Story
Adoption fee a little negotiable. Mavis is such a good dog and we really love her but there are 2 reasons we have to rehome her. She has a lot of energy and needs more exercise and attention than we can give her. We haven’t been able to train her to stop jumping and dragging with a leash because we have 6 kids whom she’s bigger than and they are all scared of her because she knocks them down. She is so sweet and will learn quickly but needs someone who can train her! Our 4 year old daughter is also very allergic and swells up a lot when licked by her so we cannot keep her. She is really nice to the kids and has never been mean or aggressive towards anyone, she just is strong, big and very energetic!

Story
Say hello to the doe-eyed pup named Honey! Honey is a precious little bean of a dog! This pretty girl was brought to HSEC for a second chance at a future home! Abandoned and failed by the humans before us, Honey`s unbreakable spirit persevered as she won us over with her charm and adorable eyes! This pretty girl loves to play with other dogs, hand out in nature, and indulge in treats occasionally. Docile, sweet, and independent are the first three words to come to mind when we think of Honey! Don`t be fooled, though; this gal has a spunky side that loves to run and jump around while playing with her favorite stuffed toy! Honey loves to get a little saucy and play her favorite game, `on the couch, off the couch`! Of course, if you are interested in adding Honey to your furry family, we do require a meet and greet before adopting! Honey cannot wait to find her furever home, and we cannot wait for you to meet her! Interested in adopting this pretty gal? No problem! Head over to hsecarolina.org to apply today!

Story
This adorable 8-month-old is all puppy, packed with energy, playfulness, and a whole lot of love! Kimber is full of fun and can be a bit silly, bringing joy to everyone she meets. She`s a curious gal, and while she might try to chew on you (like any puppy would), she’s got excellent bite inhibition. With a little guidance and some patience, she’ll learn the ropes of what’s okay to chew and become the best companion ever!Kimber absolutely loves playing with other dogs, making her a great addition to a multi-pet household. And don’t let her size fool you—she’s only 28 pounds, so she`s small enough to cuddle but big enough to keep up with an active family. If you`re looking for a playful, affectionate pup with a ton of potential, Kimber might just be the perfect fit for you!

Story
Meet Striker – A Loyal Companion Ready for His Forever Home! Striker is a stunning 3–4-year-old German Shepherd with a gorgeous sable coat and an even bigger heart! Weighing in at 85 pounds, this handsome boy is neutered, up to date on all vaccines and has started heartworm treatment (which the rescue will cover if he is adopted before completion). Striker spent much of his life tied outside, so he is still learning the ropes when it comes to basic training. He will need a patient adopter who is committed to continuing his training and helping him build confidence in a home environment. He is very smart—sometimes a little too smart—and has a knack for slipping past baby gates/pushing out through any open door. He is housebroken, crate trained, and quiet in the crate. He walks well on a leash but does pull at times, so young kids should not be walking him. He is gentle when taking treats and, above all else, just wants to be near his person. Striker requires a home with a fully fenced yard and an adopter who will follow both his immediate post-heartworm treatment exercise restrictions and his long-term care plan. He gets along well with both male and female dogs in his foster home, though introductions to other males should be slow and supervised. His exposure to small children has been limited but positive. He has been introduced to cats, and I don't recommend a home with cats for him. Striker recently visited a loud, busy brewery and took everything in stride—greeting every person and puppy with enthusiasm! He is strong and will need a strong handler, but he is eager to learn and bond with his forever family. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who will stick by your side through thick and thin, Striker might be the perfect fit for you!
