Story
Marley is from a breeder that lived out in the farm back in Elgin, Oklahoma. He’s 1.5 years old with plenty of energy and curiosity! Because of his abundance of energy, he needs someone who is calm, strong, and experienced with his breed. Marley would absolutely love a large space to run around with and be spoiled rotten as he loves sleeping on the bed or couch and of course get LOTS of pets and snuggles. Marley is kennel and potty trained, knows to sit, stay, down, back, out and touch. He could use more training for jumping and pulling on the lead. Marley would be best with a couple, family with older kids or other dogs with similar energy level and size or as an only ‪dog. He is familiar with cats but is too rough with play.

Story
Sawyer is a one year old, female German Shepherd. She is UTD on all shots, Flea & tick free, and spayed. When I had her spayed, I paid extra to have them tack her stomach. the vet advised me that sometimes these bigger breeds of dogs can have issues with their stomachs flipping if they eat and then have too much activity, or sometimes just as they get older. the vet said their stomachs can become necrotic and it essentially kills the dog but the signs aren’t always recognized so that shouldn’t ever be an issue wi She is potty trained and kennel trained. She’s very intelligent & learns fast. She knows sit, lay, shake (and other paw), and stay. She can be playful and outgoing, but she really loves to snuggle up on the couch and hangout. She has lived with other dogs and children and never shown any form of aggression. Unsure about cats. Comes with all of her things including 4 more months of flea and tick medication. Rehome fee applies. Flexible w/ fee Willing to travel to meet.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation. If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. We ask that you consider the time and financial commitment that your German Shepherd (or other herding breed) dog will require before applying for one. Please review the section on our website (www.heartlandgsrescue.org) 'Is a HUGS Dog Right for You?' for additional information.Finn is a tiny, adorable 8 week old puppy who appears to be a GSD/Siberian Husky mix. He is friendly, sociable, very playful, and is doing great in his foster home with other dogs and cats. Finn is just a baby and like all puppies, he will need patient parents who can provide good supervision as he continues to learn potty-training, crate-training, to use his sharp puppy teeth on appropriate objects, and all the important things that puppies need to learn :)Like any of our dogs, this sweetie pie boy would make a great addition to an active home that will provide the love, structure, good leadership, activity and mental stimulation that his breed needs. Because of that, Finn's ideal owner will have prior GSD, Husky, or other herding breed experience, and a friendly dog buddy for Finn. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, please remember that you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings, in order to provide sufficient stimulation, ward off boredom, and work on leash skills, and manners. Finn's adoption fee is $425, all of which goes back into offseting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs.  We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped. Please visit http://heartlandgsrescue.rescuegroups.org/info/adoption for more information about our adoption process and requirements, and to apply.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please review the information in the 'About Us', 'Important Considerations' and 'Adopt' sections on our website menu, as it contains useful information about the breed, adoption fees, the adoption process and our requirements, and how meeting the dogs works.July 12, 2024, 11:55 am

Story
NEEDS IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE Tank is a 3 yr old Momma's Boy. He is very NERVOUS and prefers someone to talk sweetly to him. Unfortunately he is not getting along with our other dogs so it is his last week with us and will be headed to the shelter, if we can't find a home for him. He is a very sweet boy when he gets to know you. Would not recommend around small children but older would be okay. Gives cats a wide birth and is mildly terrified of them. Not much of a player but is very good motivated.
