It takes meer minutes for me to settle in for bed.  I love all toys, balls, soft ones, hard ones...really I just love anything fun!  So far I stick to what's mine and leave my fosters shoes and other items alone.   I am looking for an active home, because I am an active boy.  I would make a great running partner, hiking partner, biking partner, I could easily pull you on a skate board if you taught me how! I am very food motivated and right now I'm learning that my food is safe and won't be taken from me (see below for why I'm probably confused about my resources). I would love a forever home that wants to do training! I want to please and will be very easily trained, I already know my sit and lay down and it seems I know stay!  I would do best in a house with a yard, in an apartment setting due to my size and tendency for zoomies more room is probably best.  I AM SUCH A GOOD BOY, my back story is actually mind blowing. I have had quite the 9 months of life so let me tell you what the rescue knows for sure.  I was a lucky one and made it out of a very high kill shelter in NM.  I was adopted in January as a baby big boy and returned because they weren't quite ready for a puppy.  Then I was adopted again in February.  As far as the rescue knew that was my forever home but fast forward to July and I was surrended to a Denver area shelter by someone that I was rehomed to because they were not able to meet my needs.  When the rescue found out they obviously came and got me! So now I'm in a foster home and my foster mom has PROMISED me my next home will be forever.  It has to be, I am the best goofy big boy you will find.   ##1884672##

Story
This pup is part of a litter who was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas after being surrendered by their owner for euthanasia. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free Pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with Pet First pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2099647##
