Please go to our website at www.milehighlabmission.com to find out more about this pet and to submit an adoption application.  Please DO NOT call or email us; all information about current dogs available, adoption donations, vetting, and this specific dog are on our website. We are a non-profit organization and we are completely 100% volunteer run. We DO NOT have a shelter and only approved applicants can make appointments with our foster homes to meet the dogs we have. Our volunteers will not discuss dogs we have available for adoption UNTIL you have an application on file and are approved to adopt.General Notes | Handsome Mufasa is looking for his big break - a family to love, and adventure awaits him! After a rough start in Texas, he can't wait for people that are invested in him in the long haul. Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.  Personality | Timid but sweet. Mufasa has been easy to handle and shows friendly behavior.Story | Mufasa was surrendered in Texas by his owner after escaping the house. It sounds like it was a scary experience for him, that led to a scary outcome at their local shelter. Mufasa was then picked up by MHLM, and will get to make his way to the good life in CO! Other Dogs | Mufasa is shy by socialable. He takes time to warm up! Cats | Mufasa has not been cat tested, so the rescue cannot speak to how he would do with kitties. Children | Mufasa is still decompressing, but based on foster reports, might do best in a home with older children (teens) or just adults. Training | In progress. Leash | Working on it! Mufasa is young and excited by friends, but walks well. Activity Level | Moderate.Health Notes | Thank you! | Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog).Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only.  To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved.  Your application is good for one year from date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.March 23, 2025, 12:20 pm

Story
Hi, I'm Blaize! I'm a 6 year old Goldendoodle with a loving heart. I'm a shy guy and can take a little longer to warm up, but if you have any treats I promise it will speed up the process! I'm in search of a loving home where I can be a couch potato and play. I can be a little picky about other canine and feline friends so the shelter recoomends a slow and proper introduction to ensure a good fit for everyone.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2315749##

Story
Introducing Tucker! This amazing little guy is a 3yr old mini-Golden/mix that is about 25lbs (his pics are deceiving, he looks much bigger than he really is), with the most adorable underbite known to man, and an equally silly personality. He's really incredible and I'm so glad we've been able to watch him blossom. He came to us very scared and timid, fearful of the world, but man, what this pup has overcome in just a week is freakin' awesome! He is navigating our home with ease (used to be too scared to leave the crate/pen area), he's learning new things, and just enjoying his new life here in Colorado. This is what we know, so far: - Tucker is house-trained. He makes a pretty loud vocal cue when he needs to go potty (you can't miss it, ha). He's had zero accidents in our home! - He is crate-trained. He sleeps and eats in his crate, willingly. Outside of those times, he prefers to be out and about with you and explore the world. - He has met a few kids. He was a bit overwhelmed with little kiddos; however, the older kids he loved. He loved their patience and their doting him with love and attention. - He is good with other dogs; however, he needs calm dogs that will respect his personal space, as he navigates this new life. He does play with the dogs in the yard, but he's not gonna snuggle with them later, lol! He would also do well as an only-dog in the home, soaking up all of that attention and curiosity himself! - Unsure as to how he'd do with cats (but if necessary, we can test that out). - Tucker is a pretty independent dude! He goes outside to survey the neighborhood in the mornings and evenings, he loves the patio, he really kind of does his own thing (not clingy in any way, he's crazy independent). He does check-in with his humans though...he does a quick drive-by to get a few pets and then scurries on his way! He does this often during the day, it's actually quite funny! He loves to lay on the patio in the sun, catch a quick nap, and spy on the neighbors. - While still timid and shy at times, he is a very silly guy, and we are seeing more of that with each passing day! He has occasional zoomies in the yard, he loves to roll and roll and roll (did I mention roll) in the grass, he does the world's best potty dance (it's incredibly hysterical to watch), he dive-bombs his clean blankets, and he will definitely provide you with plenty of comedic entertainment to fill your days. He is 100% goof! - Tucker has discovered toys and he brings them in his mouth to show you and then places them in specific spots (typically in the yard, very methodical). He's quite proud of his toys and he wants you to know it and shows them off! - His #1 passion is walking. He LOVES his walks; he does great on leash and it's his all-time favorite thing to do. And when you get home, he runs to get water, lies down for about 2 minutes, and then runs to the front door whining to go for another walk! I think he would be a great adventure buddy; with all that Colorado has to offer outdoors, he'd love exploring! He's curious about everything. He is a little fearful of loud noises, on walks, but he quickly recovers and continues on his way. - I don't think he'd ever been in a home environment before, he's come SO far and I'm so proud of him. We are currently working on learning commands and continuing to build his confidence. He's going to be so fun for his forever family! ALL POSO DOGS COME WITH: - TWO FREE ONE ON ONE DOG TRAINING SESSIONS - UP TO DATE ON SHOTS - SPAYED/NEUTERED - BLOODWORK/TICK DISEASE TESTING - DEWORMED/FECAL TESTING - WELLNESS CHECKS - LEASH, COLLAR, FOOD TO GET STARTED, TREATS AND TOYS - FI COLLAR SUBSCRIPTION - COUPONS TO LOCAL PET STORES

