German Shepherd Dog puppies and dogs in Blaine, Washington

We lost a precious family dog in the Fall of 2021 and had no other big dog left (we have had many big dogs for over 30 years). We found Rosie in a litter of Husky/German Shephard pups from a local family. She was a sweet puppy but a bit anxious about meeting big dogs. She did make friends with our daughter's puppy. She loves to play with our kitty and has never hurt him, though she can be a little rough with him. She has always been very loving, playful and protective of the family, including the grandkids. We took her for some training and the trainer called her reactive and anxious. She is fine on walks and not aggressive, but seems to feel anxious when she sees other dogs. The problem at our house is that we have three small dogs. She gets along with the male Dachshund/Beagle mix but seems to have a special dislike for our older Dachshund/Chihuahua and has (seriously) attacked her three times in the last 6 months. A home without small animals would be best.

He does pretty well with neighbor dogs, just does not like being surprised from behind by another dog. Lived with our cat for about a year... took a little getting used to but got along fine shortly after. This winter he was in the vet to get all of his vaccines up to date as well as getting neutered. Jax does well with other dogs. I have not had any issues taking him to an off leash dog park. However, he has had very little experience with cats (my cats hated him so we kept them isolated from him) Jax likes kids but gets over excited easily so he will probably be much for younger children. Stopping his over excited jumping is a work in progress and he has been through both basic and intermediate puppy classes. When he is paying attention he walks very well at heal and knows heal, reset to heal, sit, down, hand touch, wait, and come. He is house broken and will hold it as long as he can (I had a day that I could not get home quickly and he was alone for 12 hours without making a mess). Jax does have some anxiety and wants to be in the middle of everything. He loves to play fetch but want to play tug of war with the ball when he brings it back. Jax is a sweet boy and wants to please. ##2091480##

MEET NICKEL Nickel is an 8 month old shepard mix rescued near the Semiahmoo resort near Bellingham WA. He and his brother Dime, along with their mom Penny and her brand new litter of 11, were rescued and brought into the care of Happy Tails fosters around the end of April. Nickel is a sweet and loveable goofball who aims to please and loves pets. He is very food motivated and has been a joy to train. He is great with other dogs and will continue to learn how to behave and live with cats. He is easy to correct and will be a great dog to train and grow with. Nickel has been an off leash roam around free dog for most of his life but has quickly adapted well to living in a home and getting better and better on the leash. Nickel would do well in a loving home environment with an owner or family that has the time and capacity to train him and help him continue to grow into a great dog. His mom was a shepherd mix around 40 pounds and so he should be a great family size dog.