Story
Meet Cotton! Cotton is a 5-year-old, 60-pound, neutered Golden Retriever/Australian Shepherd mix with a heart as golden as his fur. Despite being deaf, he navigates the world with confidence and an incredibly sweet nature. Cotton is a gentle soul who gets along wonderfully with other dogs, kids, and even cats. His loving and patient personality makes him a fantastic companion for a calm and caring home. He’ll thrive with a family willing to use visual cues for communication and provide him with the love and security he deserves. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate best friend, Cotton is ready to fill that spot in your heart! Once adopted the pup will travel via the Rescue Transport to his/her new family. They travel each and every weekend from Memphis, Tennessee to the north east, delivering pups along the way as far north as West Greenwich, Rhode Island. Transport is an additional $185. Story
Gypsy is a sweet golden that loves people. She's is playful and loves tossing stuffed animals around. She has bouts of puppy energy but also sleeps away the day.  Gypsy's life hasn't been all rainbows and sparkles. She was a breeding dog that has had at least one litter. She does have some things that make her anxious. Loud truck noises, fans, leaving the house from the front door. She's come a long way, but she still doesn't want to leave the house for a walk or car ride. She loves spending time outside in the backyard with friends. Because she hasn't discovered the glory of daily walks yet, she will need a 6 FOOT HIGH SECURELY FENCED YARD. NON-NEGOTIONABLE  Sometimes she needs to be carried into the car so the adopter must be able to pick up a 75lbs dog. Gypsy has been sweet to every person she's met. She's been great with the kids she has met so far. She's done well with the other dogs too. She has shown some possessiveness with toys. She's best paired with a dog that has no interest in toys or is willing to listen when she's telling them the toys are hers... all hers  She's come a long way from when she first arrived in rescue, but she will need lots of love and patience as she adjusts to her new lifestyle.   Gypsy wasn't potty trained when she arrived in her foster home, but she hasn't had an accident since November. She even got to go on a weekend away to a new foster and didn't have any accidents there either.  Apply online at (www.lolasrescue.com)! You can email Info@lolasrescue.com anytime with questions pertaining to animals in our care.  **Dogs in a foster home will need to have a preapproved application on file before setting up meet and greets. ** ##2199371##

All people inquiring about pets listed as Courtesy Listings on the EAPL website and/or EAPL posting adoption boards should contact the current pet owner/rescue/shelter for answers to any questions and for final approval and placement. Please do not contact EAPL  about courtesy listings. The pet owner/rescue/shelter and new owner shall make all arrangements on transferring the pet, information on history, vaccines, etc.  We are accepting donations but are more concerned with good homes! They've had temperament testing, their 1st set of shots, and deworming. They were born Oct 22, and are about to be 12 weeks old. They are a mix of golden retrievers and blue nose pit. They are incredibly sweet but really need separate homes as soon as possible. We might have them microchipped this week. We currently have 4 girls and 1 boy. Please call Liz (303) 476-3826 or Tonya (303) 437-6800. We are currently located @ Kipling & Morrison in Lakewood & just outside of Morrison but are from Kittredge.  January 18, 2025, 6:37 am
